This product is an optional front CF (compact flash) adapter for use with the
IM-310. The features of this product are listed below.
❏Enables the compact flash card to be attached and detached from the front.
❏In addition to matching up to the compact flash socket provided as
standard on the IM-310, it is also possible to use two compact flash cars
simultaneously.

CompactFlash cards are recognized as IDE-type hard disk drives.
❏Once you install the BaySwap software, you can insert and remove
CompactFlash cards while the IM-310 is in operation. BaySwap can only
be used under Windows NT.

Precautions during use
Take note of the following precautions when using this equipment.
❏This product must be attached to a front optional slot before it can be used.
It therefore cannot be used together with the optional CD-ROM drive unit
(OI-R06). Use the compact flash socket built into the main unit when the
CD-ROM drive is to be used.
❏If you do not install the BaySwap software, it is impossible to remove a
card during operation. BaySwap can only be used under Windows NT.
❏The software supplied (BaySwap) only supports the front CF adapter. It is
not possible to insert and remove cards during operations as the compact
flash socket is built into the main unit.
❏Consult your IM-310 dealer for details on purchasing compact flash cards.

Usage
Handling CompactFlash cards
The CompactFlash card is composed of precision electronic components.
The following actions may cause misoperation or failure to these
components, and must be avoided.
CAUTION
❏Do not touch the terminals of the CompactFlash card with your fingers or
any metal object, or electrostatic discharge may damage in tern al
components. Before touching the card, please discharge your electrostatic
charge by touching a metal fixture.
❏Before inserting or removing the CompactFlash card, please discharge
your electrostatic charge by touching a me tal fixt ure. Failure to do so may
damage the system.
❏If BaySwap is not installed, never remo ve the CompactFlash card during
system operation. If you have installed BaySwap, please refer to the
BaySwap operation procedure. Failure to observe these precautions may
result in system damage.
❏Do not bend or drop the card, and protect it from impacts.
❏Protect the card from excessive heat, moisture and direct sunlight during
use and storage.

Insert the compact flash card face up firmly into the slot to set it in place.

Press the eject button firmly. The compact flash card will be ejected slightly
from the slot to enable its removal.

Using BaySwap
Once you install the BaySwap software, you can insert and remove
CompactFlash cards while the IM-310 is in operation. BaySwap can only be
used under Windows NT.The software must first be installed from the floppy
disk supplied if it is to be used.
After installation, the BaySwap icon will reside in the task bar, as shown
below, when Windows NT is booted.

Operation procedure
Check to ascertain that reading and writing is not being performed on the
compact flash before detaching it.
1.Perform a left-hand click on the icon in the task bar, and then click on
[Change device in Swappabe Bay].
2.The following dialog box will be displayed. Attach or detach the car d at
this point.
3.Click on the [OK] button once the card has been attached or detached.
