1. GENERAL PRECAUTIONS OPERATOR’S MANUAL

• Read the operator’s manual for your chain saw

carefully. Be thoroughly familiar with the chain saw’s controls and how to use the chain saw properly. Failure to follow instructions could lead to personal injury.

• If you have any questions or problems, please contact your ECHO dealer.

RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION

PHYSICAL CONDITION

• Do not operate a chain saw when you are fatigued or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• You should be in good physical and mental health in order to handle your chain saw safely. Errors in judgement or execution can be serious or fatal. If you have any physical condition which strenuous work could worsen, check with your physician before using a chain saw. Do not operate when ill or fatigued, or under the influence of any substance or medication which could affect your vision, dexterity or judgement.

PERSONAL EQUIPMENT

• Always wear approved goggles to protect your eyes. Wood chips, dust, snapping branches and other debris can be thrown by the cutting chain into the operator’s facial area. Goggles may also offer limited protection in the event of the cutting chain hitting the operator in the eye area. If conditions warrant that a ventilated face shield be worn, goggles must be worn underneath it.

• ECHO recommends wearing hearing protection at all times. If not followed, hearing loss can occur. You should reduce the risk of hearing damage by wearing either “headset” type protectors or ear plugs which are approved by an authorized organization.

• Sie dürfen nie vergessen, dass es für sorgfältige Handhabung und sichere Bedienung, die an anderer Stelle in diesem Handbuch beschrieben sind, keinen Ersatz gibt.

EQUIPAGGIAMENTO PERSONALE

• Indossate sempre occhiali approvati per proteggere i vs occhi. Trucioli, polvere, pezzi di rami e altri detriti possono essere scagliati dalla catena in faccia all’operatore. Gli occhiali possono offrire una protezione limitata nel caso la catena vada a colpire l’operatore proprio negli occhi. Se le condizioni di lavoro richiedono l’uso di una visiera traspirante, sotto di essa devono essere indossati occhiali protettivi.

• ECHO raccomanda di indossare sempre protezioni per le orecchie, altrimenti si può accusare la perdita dell’udito. Dovreste ridurre il rischio di danni all’udito indossando protezioni per le orecchie o cuffie approvate da un ente autorizzato.

CAUTION

Stuffing ears with cotton is not recommended.

• All persons who make part of their living using chain saws should be tested periodically for hearing deterioration.

• Always wear a cap or hat when working with a chain saw. A safety hard hat is highly recommended when felling or working under trees, or when objects can fall on you.

• Wear heavy duty, non-slip gloves for improved grip, and also for protection against cold and vibration.

• Safety tip shoes or boots with non-slip sole should be worn.

• ECHO empfiehlt, selbst bei kurzzeitiger Arbeit mit der Kettensäge Gehörschutz zu tragen, um Hörschäden zu vermeiden. Einen optimalen Schutz für Ihren Kopf bietet ein Schutzhelm mit integrietem Gesichts- und Gehörschtuz.

• Tragen Sie stets Spezialhandschuhe für den Umgang mit Kettensägen, wodurch die linke Hand besonders geschützt ist.

• Tragen Sie stets Waldarbeiterschutzhosen.

• Tragen Sie stets Waldarbeiterstiefel mit Zehenkappen aus Stahl und mit besonders geschütztem Blatt (Fußrücken). Alle Stiefel müssen rutschfeste Sohlen aufweisen.

ATTENZIONE

• Never wear loose clothing, unbuttoned jackets, flared

sleeves and cuffs, scarves, tie-strings, neckties, cords, chains, jewellery, etc. which could snag the saw chain or underbrush.

• Clothing should be of sturdy, protective material. It should be snug-fitting to resist snagging, but roomy enough for freedom of movement.

• Trouser legs should not be flared or cuffed, and should be either tucked into the boot tops or trimmed short.

• Safety vests, leg chaps and logger’s pants of ballistic material are available. It is the operator’s responsibility to wear such additional protection if conditions warrant it.

• Never operate a chain saw when you are alone. Arrange to have someone remain within calling distance in case you need help.

FUEL

WARNING DANGER

• PETROL AND FUEL ARE EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE. IF SPILLED OR IGNITED BY IGNITION SOURCE, IT CAN CAUSE FIRE AND SERIOUS INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. EXTREME CAUTION IS REQUIRED WHEN HANDLING PETROL OR FUEL.

• AFTER REFUELLING, TIGHTEN FUEL CAP FIRMLY AND CHECK FOR LEAKAGE. IN CASE OF FUEL LEAKAGE, REPAIR BEFORE STARTING OPERATION SINCE THERE IS A DANGER OF FIRE.

• Use an appropriate type of fuel container.

• Do not smoke or bring flame or sparks near to fuel supplies.

• Die Hosenbeine in die Sicherheitstiefel stecken, bzw. eng am Stiefel tragen.

• Arbeiten Sie niemals alleine. Es sollte sich, falls sie Hilfe benötigen, immer jemand in Rufweite aufhalten.

• Non indossate mai indumenti larghi, giacche aperte, maniche e polsi larghi, sciarpe, cinture, cravatte, catename e gioielleria, ecc. che potrebbe impigliarsi nella catena o nei cespugli.

• Gli indumenti dovrebbero essere di materiale robusto e protettivo e dovrebbero essere abbastanza aderenti da non impigliarsi e nel contempo sufficientemente comodi da lasciare libertà nei movimenti.

• I gambali non dovrebbero essere troppo larghi né con risvolti, e dovrebbero essere portati dentro gli stivali oppure con l’orlo corto.

• Sono disponibili gambali, camicie e pantaloni da boscaiolo di materiale tecnico. Rientra nelle responsabilità dell’operatore indossare una protezione aggiuntiva se le condizioni lo richiedono.

