TORQUE TABLE
1. Remove the factory sway bar and components. Note the position of the end link and frame strap bolts.
2. As in Photos #1 and #2, install the new sway bar with polyurethane bushings, new end link assembly and U-plates. Install the sway bar by placing the lubricating the inside of the polyurethane bushings and placing them on the bar, then placing the strap over the bar. Install the original bolts into the frame. Do not tighten at this point.
3. Using the line drawing and Photos #2 and #4, assemble the end links on the vehicle’s lower control arms and on the sway bar arms. Do not over tighten the nuts, tighten just enough to cause the bushings to bulge slightly.
4. Align the end link in a vertical position by moving the sway bar in its mounts. Then tighten the frame bolts to 30 ft-lbs.
5. Bounce the vehicle and check for clearance on all undercarriage components while turning the front wheels full lock left then right. Be sure all nuts and bolts are securely fastened and double nuts used where necessary or provided.
6. Recheck your installation, look for clearance between gas lines, exhaust pipes, brake lines, wiring, etc. After one week of driving check your installation and periodically thereafter.
Maintenance and Inspection:
Your Hellwig Suspension Product is built to last. However, as with all vehicle systems, it requires routine inspection. Inspect your Hellwig installation looking for secure hardware and tight fitting brackets and bushings. If you do not perform this inspection, have your professional mechanic inspect as described.
