accompanying the player.

Setting up your CD player
Power supply
To install the batteries (not supplied):
1 Open the battery compartment cover.
2 Insert two “AA” (LR6) alkaline batteries. Match the battery
polarities (+ and -) with those in the diagram inside the battery
compartment.
3 Replace the cover.

When the indicator flashes in the LCD display, replace the
batteries with new alkaline batteries.
For battery operation, the AC adapter lead must be disconnected
from the DC input jack.

To connect the AC adapter (not supplied):
1 Plug the round AC adapter plug into the DC input jack on the
player.
2 Plug the AC power cord into a standard household power outlet.
Earphones or headphones
To listen with the earphones:
1 Insert the plug of the stereo earphones (supplied) or stereo
headphones (not supplied) into the green PHONES jack.
2 Place the earphones or stereo headphones on your ears.

Avoid excessive sound levels and prolonged periods of listening
through earphones or headphones, which could impair your
hearing.

Using your CD player
Making connections
To connect the earphones:
•Plug the earphones firmly into the green PHONES jack. A poor
connection could generate noise during play.
Note
Inserting a CD
To insert a CD:
1 Open the cover by sliding the Open button to the right.
2 Place the CD firmly onto the center spindle, then close the CD
cover.
Refer to “Power supply” on page 5 for information on battery
operation.

Playing a CD
To play a CD:
1 Press the PLAY or PAUSE button.
2 Adjust the volume control to a comfortable level.
3 To stop, press the STOP button.
4 Press the STOP button again, twice, to turn off the power.

Removing the CD
To remove the CD:
1 Open the CD player by sliding the Open button to the right.
2 Remove the CD by pressing on the center spindle.
Additional functions
Repeat play
You can play tracks over again in either Normal or Program play
mode. You can also repeat all the tracks or just one track.
To repeat single tracks:
1 Press the MODE button while listening to the track you want to
hear again. The symbol is displayed in the LCD display.
2 To repeat another track, press the or SKIP or SEARCH
buttons.
3 To cancel Repeat play, press the MODE button three times.
To repeat all tracks:
1 Press the Mode button twice during play. The symbol is
displayed in the LCD display and all the tracks will be repeated,
one after another.
2 To cancel Repeat play, press the MODE button twice.
Intro play
To use Intro play:
1 Press the Mode button 3 times to enter the Intro mode, “INTRO”
flashes on the display.
2 Press the PLAY or PAUSE button. The CD plays the first
10 seconds of each track.
3 Press the MODE button once to cancel Intro play and resume
normal playback.
After all tracks have been played, power is turned off automatically
after 60 seconds.

Random track play
To play random tracks:
1 Press the RAND button once while the player is stopped.
“RAND” flashes in the LCD display and the player randomly plays
tracks.
2 To cancel Random track play, press the RAND button once again.
Programmed play
You can program up to 24 tracks in the order you select.
To play tracks in programmed order:
1 While the player is stopped, press the PROG button until “PGM”
flashes in the LCD display. The track number and order of play are
displayed.
2 Press the or SKIP or SEARCH buttons to choose a track.
3 Press the PROG button to include the track in the program.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to program all the tracks you want.
5 Press the PLAY or PAUSE button. The “PGM” symbol stops
flashing and the player plays the selected tracks in the order you
specified.
6 To cancel Program play, press the STOP button or open the
player’s cover.
To check the program:
•To check while you are programming, press the PROG button.
Each time you press the PROG button, the next track number
is displayed, in the order you specified.

Maintenance
Cleaning the case
Wipe with a soft cloth. If the case is very dirty, moisten the cloth with a
weak solution of non-caustic detergent and water.
Cleaning the lens
A dirty lens can cause skipping and can even stop the CD player from
working.
To clean dry particles and dust from the lens:
1 Open the CD cover.
2 Use a camera lens puffer/brush to blow repeatedly on the lens,
then wipe with the brush to remove dust.
3 Blow again to remove loose particles.
To clean fingerprints from the lens:
•If the lens does not come clean with the puffer/brush, wipe it
with a soft cotton cloth.
Cleaning CDs
Using a soft cleaning cloth, wipe the CD from the center outwards.
Caution
Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinners, commercial
cleaning fluids, or anti-static sprays designed for vinyl records.
