How to forcibly eject a disc

If a disc cannot be recognized by the receiver or cannot be ejected, ejects the disc as follows.

• If an SD card is inserted, ejects the SD card first (see page 14).

• If this does not work, reset your receiver.

• Be careful not to drop the disc when it ejects.

How to reset your unit

This will reset the microcomputer. Your preset adjustments will also be erased.

• Do not raise the volume level too much, as this will block outside sounds, making driving dangerous.

• Stop the car before performing any complicated operations.

*Temperature inside the car....

If you have parked the car for a long time in hot or cold weather, wait until the temperature in the car becomes normal before operating the unit.

Installing the lithium coin battery (CR2025)

• When operating, aim the remote controller directly at the remote sensor on the receiver. Make sure there is no obstacle in between.

Warning:

• Store the battery in a place where children cannot reach to avoid risk of accident.

• To prevent the battery from over-heating, cracking, or starting a fire: – Do not recharge, short, disassemble, or

heat the battery or dispose of it in a fire.

– Do not leave the battery with other

metallic materials.

– Do not poke the battery with tweezers or

similar tools.

– Wrap the battery with tape and insulate

when throwing away or saving it.

Caution:

The receiver is equipped with the steering wheel remote control function.

Basic operations

Select the source.

Caution on volume setting:

Discs produce very little noise compared with other sources. Lower the volume before playing a disc to avoid damaging the speakers by the sudden increase of the output level.

Voice support system (VSS)

You can select either “Beep” or “Voice” for the VSS.

Adjust the sound as you want.

If “Voice” is selected, the language used for VSS changes to the selected language— English, Spanish, or French. To change the VSS setting, see page 29.

Storing stations in memory

You can preset six stations for each band.

FM station automatic presetting — SSM (Strong-station Sequential Memory)

Select the FM band (FM1 – FM3)

you want to store into.

Manual presetting

Ex.: Storing FM station of 92.5 MHz into preset

number 4 of the FM1 band.

Local FM stations with the strongest signals are searched and stored automatically in the FM band.

Playing a disc in the receiver

All tracks will be played repeatedly until you change the source or eject the disc.

About MP3 and WMA tracks

MP3 and WMA (Windows Media® Audio) “tracks” (words “file” and “track” are used interchangeably) are recorded in “folders.”

• When an MP3 or a WMA folder includes an image <jll> file edited by Image Converter (Wide Ver 1.2)—supplied in the CD-ROM, you can show the image on the display while the tracks in the folder are played back—ImageLink. (See pages 14, 26, and 43 for details.)

• When inserting an MP3 or a WMA disc:

Playing discs in the CD changer

About the CD changer

It is recommended to use the JVC MP3compatible CD changer with your receiver.

• You can also connect other CH-X series CD changers (except CH-X99 and CH-X100). However, they are not compatible with MP3 discs, so you cannot play back MP3 discs.

• You cannot use the KD-MK series CD changers with this receiver.

• Disc text information recorded in the CD Text can be displayed when a JVC CD Text compatible CD changer is connected.

• You cannot control and play any WMA disc in the CD changer.

All tracks of the inserted discs in the magazine will be played repeatedly until you change the source or eject the magazine from the CD changer.

Playing an SD card

About the SD card

ENGLISH

You can play back MP3/WMA tracks recorded on the SD card and show the stored image on the display during playback— ImageLink. (See pages 12, 26, and 43 for details.) The required SD recording format is FAT 12/16 and the recommended storage type is 8 MB to 512 MB.

• You cannot use MMC or mini SD with this receiver.

Before detaching the control panel, turn off the power.

~ Detach the control panel.

Prohibiting disc ejection

You can lock a disc in the loading slot.

Skipping a track quickly during play

For audio CD/CD Text:

For MP3 or WMA tracks, you can skip a track within the same folder.

Ex.: To select track 32 while playing track 6 in

the CD changer

First time you press “+10” or “–10,” the track skips to the nearest higher or lower track with a track number of multiple ten (ex. 10th, 20th, 30th). Then each time you press the button, you can skip 10 tracks.

• After the last track, the first track will be selected and vice versa.

SIRIUS® radio operations

About SIRIUS radio

SIRIUS is a satellite radio that can deliver digital-quality sound. SIRIUS has 65 music channels which are all commercial-free and 50 channels of sports, news, and entertainment programs.

