About the heating in your home....

What is a Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV)? How do they work?

Why do I have them fitted in my home?

RAS-D2 TRV

INTRODUCTION

The radiators in your home are fitted with a THERMOSTATIC RADIATOR VALVE (TRV). This TRV enables you to have individual rooms set at different temperatures for your heating comfort and helps with heating economy.

Once set, the TRVs must NOT be operated like a normal valve, which is either open or closed.

HOW THE TRV WORKS

RUNNING COSTS

When the air temperature of the room reaches the setting on the dial, the TRV will turn the radiator off. The radiator will stay off until the room temperature falls sufficiently for the TRV to turn the radiator back on. This automatic turning on and off will keep the room at a steady temperature. Individual rooms can be set for different temperatures. This cooling of the radiator is a sign that the TRV is working as it should.

The correct setting of your TRVs will help to provide savings on your heating costs.

FAULTS

If, after following the advice in this leaflet, the radiator fails to come on or go off, please notify your installer.

SETTING THE TEMPERATURE

INSTALLER DETAILS:

Turning the dial sets the thermostat; it should be set to a number which gives you a comfortable temperature in the room, then LEFT ALONE. For example, if the dial is set to 3 and you are not warm enough, turn the dial up to the number which provides the temperature you are comfortable with.