• Non usate mai la motosega se siete soli. Bisogna che ci sia qualcuno nelle vicinanze che possa essere chiamato nel caso abbiate bisogno di aiuto.

• KRAFTSTOFF IST HÖCHST ENTZÜNDBAR. FALLS KRAFTSTOFF VERSCHÜTTET WIRD, ODER SICH DURCH EINEN FUNKEN ENTZÜNDET, BESTEHT BRANDGEFAHR UND ES KANN ZU GESUNDHEITLICHEN ODER MATERIELLEN SCHÄDEN KOMMEN. GEHEN SIE BESONDERS VORSICHTIG MIT KRAFTSTOFF UM.

• NACH DER TANKBEFÜLLUNG DEN DECKEL FESTDREHEN UND VERSCHÜTTETES BENZIN ENTFERNEN. SOLLTE EIN TANKLECK AUFGETRETEN SEIN, DANN DARF DIE MOTORSÄGE WEGEN BRANDGEFAHR NICHT GESTARTET WERDEN. DER TANK MUSS AUSGEWECHSELT WERDEN.

• Nur zugelassene Kraftstoffbehälter benutzen.

• In der Nähe von Kraftstoffvorräten darf nicht geraucht werden, und es dürfen dort keine offenen Flammen oder Funken vorkommen.

• DOPO IL RIFORNIMENTO, SERRARE BENE IL

TAPPO DEL SERBATOIO, CONTROLLANDO CON ATTENZIONE CHE NON VI SIANO FUORIUSCITE DI CARBURANTE. IN CASO DI PERDITE, SISTEMARE PRIMA DI METTERE IN FUNZIONE LA MACCHINA, PER EVITARE IL RISCHIO DI INCENDIO.

• Utilizzare una tanica per carburante idonea.

• Non fumare o avvicinare fiamme o scintille al rifornimento di carburante.

• The fuel tank may be under pressure. Always loosen the fuel cap and wait for pressure to be equalized before removing the cap.

• Fill the fuel tank outdoors over bare ground and install the fuel cap securely. Do not pour fuel indoors.

• Wipe any spilled fuel off the unit.

• Never refuel while the engine is still hot, or fuel a running engine.

• Do not store the unit with fuel in its tank, because a fuel leak could start a fire.

• Bring an extinguisher or shovel in case of fire. Despite the precautions which can be taken, operating a chain saw, or just working in the forest, presents dangers.

STARTING ENGINE

• Move the chain saw at least 3 m from the fuelling point before starting the engine.

• Do not allow other persons to be near the chain saw when you are starting or cutting with the chain saw. Keep bystanders and animals out of the work area. Do not let anyone hold wood for you to cut.

• Do not start cutting until you have a clear work area, secure footing and a planned retreat path from the falling tree.

• Before you start the engine, make sure that the saw chain is not contacting anything.

• Keep the handles dry, clean, and free of oil or fuel mixture.

Otherwise, this can result in the chain saw “skating” or skidding, which can result in personal injury due to loss of control.

• Keep a good firm grip on the saw which both hands, with the right hand on the rear handle and the left hand on the front handle, when the engine is running. Use a firm grip with thumbs and fingers encircling the chain saw handles. A firm grip will help you reduce kickback and maintain control of the saw. Two hands must be used to control the saw at all times.

• Do not overreach or cut above chest height.

Exposure to cold and vibration may cause tingling and burning followed by loss of color and numbness in the fingers. We strongly recommend you take the following precautions because the minimum exposure which might trigger the ailment is unknown.

• Do not operate a chain saw in a tree unless you have been specifically trained to do so.

• Keep all parts of your body away from the saw chain when the engine is running.

• Use extreme caution when cutting small-size brush and saplings because slender material may catch the saw chain and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance.

WOOD PRACTICES

• Operating a chain saw safely requires a chain saw in proper working order, sound judgement, and knowledge of the methods which should be applied in each cutting situation.

• Do not let any person use your saw unless he has read this operator’s manual and fully understands its instructions.

• Never let children operate the saw.

• Use your saw only to cut wood or wood products. Do not cut solid metal, sheet metal, plastics or any nonwood materials.

• Stay on the uphill side when bucking or limbing logs which might roll when cut.

• Keep both feet on the ground. Do not work from offthe-ground positions.

CHAIN BRAKE

The chain brake’s function is to stop chain rotation after a kickback. It neither prevents nor reduces kickback. Do not depend on the chain brake for protection against kickback. Even with a chain brake, depend on your own good sense and proper cutting methods just as though there were no chain brake. Even with normal use and proper maintenance, the response time of the brake may lengthen. The following may interfere with the brake’s ability to protect the operator:

Die Aufgabe der Kettenbremse ist es, nach einem Rückschlag die Kette zu stoppen. Weder verhindert es den Rückschlag noch reduziert sie ihn. Verlassen Sie sich nicht auf die Kettenbremse um sich bei einem Rückschalg zu schützen. Auch mit einer Kettenbremse ist es unerläßlich, sich auf seine gute Wahrnehmung und korrekte Schnittmethoden zu verlassen, so als wäre keine Kettenbremse vorhanden. • Saw wrongly held too close to operator’s body. Kickback time may be too fast even for a perfectly maintained brake to work in time.

• The operator’s hand may not be in position to contact the hand guard. Brake will not be tripped.

• Lack of proper maintenance lengthens the brake’s stopping time, making it less effective.

• Dirt, grease, oil, pitch, etc. getting into the working parts of the mechanism may lengthen the stopping time.

• Wear and fatigue of the activating brake spring, and wear of the brake/clutch drum and pivot points may lengthen the brake’s stopping time.

• A damaged hand guard and lever may render the brake inoperative.