You can enjoy and control the SIRIUS radio digital entertainment channels from the receiver by connecting the JVC SIRIUS radio DLP—Down Link Processor (optionally purchased) to the CD changer jack on the rear.

• You can also connect the JVC SIRIUS radio PnP (Plug and Play), KT-SR1000 or KT-SR2000, using the JVC SIRIUS radio adapter, KS-U100K (not supplied). By turning on the power of the receiver, you can turn on/off the JVC PnP. However, you cannot control it from this receiver.

GCI (Global Control Information) update:

• If channels are updated after subscription, updating starts automatically. “Channels Updating XX%* Completed” appears and no sound can be heard.

• Update takes a few minutes to complete.

• Do not press any button/icon or perform any operation until updating has been completed.

Before operating your SIRIUS radio:

• For connection, see Installation/ Connection Manual (separate volume).

• Refer also to the Instructions supplied with your SIRIUS radio.

Before you can listen to JVC DLP, activate your SIRIUS subscription after connection:

How to clean the touch panel

When removing stains or dust on the surface, turn off the power, then wipe with dry soft cloth.

How to clean the connectors

Frequent detachment will deteriorate the connectors. To minimize this possibility, periodically wipe the connectors with a cotton swab or cloth moistened with alcohol, being careful not to damage the connectors.

Moisture may condense on the lens inside the CD player in the following cases:

• After starting the heater in the car.

• If it becomes very humid inside the car.

Should this occur, the CD player may malfunction. In this case, eject the disc and leave the receiver turned on for a few hours until the moisture evaporates.

How to handle discs/SD cards

When removing a disc from its case, press down the center

holder of the case and lift the disc out, holding it by the edges.

• Always hold the disc by the edges. Do not touch its recording surface.

When storing a disc into its case, gently insert the disc around the center holder (with the printed surface facing up).

• Make sure to store discs into the cases after use.

SD cards are precision products. DO NOT impact, bend, drop, or wet them.

A dirty disc may not play correctly. If a disc does become dirty, wipe it with a soft cloth in a straight line from center to edge.

• Do not use any solvent (for example, conventional record cleaner, spray, thinner, benzine, etc.) to clean discs.

New discs may have some rough spots around the inner and outer edges. If such a disc is used, this receiver may reject the disc. To remove these rough spots, rub the edges with a pencil or ball-point pen, etc.

Basic operations

General

• The clock in the “BACK” icon on the screen works as the time countdown indicator. If no operation is done for a certain period of time, the current screen goes off, and the source operation screen resumes.

Selecting the source

• When no disc or SD card is loaded in the receiver, “CD” or “SD” cannot be selected.

• Without connecting to the CD changer, “CD-CH” cannot be selected.

• To select the “EXT-IN” for the playback source, set the “Ext Input” setting correctly (see page 29).

Turning off the power

• If you turn off the power while listening to a disc, disc play will start from where playback has been stopped previously, next time you turn on the power.

Tuner operations

Storing stations in memory

• During SSM search... – All previously stored stations are erased and

stations are stored newly.

Received stations are preset in No. 1 (lowest frequency) to No. 6 (highest frequency).

– When SSM is over, the station stored in

No. 1 will be automatically tuned in.

• When storing a station manually, a previously preset station is erased when a new station is stored in the same preset number.

Disc/SD card operations

Caution for DualDisc playback

• The Non-DVD side of a “DualDisc” does not comply with the “Compact Disc Digital Audio” standard. Therefore, the use of NonDVD side of a DualDisc on this product may not be recommended.

General

• This receiver has been designed to reproduce CDs/CD Texts, and CD-Rs (Recordable)/ CD-RWs (Rewritable) in audio CD (CD-DA), MP3 and WMA format and MP3/WMA files recorded in an SD card.

• When a disc or an SD card has been loaded, selecting “CD” or “SD” for the playback source starts playback.

• When a track or folder whose number is greater than 99 is selected, the icon before the number ( assigned 3-digits number).

Inserting a disc

• When a disc is inserted upside down, the control panel moves down, and the disc automatically ejects from the loading slot.

• If you keep the control panel open for about 1 minute, the control panel returns to its previous position.

• Do not insert 8 cm (3-3/16 and unusual shape discs (heart, flower, etc.) into the loading slot.

Playing a disc/SD card

• While playing an audio CD: If a title has been assigned to the audio CD (see page 32), it will be shown on the display.

