Situation:
A problem has been noted in the A18 Spectrum Analyzer assembly which can result in a
screen (CRT) full of noise or mis-calibration. The problem has been traced to parasitic
oscillations caused by improper capacitive loading of the output buffer stage.
The following instruments are affected by this problem (Billings will NOT be accepted for
units other than the serial numbers listed below):

Solution/Action:
The A18 Spectrum Analyzer assembly has been re-designed to solve this problem.
Replace the A18 Spectrum Analyzer assembly with an exchange assembly (see Parts
Required). Chapter 10 of the 8920A Assembly Level Repair Manual contains removal
and installation instructions for the A18 assembly. Re-calibration of the instrument is
not required.