• Die Motorsäge wird zu nah an den Körper gehalten. Die Rückschlaggeschwindigkeit kann selbst für eine perfekt gewartete Bremse zu schnell sein.

FRENO CATENA

La funzione del freno catena è di arrestare la rotazione della catena dopo un contraccolpo. Non evita, né riduce i contraccolpi. Non fate affidamento quindi sul freno catena per proteggervi dai contraccolpi. Anche con un freno catena la sicurezza dipende dal vs buon senso e da un metodo adeguato di taglio lavorando come se il freno catena non ci fosse. Anche con un utilizzo normale, ed una manutenzione adeguata il tempo di reazione del freno può aumentare. Ecco cosa può interferire con l’abilità del freno di proteggere l’operatore:

• La motosega è troppo vicina all’operatore. Il tempo di reazione da contraccolpo può essere troppo

veloce anche per un freno mantenuto perfettamente, perché entri in azione in tempo.

• La mano dell’operatore potrebbe non essere in posizione di contatto con il paramano. Il freno non scatterà.

• L’assenza di una manutenzione adeguata aumenta il tempo di arresto del freno, rendendolo meno efficace.

• Lo sporco, il grasso, l’olio, sporcizia che vanno a finire nelle parti in movimento del meccanismo possono far aumentare il tempo di arresto.

• L’usura e la tensione continua della molla che attiva il freno, ed il logorio del tamburo frizione e il freno, come pure dei punti di articolazione, può aumentare il tempo di frenata.

• Unscrew two nuts and remove clutch cover.

• Install the spiked bumper on the front of machine. (Use two bolts.)

• Mount the bar and slide toward clutch to make saw chain installation easier.

• Install saw chain as shown. (Ensure cutters are pointing in the right direction)

• Release the chain brake, and install the clutch cover over the guide bar studs. Tighten two nuts finger tight. Ensure that chain tension adjuster fits into bar hole.

• Hold the bar nose up and turn the adjuster clockwise until the chain fits snugly against the underside of the bar.

3.Do not operate with a loose chain.

FUEL AND LUBRICANT

• Fuel is a mixture of regular grade petrol and an aircooled 2-stroke engine oil of reputable brand name.

Minimum 89 Octane unleaded petrol is recommended. Do not use fuel containing methyl alcohol or more than 10 % of ethyl alcohol.

• Recommended mixture ratio; 50 : 1 (2 %) for ISO-LEGD Standard (ISO/CD 13738), JASO FC grade and ECHO Premium 50 : 1 oil.

- Do not mix directly in engine fuel tank.

- Avoid spilling petrol or oil. Spilled fuel should always

be wiped up.

- Handle petrol with care, it is highly inflammable.

- Always store fuel in approved container.

Whenever opening up the fuel tank, always loosen the cap very slowly and wait for the tank pressure to be equalized before removing the cap.

CHAIN LUBRICANT

Proper lubrication of the chain while in operation reduces the friction between the chain and the guide bar to a minimum and assures a longer life time. Use only special chain oil of high quality for this purpose. Do not use any waste or reclaimed oil to avoid various problems with the oil pump. In case of emergency, it is allowed to use motor oil for a short time. SAE 30... in summer SAE 10... in winter or for the cutting of wood with a high

resin content.

NON-MANUAL CHAIN BRAKE

The non-manual chain brake stops the operation of the saw chain in such a manner that the kickback action produced at the end of the guide bar non-manually actuates the chain brake. To make sure that the non-manual chain brake operates properly, proceed as follows:

1) Stop the engine of the chain saw.

2) Operate the front and rear handles with hands (grip them lightly), so that the guide bar may be placed at the height of about 35 cm as shown in Fig.

4) The impact is transferred to the brake lever, which actuates the chain brake.

(PRECAUTION)

When checking the operation of the non-manual chain brake, use a soft surface substance like wood to provide the impact so the saw chain is not damaged.

Per assicuravi che il freno catena automatico funzioni correttamente, procedete come segue:

1) Spegnete il motore della motosega.

2) Afferrate le impugnature anteriore e posteriore con le mani, senza stringerle, in modo da tenere la lama guida alla distanza di circa 35 cm da terra, come illustrato in figura.

2. L’IMPUGNATURA POSTERIORE va tenuta leggermente con la mano destra.

3) Allentate la presa della mano sinistra dall’impugnatura anteriore, lasciando che il puntale della lama guida vada a cadere contro la tavola in legno (o materiale simile), in modo che la macchina riceva un colpo. In questa fase l’impugnatura posteriore deve essere tenuta leggermente con la mano destra.

4) Il colpo viene trasmesso alla leva del freno, che attiva il freno catena.

Quando controllate il funzionamento del freno catena automatico, fate urtare il puntale della lama guida contro un materiale dalla superficie morbida come il legno, in modo da non danneggiare la catena.

• At all times, confirm whether the brake works properly before each task.

• If the chain brake is clogged with wood chips, function of the brake deteriorates a little. Always keep the device clean.

• Do not increase engine revolutions while the chain brake is engaged.

• Chain brake is used in emergencies. Do not use it unless absolutely necessary.

CUTTING INSTRUCTION

GENERAL

In all circumstances the operation of the chain saw is a one-man job. It is difficult at times to take care of your own safety, so don’t assume the responsibility for a helper as well. After you have learned the basic techniques of using the saw, your best aid will be your own good common sense. The accepted way to hold the saw is to stand to the left of the saw with your left hand on the front handle so you can operate the throttle trigger with your right index finger. Before attempting to fell a tree, cut some small logs or limbs. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and the responses of the saw.

Start the engine, see that is running properly. Squeeze the trigger to open the throttle wide open, then start the cut. It is not necessary to press down hard to make the saw cut. If the chain is properly sharpened, the cutting should be relatively effortless. Pushing the saw too hard will slow the engine and cutting will actually be more difficult.