• While fast-forwarding or reversing an MP3 or WMA track, you can only hear intermittent sounds.

• This receiver may be unable to play back some SD cards due to their characteristics or recording conditions.

Playing a CD-R or CD-RW

• Use only “finalized” CD-Rs or CD-RWs.

• This receiver can play back only the files of the same type which is first detected if a disc includes both audio CD (CD-DA) files and MP3/WMA files.

• This receiver can play back multi-session discs; however, unclosed sessions will be skipped while playing.

• Some CD-Rs or CD-RWs may not play back on this receiver because of their disc characteristics, and for the following causes: – Discs are dirty or scratched. – Moisture condensation occurs on the lens

inside the receiver. – The pickup lens inside the receiver is dirty. – CD-R/CD-RW on which the files are

written with “Packet Write” method. – Improper recording conditions (missing

data, etc.) or media conditions (stain,

scratch, warp, etc.).

• CD-RWs may require a longer readout time since the reflectance of CD-RWs is lower than that of regular CDs.

• Do not use the following CD-Rs or CD-RWs: – Discs with stickers, labels, or protective seal

stuck to the surface.

– Discs on which labels can be directly

printed by an ink jet printer. Using these discs under high temperatures or high humidities may cause malfunctions or damages to discs.

Playing an MP3/WMA track

• This receiver can play back MP3/WMA files with the extension code <.mp3> or <.wma> (regardless of the letter case—upper/lower).

• This receiver can show the names of albums, artists (performer), and ID3 Tag (Version 1.0,

1.1, 2.2, 2.3, or 2.4) for MP3 files and for WMA files.

• This receiver can display only one-byte characters. No other characters can be correctly displayed (see page 44).

• This receiver can play back MP3/WMA files meeting the conditions below: – Bit rate: 8 kbps — 320 kbps – Sampling frequency:

48 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 32 kHz (for MPEG-1) 24 kHz, 22.05 kHz, 16 kHz (for MPEG-2) 48 kHz, 44.1 kHz, 32 kHz (for WMA)

• The search function works but search speed is not constant.

Audio.

Ejecting a disc

• If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to prevent it from dust. (Disc will not play this time.)

Sound adjustment

General

• Sound adjustments cannot affect the Voice Support System (VSS: see page 29) output. VSS sound always comes out of all speakers connected.

• If you are using a two-speaker system, set the fader level to “0.”

• Subwoofer out setting takes effect only when a subwoofer is connected.

• You cannot change the input level—Volume Adjustment—of the FM stations. If the source is FM, “Fix” will appear when you try to adjust it.

• If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select “CD,” “SD,” or “CD-CH” for the playback source, playback starts from where it has been stopped previously.

folder. – If Intro Scan is activated. – If the source is changed to another from

Storing your own sound modes

• If you do not want to store your current adjustment, but only to apply the adjustment to the current playback source, press “BACK” repeatedly to go back to the operation screen of the current source. Adjustment you made remains effective until you select a sound mode.

• If the total frame number of an animation downloaded exceeds the following number, the frames exceeding that numbers are ignored. – For “OPENING” and “ENDING”: 30 – For “MOVIE”: 90

• If you change the “Amp Gain” setting from “High PWR” to “Low PWR” while the volume level is set higher than “Volume 30,” the receiver automatically changes the volume level to “Volume 30.”

Assigning titles to the sources

• If you try to assign a title to a 31st disc or a 31st station frequency, “Name Full” appears and you cannot enter the text entry mode. Delete unwanted titles before assignment.

• Titles assigned to discs in the CD changer can also be shown if you playback the disc from the receiver.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

To prevent short circuits, we recommend that you disconnect the battery’s negative terminal and make all electrical connections before installing the receiver.

• Be sure to ground this receiver to the car’s chassis again

after installation.

Notes:

• Replace the fuse with one of the specified rating. If the fuse blows frequently, consult your JVC car audio dealer.

• It is recommended to connect to the speakers with maximum power of more than 52 W (both at the rear and at the front, with an impedance of 4 Ω to 8 Ω). If the maximum power is less than 52 W, change “Amp Gain” setting to prevent the speakers from being damaged (see page 29 of the INSTRUCTIONS).

• To prevent short-circuit, cover the terminals of the UNUSED leads with insulating tape.

• The heat sink becomes very hot after use. Be careful not to touch it when removing this receiver.

