MAGNETRON ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
WARNING
TO AVOID THE RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, PERSONAL INJURY, OR DEATH: DISCONNECT POWER TO THE OVEN AND DISCHARGE THE CAPACITORS
BEFORE SERVICING THE OVEN OR FOLLOWING ANY DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE.
1.) Disconnect power.
2.) Remove screws from rear flange of top panel, slide top panel back approximately one inch, and lift top panel off.
3.) Carefully pull back rubber insulator and discharge capacitor. Re-position rubber insulator. Note that the capacitors will hold an electrical charge long after power is disconnected.
4.) Repeat step 3 for second capacitor.
5.) Remove 2 wires from the faulty magnetron and 2 wires from the snap disc thermostat that is attached to the magnetron.
6.) With an 11/32 socket or nut driver, remove the four 8-32 hex nuts from the base of the magnetron and lift magnetron assembly, including anode gasket off of the waveguide.
7.) Remove the new magnetron from the box, and check that the anode gasket is properly installed. Install gasket if not already in place.
8.) Insert the new magnetron assembly onto the mounting studs. Install the four 8-32 hex nuts and tighten alternately to seat magnetron squarely onto the waveguide and provide an electrical seal.
9.) Re-attach the magnetron and snap disc thermostat wires.
10.) Re-install top panel.