Some material may adversely affect the housing of your chain saw. (Example: palm tree acid, fertilizer etc.) To avoid housing deterioration carefully remove all packed saw dust around clutch and guide bar area and wash with water.

Sobald Sie die Grundlagen im Umgangs mit der Säge erlernt haben, ist Ihr bester Helfer lhr eigenener gesunden Menschenverstand. Gewöhnlich steht man links von der Säge, die linke Hand am vorderen Griff, die rechte Hand am hinteren Griff, damit Sie den Gashebel mit dem rechten Zeigefinger bedienen können. Bevor Sie versuchen, einen Baum zu fällen, zersägen Sie zunächst einmal kleinere Holzstämme oder Zweige. Machen Sie sich mit den Bedienungselementen und der Reaktionsweise der Säge ganz vertraut. Den Motor anlassen und darauf achten, dass er richtig läuft.

FELLING A TREE

A falling tree can seriously damage anything it may hit a car, a house, a fence, a power-line or another tree. There are ways to make a tree fall where you want it, so first decide where that is! Before cutting, clear the area around the tree. You will need good footing while working and you should be able to work the saw without hitting any obstacles. Next select a path of retreat. When the tree begins to fall you should retreat away from the direction of fall at a 45-degree angle and at least 3 m from the trunk to avoid the trunk kicking back over the stump. (See figure right, top)

Begin the cut on the side to which the tree is to fall. Cut a notch approximately 1/3 of the way into the tree.

(See figure A) The position of this notch is important since the tree will

try to fall “into” the notch. (See figure A) The felling cut is made on the side opposite the notch. Make the felling cut by placing spiked bumper 2.5 cm to

5 cm above the bottom of the notch and stop cutting at approximately 1/10 of diameter to the inner edge of the notch (See figure B) in order to leave the uncut portion of the wood as a hinge.

Do not try to cut through to the notch with the felling cut. The remaining wood between the notch cut and felling cut will act as a hinge when the tree falls, guiding it in the desired direction.

When the tree starts to fall, stop the engine, place the saw on the ground and make your retreat quickly.

To fell big trees with a diameter exceeding twice the bar length, start the notching cuts from one side and draw the saw through to the other side of the notch.

Start the back cut on one side of the tree with the spiked bumper engaged, pivoting the saw through to form the desired hinge on that side.

Then remove the saw for the second cut. Insert the saw in the first cut very carefully so as not to

cause kickback. The final cut is made by drawing the saw forward in the

cut to reach the hinge. (See figure C)

your weight.

TENSION AND COMPRESSION IN TIMBER

A length of timber lying on the ground will be subject to tension and compression, depending at which points the major support is.

When timber is supported at its ends the compression side is at the top and the tension side is at the bottom. To cut between these support points, make the first cut downwards approximately 1/3rd the timber diameter. The second cut is made upwards and should meet the first cut.

When the timber is supported at one end only, make the first cut upwards approximately 1/3rd the timber diameter. The second cut is made downwards and should meet the first cut.

CAUTION

If you have misjudged the effects of tension and compression, and cut from the wrong side, the timber will pinch the guide bar and chain, trapping it. Racing the engine with the chain jammed will burn out your clutch. If the chain should become jammed and the saw can not be removed from the cut do not force it out. Stop the saw, force a wedge into the cut to open it up. Never force the saw when it is jammed. Do not force the saw into the cut. A dull chain is unsafe and will cause excessive wear to the cutting attachments. A good way to tell when the chain is dull is when fine saw dust comes out instead of chips.

Ein fallender Baum kann schwere Schäden verursachen, wenn er auf ein Fahrzeug, ein Gebäude, einen Zaun, ein Stromkabel, oder einen anderen Baum fällt. Es ist durchaus möglich es so einzurichten, dass

ein Baum genau dorthin fällt wo er liegen soll. Sie müssen also zunächst einmal entscheiden, auf welche Stelle er fallen soll! Bevor Sie mit dem Sägen beginnen, müssen Sie um den Baum herum alle Hindernisse aus dem Weg räumen. Beim Arbeiten brauchen lhre Füße sicheren Halt. Außerdem müssen Sie in der Lage sein, so zu arbeiten, dass die Säge keine Hindernisse berührt. Danach stellen sie sicher, dass Sie freie Bahn haben, um sich in Sicherheit zu bringen. Sobald der Baum beginnt umzufallen, müssen Sie sich in einem Winkel von 45 Grad aus der Fallrichtung und midestens 3 m von dem Baum entfernen, damit Sie geschützt sind, falls der Baumstamm beim Niederschmettern über den Baumstumpf hinweg zurückschnellt. (Siehe das oberste Bild).

Mit dem Einschnitt auf der Seite beginnen, auf die der Baum fallen soll. Sägen Sie wie in (Bild A) dargestellt eine Kerbe auf ca. 1/3 Höhe des Baumstammes. Die Position der Kerbe ist wichtig, da der Baum versucht, “in die Kerbe zu fallen”. (Bild A). Der Fällschnitt wird an der Kerbe gegenüberliegenden Seite um 2.5 cm bis 5 cm oberhalb des unteren Kerbenrandes waagerecht angesetzt und endet ca. 1/10 des Baumdurchmesser vor erreichen der Kerbe. (Bild B). Versuchen Sie nicht über den Fällschnitt die Kerbe zu erreichen. Das verbleibende Holz zwischen Kerbe und Fälleinschnitt wirkt beim Fallen des Baumes wie ein “Scharnier” und lenkt den Baum in die gewünschte Fallrichtung. Wenn der Baum zu fallen beginnt, halten Sie den Motor an, legen die Säge auf den Boden und bringen sich schnell in Sicherheit.

