Learning About the Communications Dock
The Trakker Antares® TD2410 Communications Dock is an accessory for the Trakker Antares 2410 and 2415 Handheld T erminals. Use the communications dock to:
transfer data and applications to and from another device using RS-232 serial communications.
charge the standard (single-cell) or high-performance (dual-cell) lithium-ion battery packs.
Use this illustration to locate the important parts of the communications dock.

Setting Up the Communications Dock
Before setting up the communications dock, you need to choose a flat, stable, and clean surface that is within 1.5 m (5 ft) of an electrical source. You need the following equipment:
External power supply (P/N 065236 or P/N 073941)
AC power cord (see “Ordering Power Cords” later in this guide)
RS-232 null-modem cable (P/N 059167)
Each of these accessories is ordered or purchased separately. For help, contact your Intermec sales representative.
To set up the dock for RS-232 communications
1. Connect the external power supply to the power connector on the underside of the dock.
2. Route the external power supply out the back. Refer to the illustration below.
3. Connect the other end of the external power supply to the power cord.
4. Connect the other end of the power cord to an AC outlet.
5. Insert the 9-pin RS-232 connector into the COM port on the underside of the dock.
6. Route the RS-232 cable over the external power supply, across the dock, and out the back. Refer to the illustration below.
7. Connect the other end of the RS-232 cable to a serial device.

Attaching the Communications Dock to Your Desk
Use the mounting bracket that comes with your communications dock to attach the communications dock to your desk.
Y ou need the following equipment to attach the communications dock to your desk:
Mounting bracket (provided)
Two #8 Phillips head machine screws (provided)
Two #8 screws (not provided)
Phillips screwdriver (not provided)
Drill (not provided)
To attach the communications dock to your desk
1. Remove and set aside the two machine screws taped to the mounting bracket.
2. Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark where you need to drill the holes in your desk, remove the mounting bracket, and drill the holes.
3. Align the mounting bracket with the screws and holes in the underside of the dock and insert the mounting bracket into the underside of the dock. See the illustration on the next page.
4. Attach the mounting bracket to the dock using a Phillips screwdriver and the two machine screws that came with the bracket.
5. Align the dock and mounting bracket with the holes in your desk and attach the dock and mounting bracket to the desk with two #8 screws.
6. Connect the external power supply to the dock and an AC outlet. For help, see the previous section, “Setting Up the Communications Dock.”
7. Connect the RS-232 cable to the dock and to a serial device. For help, see the previous section, “Setting Up the Communications Dock.”
