CLEANING
We recommend that
you clean the humidifier
once a week, or more
often if you:
• Have hard water
• Notice a build-up of
impurities
• Detect unpleasant
odours
It is normal for deposits
from tap water to collect in the base. DO
NOT USE SOAP, DETERGENTS OR ABRASIVE
CLEANSERS.
Normal cleaning
involves two steps:
SCALE REMOVAL and
DISINFECTING. Be sure
to perform these in the
proper order to avoid
harmful chemical interactions.
• First, turn off and
unplug the humidifier.
Wait at least ten minutes for the humidifier
to cool.
• Remove the two
handled Water Tank.
• Remove the Power
Unit by pulling out the
Locking Knob and lifting
up from the base (Figure
3). Never remove the
Power Unit until the
humidifier has cooled.
• DO NOT clean the
Power Unit or heating
element under running
water. Doing so may
cause damage or
personal injury.
• Use a dry, soft cloth
to wipe the surfaces.
Step #1: Weekly Scale
Removal
• Lift the removable
tray out of the unit.
• Fill the Base with one
8 ounce (250 mL) cup of
undiluted white vinegar.
Let solution stay for 20
minutes.
• While the vinegar is
in the Base, clean all
the interior surfaces
with a soft brush or
cloth to remove the
scale.
• Flush the Base thoroughly with clean,
warm water to remove
any scale and vinegar.
NOTE: The Removable
Tray is dishwasher safe.
If you use this method
you can skip the weekly
disinfecting step.
Step #2: Weekly
Disinfecting
• Be sure the water
tank is empty. Fill with 1
teaspoon chlorine
bleach and 1 US gallon
(3.7 litres) water. Let the
solution stay in the tank
20 minutes, swishing
every few minutes to
wet all surfaces.
• Empty the tank after
20 minutes. Rinse with
water until the bleach
smell is gone.
• Repeat this process
for the Removable Tray
if you have not cleaned
it in the dishwasher.
After disinfecting, reposition the Medicine Cup,
Removable Tray, Power
Unit (locking securely),
and the Water Tank in
the base.