Beim Fällen großer Bäume mit einem Durchmesser, der zweimal so groß ist wie die Länge der Kettenschiene, beginnen Sie mit den Kerbschnitten auf einer Seite und ziehen die Säge bis zur anderen Seite der Kerbe durch.

Mit dem hinteren Einschnitt auf der einen Seite des Baumes beginnen, wobei die Säge als Drehzapfen fungiert, um auf dieser Stelle das gewünschte “Scharnier” herzustellen. Die Säge für den zweiten Schnitt herausnehmen. Die Säge sehr vorsichtig in den ersten Einschnitt einsetzen, so dass sich kein Rückschlag ergibt. Der letzte Einschnitt erfolgt dadurch, dass die Säge nach vorn in den Einschnitt gezogen wird, um das “Scharnier” zu erreichen. (Bild C).

Ein am Boden liegendes Stück Holz ist bestimmten Zugund Druckkräften unterworfen, je nachdem, an welcher Stelle die Abstützwirkung am größten ist.

VORSICHT

Wenn Sie die Auswirkungen von Zug und Druck falsch einschätzen und von der falschen Seite aus sägen, verklemmt sich die Schneideinheit im Holz. Wenn Sie mit eingeklemmter Schneideinheit Gas geben, verbrennt die Kupplung. Sollte sich die Kette verklemmen, versuchen Sie nicht die Säge gewaltsam aus dem Einschnitt herauszuziehen. Kettensäge ausmachen, einen Keil in den Einschnitt treiben, der den Spalt öffnet, damit Sie Ihre Kettensäge frei bekommen. Kettensäge nicht mit Gewalt in den Einschnitt drücken. Das Arbeiten mit einer stumpfen Kette ist gefährlich und die Kettenschiene und das Kettenrad werden übermäßig abgenutzt. Eine stumpfe Kette erkennen Sie daran, dass beim Sägen Sägemehl anstatt Spähne entstehen.

ABBATTIMENTO DI UN ALBERO

Un albero abbattuto può danneggiare gravemente qualsiasi cosa colpisca: un’automobile, una casa, una palizzata, un cavo dell’elettricità o un altro albero. Vi sono tuttavia modi per far cadere un albero dove volete, quindi decidete prima la posizione! Prima di tagliare sgombrate l’area attorno all’albero. Avrete bisogno di libertà di movimento mentre lavorate e dovreste riuscire a lavorare con la motosega senza colpire nessun ostacolo. Selezionate poi una via di “ritirata”. Quando l’albero inizia a cadere dovreste allontanarvi dalla direzione di caduta ad un angolo di 45º e almeno 3 m di distanza dall’albero per evitare il contraccolpo del tronco sul ceppo (Far riferimento alla figura qui sopra).

Iniziate a tagliare sul lato in cui volete che cada I’albero. Praticate una dentellatura di 1/3 del diametro dell’albero, come da figura A. La posizione della tacca è importante dal momento che l’albero tenderà a cadere in direzione della tacca stessa (Vedi figura A). Il taglio di abbattimento varrà praticato sulla parte opposta del tronco. Effettuare il taglio di abbattimento posizionando il rampone di 2,5 cm a 5 cm al di sopra della parte inferiore della tacca, e interrompere il taglio di circa 1/10 del diametro dalla parte più interna della tacca (vedi figura B), in modo da lasciare una cerniera di legno. Non arrivare con il taglio di abbattimento fin dentro la tacca.

Il legno restante tra la dentellatura e il taglio di abbattimento fungerà da cerniera quando l’albero cade, guidandolo nella direzione desiderata. Quando l’albero inizia a cadere spegnete il motore, posate la motosega a terra e allontanatevi lungo la via di ritirata.

Per abbattere alberi di grandi dimensioni, con un diametro di due volte superiore alla lunghezza della barra, iniziate a praticare la dentellatura da un lato e muovete la motosega fino all’altro lato della dentellatura. Cominciate con il taglio di abbattimento su un lato della pianta, agganciandovi il rampone, e facendo perno con la barra fino a formare la cerniera in legno desiderata. Quindi estrarre la barra per il secondo taglio. Inserire la barra nel primo taglio facendo attenzione ai contraccolpi. Il taglio finale si effettua affondando la barra e procedendo nel taglio fino al raggiungimento della cerniera (vedi figura C).

Il legno, nella sua lunghezza, posato a terra sarà soggetto ad una tensione e compressione a seconda dei punto in cui si trova il supporto maggiore.

Quando il legno è supportato alle estremità, il lato della compressione è nella parte superiore, e quello della tensione nella parte inferiore. Per tagliare tra questi punti di supporto, effettuate il primo taglio verso il basso di circa 1/3 del diametro del tronco in legno. Il secondo taglio viene fatto verso l’alto e dovrebbe congiungersi con il primo taglio.

Quando il legno è supportato solo ad una estremità fate il primo taglio verso l’alto di circa 1/3 del diametro del tronco. Il secondo taglio viene fatto verso il basso e dovrebbe congiungersi con il primo taglio.

ATTENZIONE

Se non avete calcolato bene gli effetti della tensione e della compressione, e se tagliate dal lato sbagliato, il legno comprimerà la barra e la catena, impigliandola. Se fate andare il motore, e la catena è impigliata nel legno, si brucerà la frizione. Nel caso la catena si impigliasse e non si riuscisse a togliere la motosega dal tronco, non esercitate pressione per toglierla. Fermate la motosega, inserite un cuneo nel taglio per aprirlo. Non forzate mai sulla macchina quando è incastrata, né spingete la lama nel taglio. Una catena non affilata non è sicura e procurerà un logorio eccessivo agli accessori di taglio. CARBURETTOR

• Do not adjust the carburettor unless necessary.

• To adjust the carburettor proceed as follows:

- Turn the low speed mixture adjuster (L) and high speed mixture adjuster (H) anticlockwise to stop.

