1. Features

This watch is equipped with numerous functions including a minute repeater function (chime function) that informs you of the time with an electronic tone as well as the following functions:
1. perpetual calendar that automatically corrects the date, including leap years;
2. daily alarm that sounds the alarm at the set time every day;
3. local time that displays the time in a region or foreign country located in a different time zone; and,
4. local alarm that sounds an alarm tone at the set time every day based on the time in the region or foreign country set in the local time mode.
Moreover, this watch is also equipped with a photoelectric power generation function that drives the watch by containing a solar cell in its face that converts light energy into electrical energy.

[NOTE]
Switches are not activated even when buttons (A) and (B) are pressed when the sub watch hour hand and sub watch minute hand are moving in coordination. Try pressing the button again after checking that the hands have stopped moving.

· Check that each hand indicates the following positions. Date & mode hand: 0-SET Sub watch hour hand, sub watch minute hand: 12:00 position AM/PM hand: Top of the AM zone
(2) After having checked the reference position, press button (A), (B) or (C) to return the
watch to the time display. (In addition, the watch automatically returns to the time display after 20 seconds if none of the buttons are pressed.)
* If any hand does not indicate the reference position, set the reference position for each
hand by following the procedure described in "4. Setting the Reference Position" on the following page.

3. Before Using

Check the reference position of each hand by following the procedure described below before using the watch to ensure that each function operates properly.
Reference Position: This is the default position of each hand for ensuring
that the watch functions properly.
1. Checking the Reference Position
(1) Set the crown to the normal position.
· Press button (C) for about 3 seconds or more until the date & mode hand moves to the reference position confirmation mode (0-SET).

4. Setting the Reference Position

The functions of the watch will not operate properly if the reference position has shifted. If this happens, set the reference position by following the procedure described below.
1. Perform the all-reset procedure
(1) Pull the crown out to Position 2. (2) Press buttons (A), (B) and (C) simultaneously for 2 seconds or more. (3) The date & mode hand, sub watch hour hand and sub watch minute hand move back
and forth in that order when the
buttons are released. A confirmation tone sounds after the hands have finished moving.
· Next, proceed to setting the reference position.
If the crown is returned to the normal position or Position 1 after performing the all­reset procedure without setting the reference position, the "Reference Position Setting Warning" will be activated and the date & mode hand will move in the counter-clockwise direction to indicate that the reference position has not been set. Pull the crown out to Position 2 again and perform the procedure described in "Setting the Reference Position" above.
2. Set the reference position
(1) Press button (A) to align the sub watch
hour hand and sub watch minute hand at the 12:00 position.
[NOTE]
· Advance the sub watch hour hand and sub watch minute hand until the AM/PM hand points to the bottom of the PM zone. The AM/PM hand moves in coordination with the sub watch hour hand and sub watch minute hand.

(2) Press button (B) to align the date & mode hand at the "0-SET" position.
· Pressing button (A) or (B) continuously causes the hands to advance continuously.
(3) Always make sure to return the crown to the normal position.
· The AM/PM hand moves to the AM zone.
* After setting the reference position, always make sure to reset the time (main watch
time, sub watch time) and date.

5. Confirming the Time with the Electronic Tone (Minute Repeater)

· This convenient function informs you of the time (hours, minutes) with an electronic tone.
[Confirmation Procedure]
* The watch informs you of the current time
with an electronic tone when button (B) is pressed for about one second in the time mode.
· The crown must be at the normal position.
<Interpreting the Electronic Tone>
Hours: A high-pitch tone sounds for the
number of hours (since there is no distinction between AM and PM, check the position of the AM/PM hand to determine AM or PM).

Minutes: A combination high-pitch tone and low-pitch tone sounds for each 15 minute
period followed by a low-pitch tone sounding for the remaining number of minutes.
<Example>
Time on the sub watch is 4:48 (check the AM/PM hand to determine whether this time is AM or PM).
4 hours: A high-pitch tone sounds four times (1 hour

4 times). 45 minutes: A combination low-pitch and high-pitch tone sounds three times (15 minutes

3 times).
3 minutes: A low pitch tone sounds three times (1 minute

3 times).

6. Setting the Time and Date

1. Setting the Main Watch Time
Once the time on the main watch has been set, always make sure to align the time on the sub watch with the time on the main watch. The minute repeater and each of the alarm functions will not operate properly if the times on the main watch and sub watch are not aligned.
(1) Pull the crown out to Position 2 when the second hand reaches 0 seconds. (2) Turn the crown to the right to set the
hour and minute hands.

· Continue by aligning the time on the sub watch with the time on the main watch.

2. Setting the Sub Watch Time
(1) Press button (A) to align the time on the
sub watch with the time on the main watch.
· Continuously pressing button (A) causes the hands to move continuously.
· Check the position of the AM/PM hand to ensure that AM and PM are set correctly.
(2) When the crown is pushed in to the
normal position in synchronization with a telephone time signal or other time service, the main watch hour hand and main watch minute hand begin to move from the 0 seconds position.
· If the time on the sub watch is not set after setting the reference position and setting the time on the main watch, the time setting warning function will be activated and the date & mode hand will advance rapidly in the clockwise direction.
3. Setting the Date
(1) Pull the crown out to Position 1.
· The sub watch hour hand indicates the year (no. of years elapsed from most recent leap year), while the sub watch minute hand indicates the month.
· The date & mode hand indicates the date.
(2) Press button (A) to set the month and year
(no. of elapsed years from most recent leap year).
· The display advances by one month each time button (A) is pressed.
· The sub watch hour hand automatically returns to January of a leap year after having indicated December of the third year from the most recent leap year.
