Situation:
A firmware anomaly has been identified which may cause erroneous results when the Self
Test portion of internal diagnostic MS_DIAGS is run from the TESTS screen or from
IBASIC. Only instruments with firmware revision A.10.04 will exhibit this failure mode.
Firmware revision A.10.07 and above corrects this anomaly.

The following errors may be reported:
- Error Code 0200 hex, Serial Comm Failure (Self Test from MS_DIAGS)
- Error Code 512 dec, Serial Comm Failure (*TST from IBASIC)
Reporting of these error codes during the Self Test at power-up are valid failures.
Solution/Action:
Check the current firmware revision of the instruments by pressing the SHIFT (blue)
key and then the DUPLEX key. The firmware revision is displayed in the upper right
hand corner of the CRT.
If the firmware revision is A.10.04, install the 8920/8921 Firmware Upgrade Kit (see
Parts Required). Do not implement this Service Note if the firmware revision is other
than A.10.04.