- Start engine and allow it to run at high idle until warm.

- Turn the idle speed adjuster (T) anticlockwise until the saw chain stops moving.

VERGASER

• Vergaser nur dann verstellen, wenn es unumgänglich ist.

• Zum Einstellen des Vergasers folgendermaßen vorgehen:

- Leeraufgemischeinstellung (L) und

Volllastgemischeinstellung (H) entgegen im Uhrzeigersinn bis zum Anschlag drehen.

- Motor anlassen und auf höher Leerlaufdrehzahl

warmlaufen lassen.

- Leerlaufdrehzahleinstellung (T) entgegen im

Uhrzeigersinn bis Kette stehen bleibt.

SERVICE

- Turn idle speed adjuster (T) anticlockwise an additional 1/2 turn.

- Accelerate to full throttle to check for smooth transition from idle to full throttle.

CAUTION

When starting, idle speed adjuster (T) should be adjusted not to rotate the saw chain. When there is some trouble with the carburettor, contact your dealer.

WARTUNG

• Loosen three screws and remove air cleaner cover and filter. Brush off dust lightly, or clean with compressed air, or replace the air filter.

• In case of fuel leakage or exudation there is a danger of fire. Stop using the machine immediately and request your dealer to inspect or replace.

- A clogged filter will cause difficulty in starting engine or abnormalities in engine performance.

- Pick up the fuel filter through fuel inlet port with a piece of steel wire or the like.

- When the filter is dirty, replace it.

- When the inside of the fuel tank is dirty, it can be cleaned by rinsing the tank out with petrol.

2. Oil filter

• Check periodically.

- Do not allow dust to enter oil tank.

- A clogged oil filter will affect the normal lubricating system.

- Pick it up through oil filling hole with a piece of steel wire or the like.

- If the filter is dirty, wash it in petrol or replace it.

- When the inside of the oil tank gets dirty, it can be cleaned by rinsing the tank out with petrol.

- Keinen Staub in den Öltank eindringen lassen.

- Durch einen verstopften Ölfilter wird das Schmiersystem beeinträchtigt.

- Den Filter mit Hilfe eines Stücks Stahldraht oder dgl. über den Einfüllstutzen herausziehen.

- Ein verschmutzter Filter ist mit Benzin zu reinigen oder auszutauschen.

- Falls der Öltank innen schmutzig ist, wird er mit Benzin ausgespült.

- Quando la parte interna del serbatoio carburante è sporca può essere pulita risciacquandola con la benzina.

- State attenti a non far entrare polvere nel serbatoio dell’olio

- Se il filtro olio è ostruito la lubrificazione sarà compromessa.

- Estraete il filtro attraverso il foro di rifornimento con un pezzo di filo in acciaio o simile.

- Se il filtro è sporco pulitelo con la benzina o sostituitelo.

- Quando l’interno del serbatoio olio si sporca può essere pulito risciacquandolo con la benzina.

- Clean oil holes with a wire.

- When the sprocket has worn out 0.5 mm or more,

replace it.

• Check sprocket when you install new chain. Replace it if worn.

KETTENRAD

• Durch ein beschädigtes Kettenrad wird eine Sägekette beschädigt bzw. sie verschleißt vorzeitig.

- Wenn das Kettenrad um 0.5 mm oder mehr

abgenutzt ist, muss es ausgetauscht werden.

• Zahnrad beim Montieren einer neuen Kette überprüfen. Bei Verschleiß austauschen.

Ersetzen Sie die Kettenschiene und die Sägekette nur durch von ECHO zugelassene Teile.

• The discharge volume of the automatic oiler is

adjusted to 7 mL/min approximately at 7,000 r/min, prior to shipment from factory.

- To increase the delivery volume, turn the adjusting screw anticlockwise. When the adjusting screw touches stopper and stops, this position indicates maximum discharge volume. (13 mL/min at 7,000 r/min)

- Do not turn the adjusting screw beyond the maximum or minimum limit of volume adjustment.

- The standard spark gap is 0.6 to 0.7 mm.

- Correct the spark gap if it is wider or narrower than the standard gap.

• Fastening torque: 15 to 17 N·m (150 to 170 kgf·cm)

Never operate a chain saw with a dull or damaged chain. If the chain requires excessive pressure to cut or produces dust instead of wood chips then inspect the cutters for damage. When sharpening the chain the

objective will be to maintain the same angles and profiles throughout its life as when it was new.

Inspect the chain for damage or wear every time you refuel your chain saw.

When the length of the cutting teeth has worn down to only 4 mm the chain must be replaced.

1. Lock the chain - push hand guard forward. To rotate the chain - pull hand guard against front handle.

2. Your chain will have alternative left and right hand cutters. Always sharpen from the inside out.

3. Keep the angle lines of the file holder parallel to the line of the chain and file the cutter back until the damaged area (side plate and top plate) has been removed.

4. Hold the file tipped 10° upward.

5. Sharpen the most damaged cutter first and then take all the other cutters back to the same length.

3. Position the depth gauge, and file off any of the depth control which protrudes.

Die folgenden Fehler erhöhen das Risiko eines Rückschlags erheblich.

2) Winkel der Seitenplatte ist zu klein

3) Feilendurchmesser ist zu klein

4) Tiefenbegrenzer ist zu hoch.

• Drive link serves to remove sawdust from the groove of the guide bar. Therefore, keep the lower edge of the drive link sharp, indicated as 5.

- When setting of the chain is finished, soak it in oil and

wash away filings completely before using.

- When the chain has been filed on the bar, supply

sufficient oil to it, and rotate the chain slowly to wash away the filings before using again.

- If the chain saw is operated with filings clogged in the

groove, the saw chain and the guide bar will be damaged prematurely.