You can connect amplifiers to upgrade your car stereo system.

• Connect the remote lead (blue with white stripe) to the remote lead of the other equipment so that it can be controlled through this receiver.

• For amplifier only: – Disconnect the speakers from this receiver, connect

them to the amplifier. Leave the speaker leads of this receiver unused.

– You can switch off the built-in amplifier and send the audio

signals only to the external amplifier(s) to get clear sounds and to prevent internal heat built-up inside the receiver. See page 29 of the INSTRUCTIONS (separate volume).

– The line output level of this receiver is kept high to

maintain the hi-fi sounds reproduced from this receiver. When connecting an external amplifier to this receiver, turn down the gain control on the external amplifier to obtain the best performance from this receiver.

You acknowledge that all copyrights and other intellectual property rights in the Software is owned by JVC and its licensor, and remain vested in JVC and such licensor. The Software is protected under the copyright law of Japan and other countries, and related Conventions.

2. Grant of License

(1) Subject to the conditions of the Agreement, JVC grants to You a non-exclusive right to use the Software.

You may install and use the Software on a HDD or other storage devices incorporated in Your PC.

(2) You may make a copy of the Software for the back-up and storage purpose.

3. Restriction

(1) The Software is made available in order You may use and/or process digital visual material, either still or

moving, to display on the screen of the Product. However, it should be noted that it may be unlawful to use and/or process copyrighted work, publicity or privacy embodied therein without the consent of the author or the owner of copyright or other rights, except as otherwise permitted by the applicable law.

(2) You may not modify, reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble (except to the extent as permitted by the

applicable laws) the Software in any manner. (3) You may not copy or use Software, in whole or in part, other than as expressly specified in this Agreement. (4) You have no right to grant a license to use the Software, and may not sell, lease or rent the Software to any

other person for any purpose.

4. Limited Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. JVC DOES NOT MAKE

ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF

MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. SHOULD THERE BE ANY PROBLEM

ARISING FROM OR CAUSED BY THE SOFTWARE, YOU SHOULD SETTLE ALL SUCH PROBLEM AT

YOUR OWN COSTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

5. Limitation of Liability

JVC WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT

OR OTHERWISE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, INCIDENTAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES EVEN

IF IT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. YOU WILL INDEMNIFY AND

HOLD HARMLESS JVC FROM ANY LOSS, LIABILITY OR COSTS ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY

CONNECTED TO CLAIMS FROM ANY OTHER PERSONS RELATING TO THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

6. Term

This Agreement will become effective on the date when You install the Software onto Your machine, and

continue to be in effect until the termination under the reasons as below:

Should You breach any provision of this Agreement, JVC may terminate this Agreement without giving

any notice to You. In this event, JVC may claim against You any damages caused by Your breach. Should

this Agreement be terminated, You should immediately destroy the Software stored in Your machine

(including the erasing from any memory in Your PC), and then will not possess such Software.

7. Export Control

You agree that You will not ship, transfer or export the Software or underlying information and technology

to any countries to which Japan and other relevant countries embargoed goods.

8. U.S. Government User

If You are an agency of the United States of America (the “Government”), You acknowledge JVC’s representation that the Software is a “Commercial Item” as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 2.101 (g) consisting unpublished “Commercial Computer Software” as those items are used at FAR part 12.212 and is only licensed to You with the same use rights JVC grants all commercial end users pursuant to the terms of this Agreement.

9. General

(1) No modification, change, addition, deletion or other alteration of or to the Agreement will be valid unless

reduced to writing and signed by an authorized representative of JVC.

(2) To the maximum extent permitted by the applicable law where the Software was acquired, any conditions

or warranties imposed or implied by law are hereby excluded. You may nevertheless have the benefit of certain rights or remedies pursuant to the applicable law in respect of which liability may not be excluded. In any case, however, JVC’s entire liability will be limited to those which apply to the Product.

(3) Even if any part of the Agreement is held invalid by or in conflict with any law having jurisdiction over

this Agreement, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

(4) The Agreement shall be governed by and interpreted under the laws of Japan. The Tokyo District Court

has jurisdiction over all disputes which may arise with respect to the execution, interpretation and performance of this Agreement.

Image Converter Overview

With the JVC Image Converter software you can produce a custom image to display on your JVC Car Audio screen. Image Converter generates a new file suitable for your unit’s display without changing the source image.

