READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS HUMIDIFIER. SAVE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR EASY REFERENCE.
WHEN USING ANY ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE FOLLOWED INCLUDING:
1.
This humidifier may not work properly on an uneven surface. Always place this humidifier on a firm, flat and level surface.
2. Place this humidifier in an area where it is not accessible to children.
3. Do not place the humidifier near any heat sources such as stoves, radiators and heaters.
4. Before using the humidifier, check the power cord for any signs of damage. If the cord is found to be damaged,
DO
NOT USE
and return the humidifier to Honeywell under the warranty agreement for repair.
5. This product is equipped with a polarized AC-line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. NEVER connect the humidifier to any power source other than a 120V AC polarized outlet. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact an electrician to replace the obsolete
outlet. DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
6.
The humidifier should always be unplugged and emptied when not in operation or while being serviced or cleaned.
7. Never tilt or attempt to move the humidifier while it is operating or filled with water. UNPLUG the humidifier before moving.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
8. This humidifier requires regular cleaning. Refer to the CLEANING instructions provided. Never clean the humidifier in any manner other than as instructed in this manual.
9. Turn the humidifier OFF if the relative humidity exceeds 60%. For proper humidity readings use a hygrometer which is available in many hardware and department stores.
INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a HONEYWELL HWM-2030 WARM MOISTURE HUMIDIFIER with humidistat.
Before using your humidifier, we would like to explain the benefits of maintaining your home or office at the proper humidity level.
HEALTH
Your body needs moisture to stay healthy and comfortable. Dry air can be damaging and irritating. The Honeywell Warm Moisture Humidifier can help relieve:
• Dry, itchy skin and chapped lips.
• Cold symptoms and congestion.
• Dry, scratchy throat and coughs.
For serious medical conditions, always consult
your physician prior to use.
ENVIRONMENT
Maintaining the proper moisture level in your home or office with your Honeywell Warm Moisture Humidifier will also help to:
Replace needed moisture in furniture.
Keep indoor plants moist and healthy.
Eliminate cracking and dryness in wood furniture and fixtures.
Minimize static electricity.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Water passes into the Power Unit where it is heated and purified. The Warm Moisture System then pulls the air through the top vent and disperses invisible, moisture-balanced air into the room
.
This humidifier produces warm moisture. It automatically shuts off when the tank is empty or removed, or when the Power Unit is removed.
SET-UP
Select a firm, level, flat location at least six inches (15cm) away from any wall for proper air flow and convenient to an electrical outlet.
Place the humidifier on a water-resistant surface, as water can damage furniture and some flooring.
FILLING
We recommend that the humidifier be disinfected prior to the first use. Please see CLEAN- ING instructions.
Remove the Water Tank by grasping the handle and pulling straight up (Figure 1).
Turn the Water Tank upside-down so that it is facing up; unscrew the fill cap by turning it counter-clockwise and set the cap aside.
Fill the tank with COOL tap water (Figure
2). DO NOT USE HOT WATER. Distilled water is not necessary as the water is purified by the heating element.
Replace the Fill Cap by turning it clockwise.
DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
NOTE: WHEN CARRYING THE FILLED WATER TANK, PLEASE USE THE HANDLES ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE TANK FOR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT.
Turn the Water Tank right-side up.
Position the Water Tank into the humidifier and push it into place.
Some water will flow into the Reservoir Base when the filled tank is properly positioned.
Once the filled tank is in place, do not attempt to move the humidifier. If it has to be moved, unplug the unit and remove the Water Tank prior to moving.
NOTE: DO NOT POUR WATER INTO THE GRILL ON THE TOP OF THE UNIT. DOING SO MAY DAMAGE THE HUMIDIFIER AND COULD CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

OPERATION
With the power switch in the OFF position, plug the filled humidifier into a polarized 120V outlet.
DO NOT FORCE THE POLARIZED PLUG INTO THE OUTLET; it will only fit one way.
CAUTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLUG THE HUMIDIFIER IN WITH WET HANDS AS AN ELECTRIC SHOCK COULD OCCUR.
Turn the Humidity Level Knob (Humidstat) to the HIGH (+) position.
NOTE: If the humidifier will not run, the humidistat may be set too low. Moving the Humidity Level Knob to a higher setting (clockwise) should restart the unit.
Set the Moisture Output control to the desired position:
-HIGH for fast humidifying
-LOW for quieter
operation.
Press the RESTART button located on the front of the unit. This will start the humidifier.
Allow 2 to 5 minutes for the base to fill with water and for the humidifier to begin producing moisture.
When a comfortable humidity level is reached, lower the Humidity Level setting slowly until the heating element shuts off. The Desired Humidity light will illuminate, indicating that the desired humidity has been reached.
The Humidistat will automatically restart the heating element each time the humidity level falls below the desired setting. This ON/OFF cycle will continue while the humidifier is in use.