- If the saw chain becomes soiled with resin for

instance, clean it with kerosene and soak it in oil.

• Das Antriebsglied dient zur Beseitigung von Sägestaub aus der Nut der Führungsschiene. Die Unterkante des Antriebsglieds (s. Pfeil 5) ist daher scharf zu halten.

- Nach dem Schärfen der Kette ist diese in Öl

einzuweichen und verbleibender Feilstaub vor dem Einsatz ganz zu entfernen.

- Nachdem eine Kette auf der Führungsschiene gefeilt

wude, muss sie mit ausreichend Öl behandelt werden. Die Kette dann langsam von Hand drehen, um Feilstaub zu entfernen, bevor sie wieder benutzt wird.

- Wenn die Sägeketten bei durch Feilstaub verstopfter

Nut benutzt wird, werden die Sägekette und die Führungsschiene vorzeitig abgenutzt.

- Falls sich die Sägekette mit Harz zusetzt, ist sie

mittels Petroleum/Paraffin zu reinigen und anschließend in Öl zu schwenken.

• La maglia motrice serve a rimuovere la segatura dalla scanalatura della barra. Mantenere quindi sempre affilata l’estremità inferiore della maglia motrice, come indicato dalla freccia 5.

- Quando avete completato la regolazione della

catena, mettetela a bagno nell’olio e togliete completamente la limatura prima dell’uso.

- Quando la catena è stata limata sulla barra

applicatevi una quantità sufficiente di olio, fate ruotare la catena lentamente per togliere la limatura prima di uare di nuovo la motosega.

- Se la motosega viene usata con la limatura

insediatasi nella scanalatura, la catena e la barra verranno danneggiate prima del tempo.

- Se la catena della motosega si sporca di resina,

pulitela con cherosene mettetela a bagno in olio.

A. Place a clean cloth over the spark plug hole. B. Pull the recoil starter handle 2 or 3 times to

distribute the oil inside the engine.

C. Observe the piston location through the spark

plug hole. Pull the recoil starter handle slowly until the piston reaches the top of its travel and leave it there.

NOTE

• For future reference, you should keep this operator’s manual.

• If this operator’s manual has become illegible through impairment or is lost, please purchase a new one from your ECHO dealer.

• When renting or lending this machine to a person who will operate it, always include this operator’s manual, which provides explanation and instructions.

9. Install the spark plug (do not connect ignition cable).

9. Die Zündkerze eindrehen (das Zündkabel nicht anschließen).

Gewährleistungs- und Garantiebestimmungen für ECHO- Motorgeräte

Verehrter Kunde ! Sie haben sich zum Kauf eines ECHO-Motorgerätes

entschieden und damit einen qualitativ hochwertigen und zuverlässigen Helfer für ihre Arbeiten erworben. Damit sie lange Freude an dem Gerät haben, ist es zwingend notwendig die Maschine nur nach dem bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendungszweck einzusetzen und regelmäßige Wartungs-

und Inspektionsarbeiten vorzunehmen. Mindestens 1 x jährlich muss das Gerät von einer autorisierten ECHO Werkstatt gewartet werden. Wir weisen ausdrücklich darauf hin, dass trotzdem noch manche Teile dieses Gerätes einem normalen Verschleiß unterliegen und deshalb ausgetauscht werden müssen.

Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung:

Diese Universalmotorsäge dient zum Schneiden von schwachbis mittelstarkem Holz bis zu einem Durchmesser von 35 cm sowohl im privaten Einsatzbereich, als auch in der Bau- u. Forstwirtschaft sowie in der Landschaftspflege. Darunter versteht man das Fällen kleinerer u. mittlerer Bäume, das Entasten und das Aufsägen von liegenden Stämmen oder Bauholz. Das moderne, ergonomisch geformte Griff und Kettenbremssystem dieser Maschine hilft mit das Unfallrisiko zu vermindern, trotzdem sollte vor allem jeder „Erstsäger“ sich vom Fachhändler genau einweisen lassen, oder aber an einem speziellen Motorsägenlehrgang teilnehmen um den richtigen Gebrauch der Säge unter fachlicher Anleitung zu erlernen. Die Säge darf nicht als Antriebsaggregat für andere Geräte oder Arbeitswerkzeuge eingesetzt werden.

Garantiebedingungen der Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte

Die folgenden Garantiebedingungen sind eine freiwillige zusätzliche Leistung der Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte, die der Kunde den Ausführungen entsprechend in Anspruch nehmen kann. Die Gewährleistungsansprüche des Kunden gegenüber seinem Vertragspartner, dem autorisierten ECHO-Fachhändler, bleiben durch die genannten Garantieleistungen unberührt. Er kann diese Gewährleistungsansprüche geltend machen, ohne die Garantiebedingungen zu beachten.

1. Die Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte behält sich immer das Recht vor zur Abwicklung des Garantieanspruchs Dritte, insbesondere autorisierte ECHO-Vertragswerkstätten einzuschalten. Entscheidungsbefugt über einen Garantieanspruch bleibt aber die Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte.

2. Bei ausschließlich privater Nutzung des ECHO Produktes beträgt die Garantiezeit 24 Monate. Bei auch gewerblicher oder beruflicher Nutzung 12 Monate.

3. Die Garantiefrist beginnt mit dem erstmaligen Kauf, nachgewiesen mit einem maschinell gedruckten Beleg, der in der Buchhaltung des Händlers registriert wurde. Bei einem Weiterverkauf durch den Kunden beginnt die Garantiefrist nicht von neuem. Werden Arbeiten im Rahmen der Garantie durchgeführt, insbesondere der Austausch von Teilen, so hat dies keinen neuen Beginn

der Garantiefrist zur Folge.