Not only can you display a still image, but you can modify an image so that it in effect becomes a mini animated movie.

The software is easy to use—all you need is a PC, access to a CD-R writing software, and source images. You’ll need the CD-R writing software so you can transfer your images to CD-R, because that’s how they are transferred to the Car Audio. You can also use an SD Memory Card* to tranfer your images. The Image Converter CD-ROM has a number of images and premade video animations you can use right away. JVC even has a site with images already in the correct format, which you can download and use as is, or as sources. * SD Memory Card compatible model only.

The Operation Guide within the computer program contain step-by-step procedures for all of Image Converter’s functions. The purpose of this manual is to explain what you can do with Image Converter, and the basics of how to do it.

Often, the instructions here will not be enough, but the step-by-step directions in the Operation Guide are not repeated, so by all means use the Operation Guide when you need procedures to carry out a specific operation.

Starting the Program

Once installed, to start the program, just click on the “Image Converter” shortcut that appears on your desktop, or go the “Programs” menu from the “Start” menu and select Image Converter.

You can get started quickly with the animation and still image files included in the Image Converter CD-ROM, or use other image files you may have after converting them into a supported format.

• To exit Image Converter, click on the Menu Bar.

For your convenience while using this manual, the four main function screens are displayed on pages 4 and 5 of this manual.

Animation in Image Converter

File Formats

The Car Audio unit will only detect two kinds of image files to produce graphic displays:

• .jll (still image—picture) and .jla (animation—movie).

You get files in these formats from the Image Converter CD-ROM, the web site, or by creating animations or still images with Image Converter from:

1. Still image files: .jpg, .png, .bmp

2. Movie files: .avi.

• Some applications create .avi files in their own special formats, which cannot be

used by Image Converter.

Animation Frames

Animation is simply making a large number of images, each of which is just a little different than the one before it. The human eye and brain can only see and understand separate images flashed past so fast—at a speed of more than 10 images per second it looks like continuous motion. Motion pictures are run at 24 frames per second, and computer games sometimes run much higher.

In making an animation from a still image, you select a start and end frame, and Image Converter makes the frames to move from the start to the end point by cutting them out on a path connecting the start and end frames.

Since a movie file already consists of a bunch of frames Image Converter just uses the frames between the start and end points you select. Of course it does not use the whole frame, just a piece of each one the size you have selected.

However, with a movie file, there may be more or fewer frames in the movie between the points you have specified than you have selected in the “Imported frame count” box. Image Converter understands this, and adds or subtracts frames as needed.

Although Image Converter can manage up to 90 frames per animation (movie,) the maximum importable number of frames differs among various JVC Car Audio models. Be sure to check your Car Audio instructions for the maximum number of frames before making an animation. Notice also that each ten frames will play for one second, and that the initial

value of frames is 30.

The basic idea is that you import a source image, then select a part of it as the starting frame, another part as the end frame, and the program fills in the frames between to move from the beginning frame to the end frame, thus giving you an animation. You can also make a still image from the source. You save the animation or the still image, in preparation for writing it onto a CD-R for transfer to or use in your JVC Car Audio unit*. * When your JVC Car Audio is compatible with SD Memory Card, you can also

use an SD Memory Card to transfer the images.

Since all of the functions to make and save the image in the correct file format are accessed from the program interface, understanding the interface will help you use Image Converter effectively.

The Interface

The interface—what you see when you start Image Converter—has all the functions on one screen. Just click on a tab or an icon to bring the screen you want into view. Image Converter’s interface is a little different than many Microsoft

Windows® programs. All the functions are accessed from screens that show up when you click on one of the three tabs, and from the Menu Bar along the top, which is described on

the next page.

Menu Bar

The icons on top are like action menu items—import, save, clear, etc. —and let you manipulate the images. Just hover your cursor over the icons on the screens, and text will pop up telling you what the function is.

Each function and part is explained in the Operation Guide—just click on the Question Mark Icon to bring up the Operation Guide. You can also check the information of the software version by clicking the same icon.

Preview section

Notice that the right hand side of the window always stays the same. Here is where you run simulations of your animation, and where you can select and modify individual frames adding color tint and removing frames you don’t want. The results of what you do in the tabbed function screens show up here as well for testing and fine tuning.

Creating a Custom Image

Now that you have the program installed, you can create custom images. You can make either an animation or a still image from both movie and still image files.

