TO485
Temperature regulator with balanced single-seat piston valve
(Cooling water regulator)
Product specification sheet
pplication
TO485 temperature regulators are used in commercial and
industrial installations where the operating temperature in the
system is to be limited to a preset value. The TO485
temperature regulator is therefore especially suitable for use
in cooling systems.
The integral strainer protects the regulator against individual
loose dirt particles which may be circulating through the
system. Where dirt is constantly present, a separate
upstream strainer must also be fitted where dirt is constantly
present (see "Accessories").
Special Features
• Actuator with pressure-balanced valve - fluctuating inlet
pressures have no influence on the control temperature
• Integral strainer
• Soft-seat valve
• Thermostat with standard setting range 30 °C to 100 °C
• Over-temperature safety protection at 50 K above the set
value
• Sensor phial with 3m long capillary
• Separate immersion pocket
Construction
The temperature regulator comprises:
• V25 actuator with union connectors
• Integral strainer
• T445 thermostat
Materials
• Brass housing
• Brass union connectors
• Corrosion resistant synthetic material valve seat
• NBR seals
• Stainless-steel strainer
• Nickel-plated brass thermostat immers ion phi al
• Heat conducting sheath between sensor phial and
immersion pocket
• Thermostat can be replaced without draining the system

TO485 temperature regulator
Method of Operation
The TO485 temperature regulator operates on the expansion
principle. As the temperature at the sensor increases or
decreases, the fill medium expands or contracts and this
causes the piston to move, which then closes or opens the
valve. The valve then permits only the amount of flow of
heating medium to pass through which is required to maintain
the set temperature.
