MANUAL PARKING BRAKE
BONNET
QUICK START GUIDE CITROËN C4
Applying
) Pull the parking brake lever fully up to immobilise your vehicle.
Releasing
) Pull the parking brake lever up gently, press the release button
then lower the lever fully.
DIESEL
A. Opening the fuel  ller  ap. Capacity of the fuel tank: approximately 60 litres.
MISFUEL PREVENTION
Mechanical device which prevents  lling the tank of a Diesel vehicle with petrol. It avoids the risk of engine damage that can result from lling with the wrong fuel.
Located in the  ller neck, the misfuel prevention device appears when the  ller cap is removed.
Opening
) Open the front left door. ) Pull the interior bonnet release lever A , located at the bottom
of the door frame.
) Push the exterior safety catch B to the left and raise the bonnet.
) Unclip the stay C from its housing. ) Fix the stay in the notch to hold the bonnet open.
Closing
) Take the stay out of the support notch. ) Clip the stay in its housing. ) Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel. ) Pull on the bonnet to check that it is secured correctly.

Manual application/release
Manual application of the parking brake is possible by pulling the control lever A .
With the ignition on, manual release of the parking brake is possible by pressing the brake pedal and pulling then
releasing the control lever A . Automatic application/release
Press the accelerator pedal and let the clutch pedal up (manual gearbox), the parking brake is released automatically and progressively as you move off.
With the vehicle at rest, on switching off the engine the parking brake is applied automatically.
If this warning lamp is on in the instrument panel, the automatic application/release is deactivated ; apply and release the parking brake manually.
Operation
When a petrol  ller nozzle is introduced into the fuel  ller neck of your Diesel vehicle, it comes into contact with the  ap. The system remains closed and prevents  lling.
Do not persist but introduce a Diesel type ller nozzle.

1. Opening the blind (four positions possible).
2. Closing the blind (initial position).

1. Unlocking the adjuster.

Before leaving the vehicle, check that the brake warning lamp in the instrument panel and the P warning lamp in the control lever A are on xed (not ashing) .

Engaging reverse gear
) Raise the ring under the knob and push the gear lever to the
left then forwards.
6-SPEED ELECTRONIC GEARBOX SYSTEM
R. Reverse N. Neutral. A. Automatic mode. M. Manual mode with sequential gear changing.
Moving off
) Select position N . ) Press the brake pedal down fully. ) Start the engine. ) Select  rst gear (position M or A ) or reverse (position R ). ) Release the parking brake unless it is programmed to automatic
mode.
) Take your foot off the brake pedal, then accelerate.
System which reduces fuel consumption by advising the driver to change up on vehicles  tted with a manual gearbox.
AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
P. Park. R. Reverse. N. Neutral. D. Automatic operation. M+/-. Manual operation with sequential changing of the six gears.
) With your foot on the brake, select position P or N . ) Start the engine. ) With the engine running, press the brake pedal. ) Release the parking brake, unless it is programmed to
automatic mode.
) Select position R , D or M. ) Gradually release the brake pedal.
STOP & START

The "ECO" warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel and the engine is put into standby:
- with a manual gearbox ; at speeds below 12 mph (20 km/h),
when you put the gear lever into neutral, and you release the clutch pedal,
- with the 6-speed electronic gearbox system; at speeds
below 5 mph (8 km/h), when you press the brake pedal or you put the gear lever into position N.
- with a manual gearbox; when you depress the clutch pedal,
- with the 6-speed electronic gearbox system;
The "ECO" warning lamp goes off and the engine restarts:
- gear lever in position A or M, when you release the brake
pedal,
- or gear lever in position N and the brake pedal released, when you put the lever into position A to M,
- or when you engage reverse.
A. Main lighting mode selection ring: turn it to position the symbol
required facing the mark.
Lamps off.
Automatic illumination of headlamps.
Sidelamps only.
Dipped headlamps or main beam headlamps.
B. Stalk for switching headlamps: pull to switch the lighting between
dipped headlamps/main beam headlamps.
C. Foglamp selection ring.

SPEED LIMITER
1. Limiter mode On/Off.
2. Decrease the programmed value.
3. Increase the programmed value.
4. Speed limiter On/Off.
5. Display the list of memorised speeds.
CRUISE CONTROL
1. Cruise control mode On/Off.
2. Programme a speed/Decrease the programmed value.
3. Programme a speed/Increase the programmed value.
4. Cruise control Off/Resume.
5. Display the list of memorised speeds.
Windscreen wiper
A. Wiping speed control stalk: raise or lower the stalk to the
desired position
Fast wiping (heavy rain).
Normal wiping (moderate rain).
Intermittent wiping (proportional to the speed of the vehicle).
Park,
Single wipe (press down or pull towards you, then release).

Automatic wiping (press down, then release). Single wipe (brie y pull the control stalk
towards you).
REAR WIPER
B. Rear wiper selection ring: turn the ring to place the desired
symbol against the marking.
Park,
Intermittent wipe,
Wash-wipe. Turn the ring to its stop/the rear screen wash, then the
rear wiper operate for a set duration
