TEST INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: HOMEOWNER SHOULD TEST BREAKER MONTHLY.
Turn on power to load center or panelboard.

rc Test: Rotate the test sw itch in “Arc Test” direction to

check the ability of the breaker to detect arcing from phase to
neutral (above normal levels needed to run appliances).
Short Test: Rotate test switch in “Short Test” direction to

check ability of the breaker to detect low-level arcs from
phase to ground.
Breaker is functioning properly when circuit is interrupted,

handle moves to “TRIP” and “TRIP” flag appears in window.
Reset the breaker by moving the handle to

the “OFF” position then to the “ON” position.
CAUTION: THE ARC FAULT CIRCUIT BREAKER MUST
BE SUPPLIED WITH POWER FROM THE LOAD CENTER
DURING TEST. IF THE POWER IS ON AND EITHER OF
THESE FAIL TO TRIP, THE CIRCUIT BREAKER M AY BE
UNABLE TO DETECT ARCS. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER IS
DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED.
If arc fault circuit breaker t rips unexpectedly:
1. Reset the breaker using instructions above.
2. If tripping continues, a hazardous condition could exist and the
circuit should be inspected by a qualified electrician (for
complete information, see instruction sheet DEH- 40117.
