If in doubt we recommend you contact a qualified electrician. Before installing your light fitting always:
Switch off the mains supply and remove the appropriate fuse or switch off the appropriate circuit breaker
before commencing installation.
Ensure that no one else has access that would enable the supply to be inadvertently reconnected.
This product is only suitable for connection to 240V~50Hz supply in accordance with Part P, UK Building Regulations
and current IEE Wiring Regulations and is not suitable for a Bathroom location.
The light fitting should be connected to a lighting circuit protected by a 5 amp fuse (or a 6 amp miniature circuit
breaker).
If the Class II, Double Insulated symbol

The terminal blocks are supplied according to requirements of the fitting.
If any modification is made it will invalidate the warranty and may render the product unsafe.
In order to use this fitting with a dimming circuit, please consult a Dimmer manufacturer for specific advice.
If there is a “Minimum Distance” Label, please do not allow Flammable Materials to rest within that distance from the
lamps. Never cover any light fitting, this can dangerously overheat the fitting.
the symbol which denotes
this requirement.
If the Light Fitting must not be mounted on combustible surfaces there will be the above symbol on it.
If there is no symbol then the Light Fitting may be mounted on any surface, including combustible.
1. Remove existing light fitting. Ensure there is a solid mounting, preferably a wooden joist or wooden joist bridge
to support the weight of the light fitting.
2. If there is a “Ring Circuit” and you do not understand the connections you must consult an electrician. The 4
connector in the terminal block or loose is used for the “Ring Circuit”.
3. Refer to generic diagram; the transformer housing represents a ceiling cup for different pendants, some of
which may have a solid centre stem, chain(s) or no stem where the lamp arms or holders are fixed to the body
of the fitting. All Fittings for Low Voltage Bulbs will have a similar ceiling cup but it may be larger in diameter
and flatter depending on the exact design. Refer to Additional Information sheet for extra steps to install your
particular fitting. A fixing bracket if used may have side screws as shown or be attached in a different way, refer
to the specific instruction sheet for your fitting.

4. In the generic diagram, unscrew the side screws (4) partially if their fixings are “L” shaped slots or completely, if
the fixings are holes; retain screws and washers. Other attachment methods may be used. Remove the fixing
bracket and use this as a template to mark and pilot drill the screw holes in the solid mounting (1). Otherwise
refer to specific instruction for fittings with a different arrangement for fixing to ceiling joist solid mountings.
5. Fix the bracket (if used) in the location using the screws (2) supplied.
6. Support your fitting and connect the house wiring according to the Terminal Block (3) diagram. Ensure no
strands of wire escape the terminal Block. When you are sure of the connections wrap a loose Terminal Block
(and overlap the wiring both sides) with 2 layers of insulation tape. Terminal Blocks in a Box or Fixed Terminal
Blocks with an Insulation plate underneath them do not require further insulation, but a loose individual 4
block for the “Ring Circuit” MUST have 2 layers of tape.
7. Fix your fitting to the ceiling in position on it’s bracket by reversing step 4 or by the appropriate method,
ensuring no wires are damaged, trapped or left exposed.
8. Install the Bulbs ( supplied ), do not install bulbs with a greater wattage than specified on the label.
9. Attach any Shades, Glass ones sometimes push onto a spring clip or screw onto the lamp holders. A Shade
Ring may alternatively be used to hold a Shade on which can be Glass or other material, using a tool supplied
to tighten the Shade Ring.
10. Some fittings may have “Strings” of beads and drops which must be attached after the actual installation of the
Light Fitting, please refer to the additional sheet if this is the case.
Generic Diagram (example only) Terminal Block (3) in Generic Diagram
Terminal blocks may be 2 or 3 way, loose in ceiling cup or attached to ceiling cup, or be the type in a
box. A loose 1 way terminal block is supplied to connect a Ring Circuit if present in the ceiling.
All Light Fittings for UK Market are designed for 240V ac, 50 Hz (220-240V ac)