To create either a still image or an animation, first load a source image:

From the Source image screen click on in the Menu Bar and select an image to convert from the file selection dialogue box which appears.

The entire image may not fit in the source Image window, so you can adjust it with the “Size” box.

Note that Image Converter generates a new image file suitable for your JVC Car Audio screen, and does not modify the original image.

To create a still image (picture):

1 Input a 1 into the “Import frame count” box,

then click the Start button under “Frame position,” and you will see a small rectangle appear on the image. When the source is a movie, choose the frame you want with the slider bar or the “Frame No.” box. Adjust the size and position of this frame so that it contains the final picture you want to appear on your JVC Car Audio screen.

2 Click the Execute button.

Save the file you made (see page 19) and click the Clear button on the Preview section before making a new image.

To make an animation (movie):

1 Set the frame number between 2 and 90 in the “Import frame count” box.

2 Click the Start button under “Frame position,” and set the position and size of

the small rectangle which appears on the image so that it contains the first frame of your animation. When the source is a movie, choose the start frame with the slider bar or the “Frame No.” box before setting the rectangle.

3 Click the End button, then position and size the frame to set the last frame of

the animation. When the source is a movie, choose the end frame with the slider bar or the “Frame No.” box before setting the rectangle.

4 Click the Execute button. Image converter now creates the frames that will

make an animation along the path from the start frame to the end frame.

Advanced Techniques for Animations

Image Converter has many functions to help make animations. Here are two ways you can make more complex and interesting shows.

Creation Mode

In the “Creation Mode” drop down menu under the screen, you can specify just how the animation displays—for instance:

Scroll (A–>B–>A) runs the animation from the beginning frame to the end frame and then back again to the beginning frame.

The Operation Guide contains a detailed description of each effect, and they are easy to try out. To start over and try another effect, click on in the Menu Bar and the Delete or Clear buttons in the Preview section.

Importing multiple images

You can import several different images and combine them into one animation. Just keep using . Select the image to apply effects to, or to cut out a start and end image from, by picking it with the “Frame position slider” just under the

“Source image” window.

Pay special attention to the “Frame position slider.” All the imported images are located along this line, and you access the image and frame you want to affect by

locating it with the slider bar.

Adding Effects

The Effects screen, the Text display screen, and “Color” in the Preview section give you further control over how the final animation will display. Details are described thoroughly in Image Converter’s Operation Guide.

The “Effect” drop down menu is especially useful, as the resolution of the JVC Car Audio screen is not made to display fine detail. By enhancing the contrast, or the outline you can make the image show up much better. The Negative/positive reversal can create some very interesting effects. Even after clicking the OK button, you can cancel the effect and dithering with the Undo button. Try different effects and find your favorite one. See the Operation Guide under “Using the Effect tab” for special behavior of the Undo button as the text and effect undo functions are connected.

Remember, you can apply only one effect to all the frames of an imported image.

Adding Text

The Text display screen gives you the ability to put a short message, or title, across any given frame or group of frames. The text for each frame is independent of that on other frames, so when you make up a complete animation movie from several imported images, each importation can have different text, or no text, as appropriate. Even after entering texts, you can erase the text with the Undo button.

•The text is erased when you apply

the effects on the Effects screen after adding text. So, add text only after adding all the effects you want.

Adding Color

The Preview image created by Image Converter appears at first as a monochrome image. You can add color by adjusting the three color sliders at the bottom of the window for those JVC Car Audio units whose screens support it.

The color settings show immediately in real time as you make the adjustments.

Downloading the Edited Image

Using the Internet icon on the Image Converter, you can get the edited images for your Model from the Internet. Just click on the icon to launch your browser and go to the JVC site:

Saving and writing the image onto a CD-R/ SD Memory Card

Saving an image

Save an animation (movie) or a still image (picture) you made onto your PC.

Click on the Menu Bar.

The “Save As” dialogue box appears.

Name the file.

Type the file name into “File name” box. The appropriate extension (.jll for a still image and .jla for an animation) is added automatically.

Saving is finished.

• When your JVC car audio is compatible with SD Memory Card, you can save the files onto an SD Memory Card and directly access to them with JVC car audio.

• Repeat steps 1 to 3 if you have more images to save.

The resolution of the images Image Converter generates is fixed at 256 x 80 pixels with a four step gradation, which is the resolution of the JVC Car Audio display.
