The Clarion DPX1001.2 is a full-featured two-channel amplifier that
incorporates the following features:
• Digital Technology for high efficiency and high power output.
• Full frequency response with low distortion and exceptional signal to noise
performance.
• Advanced circuitry design that features bridgeable and mixed mode oper ation for use in various audio systems, including those with satellite speakers and/or subwoofers.
• Variable low-pass electronic crossover with a 12dB or 24db per octave
slope and full adjustable range (from 55Hz to 550Hz) to aid in audio system configuration.
• Variable bass boost circuit to reinforce low frequency signals that may be
lost due to subwoofer box design.
• Adjustable input level controls with ground loop isolation, allowing a wide
range of input signals.
• Remote turn-on with “soft start” muting to prevent turn on “thump”.
• Pulse-width modulated (PWM) MOSFET power supply with low AM RFI
and protection circuits for overheating and speaker shorts.
• 1-ohm load capability to drive a variety of speaker systems (stereo mode)

DESCRIPTION
• The Clarion DPX1001.2 two-channel amplifier provides 150 watts x2 into a 4
ohm load, 300 watts x2 of power into a 2 ohm load. and 500 watts x2 into a 1
ohm load. This full featured model is an excellent choice for a variety of car
audio sound system configurations.
• The DPX1001.2 uses an unregulated MOSFET power supply for superior
control of output wattage. A toroid-coil transformer yields maximum power
transfer with minimal heat loss. Extensive attention to circuitry design keeps
AM RFI at low levels, so you won’t hear unwanted noise when the level is
cranked up. Protection circuits safeguard the amplifier when overheating,
speaker shorts, or improper load conditions occur.
• All connections and controls of the DPX1001.2 are on the end panels and
are easy to understand. Gold-plated RCA and barrier connectors are used to
ensure the best electrical connection for your system. Included is a wired
remote sub level control (BC2) for adjusting the amplifier gain from the front of
the vehicle.
• Multimode operation is a unique feature that allows the DPX1001.2 to maximize power output at different loads. In the regular mode (loads of 4 ohm or 2
ohm stereo), the power output is 150 watts x2 into 4 ohms and 300 watts x 2
into 2 ohms. With a 1 ohm load, the power output will increase to
500 watts x 2. This feature will accommodate various system configurations.
NOTE: Activation of the 1 ohm mode will occur when the output load is 1 ohm.
The amplifier will shut down for 15 seconds and then turn back on in the 1
ohm mode. To reset this feature, the power connections must be disconnected
for 30 seconds and then reconnected.

INPUT CONNECTIONS AND AUDIO CONTROLS
The front panel of the DPX1001.2 contains connections for RCA Inputs,
Speaker Level Inputs and Audio Controls as shown below.
The RCA Input Connections are gold-plated RCA jacks and are labeled as
RIGHT and LEFT.

• Remote Sub level Control - This port is for the supplied remote gain control
that allows adjustment from a remote location .
• Subsonic Filter - This switch will activate the Subsonic Filter Circuit which
eliminates unwanted frequencies from 24Hz and below.
• Gain Control - This allows you to set the nominal operating level of the
amplifier. The amplifier’s range, 250mV to 2.5V for RCA inputs or 500mV to
5V for speaker level inputs, which can accommodate input levels from
virtually any brand of source unit.
• Bass Boost Control- The amplifier also features a “high-Q” (i.e. narrow frequency band) Bass Boost circuit. It acts much like an equalizer, with
adjustable gain (from 0 to +15dB) fixed at 45Hz. Use this feature to tune lowfrequency audio response to compensate for a less than ideal subwoofer
enclosure design. The added boost produces rich, full bass tones that are
normally difficult to reproduce in the car audio environment. NOTE: If Bass
Boost is undesired, set Bass Boost to 0dB.
Low-pass Filter Controls
• Frequency (Hz) SelectionControl - The crossover frequency is fully
adjustable between 55Hz and 550Hz for a wide range of crossover points.

Owner’s Manual
Use this feature, along with your speaker manufacturer’s recommended
crossover frequencies, to quickly design a more advanced system.
• X-Over Slope Switch - This switch will change the X-Over between a 12db
and 24dB per octave slope. The steep crossover slope keeps midrange
tones out of the subwoofer and thereby eliminates an unnatural “nasal” tone
quality in the audio system.
• Output Mode Switch - This switch is to change the output between low-
pass or fullrange. If lowpass is selected, the lowpass filter controls will
control the crossover frequency.
• Input Mode Switch - This switch allows you to set the input mode. Stereo
input allows full left and right stereo operation. Right (bridged) input allows
single channel input for bridged operation. This is especially useful in highpowered systems when using one amplifier for each subwoofer/speaker.
L + R (sum mono) allows a stereo input to be summed into a mono output.
• Speaker Level Inputs - These provide connections for a high-level stereo
source. These connections are provided for installations where the source
unit’s RCA outputs are unavailable.
WARNING: When using the speaker (high-level) inputs, the Black wire must
be grounded at the radio. Failure to do this will result in noise and improper
operation.
