Installation overview
Warning:
Observe the following precautions when handling Vision Server TIGW1U equipment:
Server power ON/OFF: The push-button on/off power switch on the front panel of the
server does not turn off the power. To remove power from the server, you must unplug
the power cord from either the power supply or wall outlet.
Hazardous conditions
• Power supply:
Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside the power supply
enclosure.
• Devices and cables:
Hazardous electrical conditions may be present on power, telephone, and
communication cables. Turn off the server and disconnect telecommunications
systems, networks, modems, and the power cord attached to the server before
opening it. Otherwise, personal injury or equipment damage can result.
Maintenance: There are no user-serviceable parts inside the Vision Server TIGW1U
chassis. Only technically qualified personnel should perform service and maintenance
tasks.
Avoid injury: Lifting the server chassis and attaching it to the rack is a two-person job. If
needed, use an appropriate lifting device.

Caution:Temperature: The operating temperature of the server, when installed in an equipment
rack, must not go below 5 °C (41 °F) or rise above 35 °C (95 °F). Extreme fluctuations in
temperature can cause a variety of problems in the server.
Ventilation: The equipment rack must provide sufficient airflow to the front of the server
to maintain proper cooling.
Codes and regulations: Ensure that the installation meets all government codes and
regulations concerning facilities. In addition, all sites where the Vision Server TIGW1U are
deployed must meet all local, national, and international codes.
The following table summarizes the steps required for installing the Vision Server
TIGW1U:

After the installation is complete, configure the Vision Server TIGW1U as described in
the documentation. Refer to the Accessing Vision Documentation document for
information about accessing the documentation.
Grounding the server
Before connecting the server to a power source, be sure it is properly grounded. The
server must be grounded using a two-hole #10x5/8 ground lug (Burndy
YAV102TC10-90 or equivalent). Use four #10-32 nuts, one under and one on top of
the ground lug as shown:

Connecting to a power source
If you are installing an AC server, connect a power cord to the AC connector on the
back of the server and plug the cord into an AC outlet.
To install a DC server, slide open the cover for the DC power connector and strip the
wire insulation back from the wire. Insert each wire all the way into the connector
and tighten the screw on top of the connector as shown:

Connecting Ethernet cables
To connect to a 10Base-T, 100Base-T, or 1000Base-T network, use two shielded
twisted pair (STP) Category 5 or better Ethernet cables. The two 10/100/1000Base-T
Ethernet connectors provide the line card with Ethernet connections supporting autonegotiation for 10, 100, and 1000 Base-T full duplex and half duplex transmissions.

Compliance statements
This notice must always be included with each product. Failure to provide this notice when supplying one
of the covered products will invalidate the approval for that product. VARs must provide the applicable
notices to their end-users in their system user manuals.
Electromagnetic compatibility
Warning:
This is a class A product. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio
interference in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.
Safety warnings
To preserve safety compliance, be sure to select a host and host attachments that are compliant with the
applicable safety requirements.
The power required by the host and the total of all adapter cards installed within the host environment,
together with any auxiliary apparatus, must not exceed the power specification of the host as stated in the
technical reference manual of the host apparatus. The power requirements for these product assemblies
are:
ModelPower requirements
AC 100-127/200-240 V~
DC -48 to -60 Vdc
Telephone companies report that electrical surges, typically lightning transients, are very destructive to
customer terminal equipment connected to AC power sources. The use of a surge arrestor on the AC line
is recommended.
Do not connect these products directly to a telecommunications network. These products must be
connected to a network terminating unit (NTU), CSU, or some other device that provides line isolation.
This allows the carrier's telecommunications network to be electrically isolated from the card and host
system.
These products are only to be connected to safety extra low voltage circuits. These products should only
be connected to the safety extra low voltage (SELV) port of the network termination unit (NTU) or PBX
that is providing the E1 or T1 interface. These products are for intra-building use only and should not be
connected to lines that run outside of the building where the telephony server is located. Failure to comply
with these requirements will invalidate the approvals.

Compliance
The Dialogic® products covered by this notice meet the following European Directives:
2006/95/EC Safety/Low Voltage Directive
2004/108/ECEMC Directive
99/05/EC R&TTE Directive
To achieve CE compliance, be sure to select a host that already meets the EMC and Low Voltage Directives
before the addition of any optional board. Remember that the use of option boards declared compliant
with the Directives by their manufacturer only gives "presumption of compliance" for the whole system. It
Dialogic Corporation 7
Installing the Dialogic® Vision™ Server TIGW1U
is the responsibility of the system supplier to verify that the requirements of the listed Directives are still
met by the final system, as supplied to the end-user. System integrators should take notice of further
conditions expressed in this section and the Safety section.
The products covered by this notice have been successfully tested against TBR 4 basic call control.
Application developers implementing supplementary services at application level must ensure that their
implementation complies with the services offered by the local Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
operator. In case of doubt, network specifications must be consulted; the R&TTE Directive imposes that
each PSTN operator makes such specifications available.
Inter-working is guaranteed only with Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTNs) offering Primary Rate
Access conforming to EuroISDN specifications.
Before any connection to PSTN offering Primary Rate Access to other national or international E1
standards, please consult your Dialogic representative.
Compliance with the R&TTE Directive
The R&TTE Directive includes its own safety and EMC requirements. Although equipment declared
compliant to the R&TTE Directive does not require explicit declaration of conformity to EMC and Low
Voltage Directives, the above conditions must also be met to satisfy the safety and EMC requirements of
the R&TTE Directive.
Inter-working is guaranteed only with Public Switched Telephone Networks (PSTNs) as described in the
sections above.