4. Die Garantieleistung erstreckt sich nur auf Mängel, die auf Material- oder Herstellungsfehler, sowie auf die Nichterfüllung zugesicherter Eigenschaften zurückzuführen sind. Der Anspruch ist beim autorisierten ECHOFachhändler geltend zu machen. Die in der Gebrauchsanleitung aufgeführten Wartungs- und Pflegearbeiten gehen zu Lasten des Eigentümers.

5. Garantieansprüche sind zunächst auf Nacherfüllung d.h. Nachbesserung bzw. Ersatzteillieferungen beschränkt.

6. Wird die Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte aufgrund der Garantie in Anspruch genommen, dann ist die Fa. ECHO bemüht den autorisierten Fachhändler mit den notwendigen Ersatzteilen schnellstmöglich zu beliefern. Ein Anspruch des Kunden auf sofortige Lieferung ist ausgeschlossen. Ausdrücklich betonen wir, dass eine verzögerte Lieferung keinen Anspruch auf Schadenersatzforderung gegen die Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte begründet. Außerdem führt diese auch nicht zur Verlängerung der Garantiezeit. Im übrigen weisen wir ausdrücklich darauf hin, dass gesetzliche Schadenersatzansprüche des Kunden gegen den Verkäufer wegen zu später Ausführung von Gewährleistungsansprüchen davon unberührt bleiben.

7. Ausschluß von der Gewährleistung 7a. Von der Garantieleistung ausgenommen sind Schäden die

infolge unsachgemäßer Bedienung und unsachgemäßer Reparatur durch Dritte, wegen mangelhafter Pflege und Wartung oder wegen falschem Gebrauch entstanden sind. Des weiteren sind Beschädigungen durch Fremdeinwirkungen und/oder Fremdkörper sowie Versandund Transportkosten von der Garantie ausgeschlossen. Voraussetzung für einen Garantieanspruch ist der Nachweis einer jährlichen sachgerechten Inspektion bei einer autorisierten ECHO-Werkstatt.

7b. Auch bei bestimmungsgemäßem Gebrauch des ECHO-

Motorgerätes unterliegen wesentliche Teile einem normalen Verschleiß und der natürlichen Alterung. Diese Teile müssen je nach Art und Dauer der Nutzung rechtzeitig ersetzt werden. Darunter fallen alle Teile die sich drehen / antreiben bzw. Arbeitswerkzeuge. Dazu gehören unter anderem: Kette, Schiene, Zündkerze, AVDämpfungsgummis, Luftfilter, Ölfilter, Kraftstofffilter, Fliehkraftkupplung, Kettenrad, Reversierstarter.

8. Die Bedienungs- und Gebrauchsanleitung des Gerätes ist Bestandteil der Gewährleistungs- und Garantiebestimmungen. Darin sind Hinweise zur sachgerechten Pflege, Wartung und Bedienung enthalten. Diese Hinweise sind vom Benutzer genauestens zu beachten. Die Bedienungs- u. Gebrauchsanleitung liegt jedem Gerät bei. Ergänzend zur Gebrauchsanleitung finden Sie hier nachstehend Hinweise und Ratschläge, die Sie zum Erhalt der Garantieansprüche zwingend befolgen sollten.

Verschleiß minimieren, Schäden vermeiden

Das Einhalten der Vorgaben in dieser Gebrauchsanleitung vermeidet übermäßigen Verschleiß und Schäden an diesen ECHO-Motorgeräten. Die Benutzung, Wartung und Lagerung dieses ECHO Motorgerätes müssen so sorgfältig wie in der Gebrauchsanleitung beschrieben erfolgen. Vom Benutzer selbst zu verantworten sind alle Schäden, die durch Nichtbeachtung der Sicherheits-, Bedienungs- und Wartungshinweise verursacht wurden. Dies gilt insbesondere in folgenden Fällen:

a) nicht von der Fa. ECHO Motorgeräte freigegebene

Veränderungen am Produkt

b) nicht bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung des ECHO-

Motorgerätes

c) Einsatz des ECHO-Motorgerätes bei Wettbewerbs- und

Sportveranstaltungen

d) Folgeschäden auf Grund von Weiterbenutzung des ECHO-

Motorgerätes trotz defekter Bauteile

e) Verwendung nicht von ECHO freigegebener Werkzeuge,

Anbauteile u. Anbaugeräte.

Wartungsarbeiten

Die in der Gebrauchsanleitung im Kapitel Wartungsarbeiten und Pflegehinweise aufgeführten Arbeiten müssen regelmäßig durchgeführt werden. Voraussetzung für einen Garantieanspruch ist der Nachweis einer jährlichen sachgerechten Inspektion bei einer autorisierten ECHOWerkstatt. Bei Versäumnis dieser Arbeiten können Schäden auftreten, die dann der Benutzer selbst zu verantworten hat. Dazu zählen unter anderem:

a) Motorschäden infolge nicht rechtzeitig oder unzureichend

durchgeführter Wartung (falsche Vergaser-Einstellung, unzureichende Reinigung von Luft- und Kraftstofffiltern sowie der Kühlluftführung.)

b) Korrosions- und andere Folgeschäden in Folge

unsachgemäßer Lagerung

c) Schäden und deren Folgeschäden durch Verwendung von

anderen als ECHO-Originalersatzteilen.

d) Schäden durch Wartungs- oder Reparaturarbeiten in nicht

von ECHO autorisierten Fachwerkstätten.

Technische Weiterentwicklung

Wir von ECHO arbeiten ständig an der Weiterentwicklung sämtlicher Maschinen und Geräte. Änderungen des Lieferumfanges in Form Technik und Ausstattung müssen wir uns grundsätzlich vorbehalten. Aus Angaben und Abbildungen dieser Gebrauchsanleitung können deshalb keine Ansprüche abgeleitet werden.
