Installation Guide
The Iomega® Microdrive™ 340MB conforms to the CF+™ Type II Standard.
With the PC card adapter, the Iomega Microdrive 340MB also can be used in devices that have a PC Card Type II slot.
Refer to the manual that came with your digital camera, hand-held PC, notebook PC, card reader, or other portable device to confirm either CF+ Type II or PC Card Type II compatibility and for instructions on how to insert or remove such devices.

Align the Iomega Microdrive 340MB with the PC card adapter. Insert the Iomega Microdrive 340MB carefully and firmly into the PC card adapter.
Windows 95 and 98 Users Must Install a Driver First:
1. Insert the application CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Insert the Iomega Microdrive 340MB into your notebook.
3. When the Found New Hardware dialog box appears, click Next.
4. When the Add New Hardware Wizard box appears:
95 Users: Select the CD-ROM drive and click Next. 98 Users: Select Search for the best driver for your device
(Recommended), and click Next.
5. Click Finish. The IBM Microdrive driver should now be
installed.
NOTE: When inserting or removing the Iomega Microdrive 340MB hold the PC card adapter, not the Iomega Microdrive 340MB.

Insert the Iomega Microdrive 340MB with the PC card adapter into your device (or notebook PC).
Refer to the manual that shipped with the device (or notebook PC) for instructions on inserting the PC card adapter into the device.
NOTE: Because IBM owns Microdrive technology, your computer will not display an Iomega icon by the Microdrive under My Computer or Windows Explorer. In addition, IomegaWare™ will not work with the Iomega Microdrive 340MB.
Insert the Iomega Microdrive 340MB directly into the CF+ Type II slot of conforming devices.
An example of how to insert the Iomega Microdrive 340MB is shown in the illustration.
CAUTION! Do not use the Iomega Microdrive 340MB in devices without ejection mechanisms, as removal may be difficult and may cause damage to the device.

Handling Tips and Registering Your Iomega® Microdrive™ 340MB
If your notebook does not recognize the Iomega® Microdrive™ 340MB:
With the Plug and Play feature of Windows® 95 and Windows 98, your notebook PC should automatically recognize the Iomega Microdrive 340MB. If it does not, do the following:
1. Select Start, then Settings, then Control Panel.
2. Double click the Add New Hardware icon and then select Next.
3. Select No in the Hardware wizard, and then select Next.
4. Sel ect Hard Disk Controllers as the hardware type, and select Next.
5. Select Standard IDE/ESDI hard disk controller, and select Next.
NOTE: Because IBM owns Microdrive technology, your computer will not display an Iomega icon by the Microdrive under My Computer or Windows Explorer. In addition, IomegaWare™ will not work with the Iomega Microdrive 340MB.

Handling tips
Following the suggestions below will optimize the usage of your Iomega Microdrive 340MB:
Back up your data regularly. Iomega cannot be held responsible for possible loss of data.
Always carry your drive and the PC card adapter in the plastic cases included in this package.
Do not drop your drive or PC card adapter.
Do not get the drive or PC card adapter wet.
Do not place the drive near a strong magnetic field.
Do not expose the drive to extreme temperatures.
Do not squeeze the external covers of the drive.
Do not apply additional labels.
Do not remove the labels.
Do not write on the label of the drive.
Do not use in CF+ Type II slots without an ejection mechanism.
Be careful when removing it from the host device—it may have become hot during operation.
