1 . . Introduction

1.1 About this manual

This manual relates to the comfort air curtain, models CY Q, which are intended specifically for application within Daikin direct expansion systems.
This manual contains information and instructions for installa­tion, operation and maintenance, which are specific to these particular unit models.

1.2 How to use this manual

1.2.1 General

This manual is a leading. It should be read in the written order.
From this manual, references are made to:
the manual of the Biddle CITY model Comfort Air Curtain
the manuals of the Daikin system components (outdoor unit, indoor unit, operation panel, etc.)
Before carrying out any work on this appliance, read this man­ual, and all referred sections in other manuals, completely through in the presented order.

1.3.1 System operation

The air curtain is connected within a Daikin direct expansion system. Air discharged by the appliance is heated by the refrig erant.

The air curtain is controlled and operated by the Daikin sys­tem.

1.3.2 Limitations

The unit can only be applied within Daikin direct expan­sion systems.
The unit is not suitable for cooling.

1.3.3 Models and type references

Ta b l e 1-2 provides an overview of the models, that are described in this manual, and their corresponding type refer­ences. Combined, the type references constitute the type code, for instance: CY Q-S-100-DK-80-F. Several combina

1.3.5 Components and accessories

Daikin components
The following components are required with an installation:
outdoor unit
optional: one or several indoor units
Daikin operation panel
materials necessary for connection, e.g. refrigerant pipes, cables, etc.: see the outdoor unit’s Installation Manual.
Note:
n The outdoor unit’s control system and capacity index must
match with those of the air curtain unit. These are referred to by the type code: see section
1.3.3.

1.4 Safety instructions

1.4.1 Operation

Warning:
w Do not put any objects in the inlets and outlets.
Warning:
w Do not block the inlets and outlets.
Warning:
w The upper surface of the unit becomes hot during
operation.
Caution:
c Water may leak from the unit in exceptional situations. Do
not place anything under the unit that may suffer damage as a result of any leakage.

d The unit may be opened by qualified technical staff
only.
