HP MFP Family Guide
Reduce costs, increase productivity and
improve workflow with multifunction devices.
For companies of every
size, choosing an HP
multifunctional printer makes
sound business sense.
And when choosing an MFP that combines print, copy, fax and
scan functions, look out for one that is built on a printer platform
rather than a copier platform. Simply because print is likely the
function that you use most often. Hence your priority should be
exceptional print quality, as well as performance, manageability,
ease of use, compatibility and reliability – the very attributes
you can expect of HP printers and MFPs.
Choosing a multifunctional printer
HP has a wide range of MFPs for every situation.
Here are a few things to take into account when
choosing one.
Choose MFPs if your organisation wants to:
• Reduce hardcopy costs
• Upgrade older single-function devices
• Decrease the number of hardcopy devices
• Move to a digital document-management system
• Manage all hardcopy devices over the network
• Standardise on a single printer or copier hardware
vendor or service provider
Versatile
Scan in pictures and print personalised marketing
materials, with crisp photo-quality colour, one minute.
Then make multiple copies of a report the next.
Send a fax effortlessly to multiple recipients, all from
one machine.
Ease of use
Expect an unsurpassed user experience with your MFP.
With the latest HP MFPs, you can easily access the
device’s features via HP’s award-winning Easy Select
Control Panel
with its new, radically simple user interface. Easily take
advantage of your MFP’s complete feature set
with an intuitive interface that clearly displays all
available applications.

Interface Design of its Multifunction Printers.”
Connectivity and management
HP Web Jetadmin provides full connectivity and
management of the HP and other printers in your
environment from a standard web browser. New
products are automatically discovered, and you can
carry out all installation, configuration, troubleshooting
and maintenance tasks remotely. You can also use the
HP Web Jetadmin to monitor printing supplies, and
reorder when necessary based on usage and demand.
The HP Universal Print Driver for Windows allows
enterprises to use just one intelligent driver across the
enterprise printing environment, reducing IT department
intervention and eliminating the possibility of network
print driver incompatibilities for end-users. It replaces
individual drivers for HP networked printers. By
deploying one full-featured driver, you virtually eliminate
the need for your IT staff to install and manage multiple
print drivers, saving both time and money in deploying,
testing, and supporting what could be hundreds of print
drivers as well as responding to end user calls.
Flexible
Choose the printer that suits your particular needs –
colour, black-and-white, single connection, networkready, single-sided or duplex, high or low print-volumes,
HP has a multifunctional printer for your specific needs.
Digital sending
To simplify document handling, HP offers Digital
Sending software as an option with many of its
multifunctional printers (MFP). By using Digital Sending
functions, paper documents can be emailed, faxed or
digitally captured and incorporated into business
process workflows simply and easily.
High quality
With print resolutions up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, your
documents will always be of the highest quality.
Solutions that enhance productivity and performance
Investing in – and strategically deploying – the right
solution can help your business stay ahead of
competition. Consider an MFP that allows you to
upgrade with solutions and extensions of functionality
for your business. Enable access to integrated thirdparty solutions via your device’s host USB port.
Maximise the return on your investment with business
process solutions in the areas of document capture, job
accounting, and security.
HP digital senders and HP MFPs and printers offer
industry-leading security capabilities and solutions
that are designed to enable secure management,
network communications, output, access, and
device integrity.
Colour vs black-and-white
Colour can lift even the simplest documents and make
them more attractive and readable. If you need colour
also consider whether you will need photographic
quality or not. However, if you only need to print high
quality black-and-white documents, then choose from
our LaserJet printers.
Color Access Control — HP’s suite of Color Access
Control features, available on some HP Color LaserJet
MFPs and printers, lets you closely monitor colour use,
enable or disable colour by individual users or groups
or even applications, disable colour printing and
copying entirely until it is needed for special projects,
and report costs back to specific clients, projects,
workgroups, or departments.
Print speed and volumes
Consider how many pages you print in a month and
look for an MFP with a duty cycle which will cover it.
Also, if you often print long runs of documents, make
sure you choose a high print-speed.
Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)
Unless you only need to copy documents on an
occasional basis, an Automatic Document Feeder
will save a great deal of time.
Duplex
Printing reports, marketing materials and even letters on
both sides can save a significant amount in paper costs.