NOTE: The power light will illuminate until the power switch is in the OFF position.
If condensation begins to form on the walls or windows, lower the Humidistat setting.
When you are finished using the humidifier, turn the Power Switch to OFF.
ALWAYS be sure to discard any water in the base each time you refill the Water Tank or finish using the humidifier.
REFILLING THE HUMIDIFIER
The humidifier will automatically shut off when it is empty (the power light will remain on). Refill the tank when the REFILL light goes on.
ALWAYS be sure to discard any unused water from the base or in the Water Tank when
refilling.
IMPORTANT: AFTER FILLING THE TANK AND REPOSITIONING IT ON THE HUMIDIFIER, THE RESTART SWITCH MUST BE PRESSED ONCE THE HUMIDIFIER HAS BEEN TURNED TO
AN ON POSITION. IF THE RESTART SWITCH IS NOT PUSHED, THE UNIT WILL NOT RESTART. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE.
USING THE MEDICINE CUP
A medicated vapour can be distributed into the air by using the Medicine Cup at the top of the humidifier.
To add medicine to the vapour cup:
Switch the humidifier to OFF and allow the removable Grill to cool down.
Lift the removable Grill off to access the Medicine Cup.
Remove the Medicine Cup from the Power Unit.
Carefully add liquid medication; do not fill the cup more than half full.
Carefully place the Medicine Cup back into the top of the Power Unit.
Replace the removable Grill back on the unit.
Switch the humidifier back on. Remember that you must press the RESTART switch each time you restart your humidifier.
After use, remove the Medicine Holder and clean any residue from the cup with warm water or in the dishwasher. Replace the clean Medicine Cup and Grill in the Power Unit.
WARNING: DO NOT USE any liquid medicine
other than those specifically recommended for use with a steam vaporizer. Do not pour medicine directly through the grill openings or add it to the water in the tank.
Honeywell assumes no responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of medications in this humidifier.
CLEANING
We recommend that you clean the humidifier once a week, or more often if you:
Have hard water
Notice a build-up of
impurities
Detect unpleasant odours
It is normal for deposits from tap water to collect in the base. DO
NOT USE SOAP, DETERGENTS OR ABRASIVE CLEANSERS.
Normal cleaning involves two steps:
SCALE REMOVAL and DISINFECTING. Be sure
to perform these in the proper order to avoid harmful chemical interactions.
First, turn off and unplug the humidifier. Wait at least ten minutes for the humidifier to cool.
Remove the two handled Water Tank.
Remove the Power Unit by pulling out the Locking Knob and lifting up from the base (Figure
3). Never remove the
Power Unit until the humidifier has cooled.
DO NOT clean the Power Unit or heating element under running water. Doing so may cause damage or personal injury.
Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the surfaces.
Step #1: Weekly Scale Removal
Lift the removable tray out of the unit.
Fill the Base with one 8 ounce (250 mL) cup of undiluted white vinegar. Let solution stay for 20 minutes.
While the vinegar is in the Base, clean all the interior surfaces with a soft brush or cloth to remove the scale.
Flush the Base thoroughly with clean, warm water to remove any scale and vinegar.
NOTE: The Removable Tray is dishwasher safe. If you use this method you can skip the weekly disinfecting step.
Step #2: Weekly Disinfecting
Be sure the water tank is empty. Fill with 1 teaspoon chlorine bleach and 1 US gallon (3.7 litres) water. Let the solution stay in the tank 20 minutes, swishing every few minutes to wet all surfaces.
Empty the tank after 20 minutes. Rinse with water until the bleach smell is gone.
Repeat this process for the Removable Tray if you have not cleaned it in the dishwasher.
After disinfecting, reposition the Medicine Cup, Removable Tray, Power Unit (locking securely), and the Water Tank in the base.

HEATING ELEMENT
If the output drops, or the REFILL light illuminates while there is water in the tank, the scale build-up needs to be removed from the heating element.
The heating element is on the bottom of the Power Unit. To access it, pull out the Locking Knob and lift the Power
Unit directly up and off the base. Turn it over.
BE SURE IT HAS COOLED SUFFICIENTLY, AND THE UNIT IS UNPLUGGED.
Use a non-metallic brush or a soft, dry cloth to wipe the outer surfaces of the heating element.
DO NOT clean the heating element under running water. Doing so may cause damage or personal injury.
How often you perform this special maintenance depends upon the hardness of the water you are using and how quickly mineral deposits form on the interior surfaces of the humidifier.
SPECIAL MAINTENANCE
END-OF-SEASON CARE AND STORAGE
Follow the weekly CLEANING instructions at the end of the humidifier season or when the humidifier will not be used for one week or more.
Let the humidifier dry completely before storing. Do not store the unit with water in the Reservoir Base or Water Tank.
Pack the unit in its original carton and store in a cool, dry location.
Remember to clean the humidifier at the start of the next humidification season.
