INSTALLATION
• Place the appliance on a working surface
away from water taps and sinks.
• Check that the mains supply corresponds to the
voltage on the appliance rating plate. Connect
the appliance to a correctly-earthed power
socket (minimum rating 10A) only. The manufacturer declines all liability for any accidents
due to the incorrect earthing of the appliance.
• Never install the machine in environments
where the temperature may reach 0°C or
lower (the appliance may be damaged if the
water freezes).
• If the power cable is longer than the distance
required to reach the power socket, the extra
length may be stored inside the machine by
pushing the cable inside the corresponding
opening.
• Lift the cover (fig. 2) and remove the accessories stored in the appliance (filter disk, filter
basket, water tube).
Do not immerse the body of the appliance in
water, simply rinse the inside with water and
wipe with a sponge and detergent if required.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
HOW TO PREPARE THE COFFEE
• Fill with fresh clean water up to the mark corre-
sponding to the number of cups of coffee to be
prepared (fig. 3). Do not fill the appliance beyond
the 6 or 12 cup mark (depending on model). In
certain models, the quantity of water can be seen
in the special window (I) (fig. 3). Otherwise, check
the graduated scale inside the appliance.
• Damp the filter basket (C) and thread it onto the
tube (D) (fig. 4). Pour in the required quantity of
coffee.
• Insert the filter disk (B) (fig. 5) and place the tube
+ filter basket + filter disk assembly into the appliance, making sure the tube is correctly positioned
in the centre (fig. 6).
• The flavour of the coffee can be made more or
less intense by simply rotating the thermostat knob
(F) between the LIGHT position (delicate flavour)
and DARK (strong flavour) (fig. 7).
When prepared with the knob in the LIGHT position, it is normal for the coffee to be cooler than
when made in the DARK position.
The setting of the thermostat knob can also be
changed during operation. For example, if the
knob is in the DARK position, you can interrupt
coffee delivery by turning the knob to the KEEP
WARM position.
If the knob is in the LIGHT position, you can turn
the knob to the DARK position and resume operation for a further period of time until a higher temperature is obtained and the coffee has a stronger
flavour.
• Place the appliance on the base. The appliance
starts operating when plugged into the mains socket. The indicator light (G) (fig. 8) comes on.
Coffee preparation takes about one minute per
cup. At the end of this time, the appliance automatically enters the KEEP WARM mode and indicator light (E) (fig. 9) comes on.
Bear in mind that the KEEP WARM function continues even if all the coffee is not poured. The thermostat senses that the liquid in the appliance is still
hot and does not resume coffee making (even
when the thermostat knob is positioned between
LIGHT and DARK).
If the coffee pot is removed and filled with cold
water, when the knob is between LIGHT and
DARK, the appliance immediately starts preparing
coffee.
IMPORTANT: make sure the cover is well closed
before using the appliance.
You are recommended not to place the appliance
when empty on the base plugged into the mains
socket to avoid heating it up unnecessarily and
wasting energy.
