3.SETUP
The SlimBANK™ TRI-18 has a n auto-r anging power supply and it can work with an
input voltage range of 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.
To determine the product’s power requirements (circuit breaker, p ower outl et, and
wiring), use the current value listed on t he label affixed to the product’s back panel, or
ref er to t he product’s specifications chart. The listed current rating indicates the
product’s average current draw under normal cond itions.
Always connect the product to a protected circuit (circuit breaker or fuse). Make
sure the product has an appropriate electrical ground to avoid the risk of
electrocution or fire.
Never connect the product to a rheostat (variable resistor) or dimmer circuit, even
if the rheostat or dimmer channel serves only as a 0 to 100% switch.
Replacement
Disconnect the product from power before replacing the fuse.
1. Disconnect the product from power.
2. Wedge the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the slot of the fuse holder.
3. Pry the fuse holder out of the housing.
4. Remove the blown fuse from the holder.
5. Replace with a fuse of the exa ct same type and rating.
6. Insert the fus e holder ba ck in place and reconnect power.
A spare fuse is not included; however, the safety cap has room for a spare.
Alw ays replace a blow n f use with another of the same typ e and ra tin g.

Before mounting the product, read and follow the safe ty recom menda tions indicated in
the Safety Notes.
Orientation
The SlimBANK™ TRI-18 may be mounted in any position; however, make sure
adequate ventilation is provided around the product.
•Before deciding o n a location, a lways mak e sur e ther e is easy access to the product
for maintenance and programming.
•Make sure that the st r ucture o r surf ace onto w hich you ar e m ount ing the product
can support the product’s weight (see the Technical Specifications
).
•When mounting the product overh ead, always us e a safety ca ble. Mount the
product securely to a rigging p oint , such as an elevated plat form or a tr uss.
•When rigging the product onto a truss, you should use a mounting clamp of
appropriate weight capacity. The br acket has a 13-mm holes, which are appropriate
for this purpose.
•When power linking multiple products, you must always consider the length of the
power linking cable and mount the products close enough for th e cable to reach.
•The bracket adjustment knobs allo w for di rectional adju stment wh en aiming t he
product to the desired angle. Only loosen or tighten the bracket knobs manually.
Using t ools could damage the knobs.
•The double-bracketed yoke also serves as floor supports. When mounting the
product on th e f loor , make sure tha t the product and cables are away from people
and vehicles.

Starting Add ress
Set the product in DMX mode t o control with a D M X cont rol ler.
1. Connect the product to a suitable po w er outlet .
2. Connect a DMX cabl e from the DMX output of the DMX cont roll er to the DMX input
socket on the product.
When selecting a starting DMX address, always consider the number of DMX channels
the selected DMX mo de uses. If you choose a starting address that is too high, you could
restrict the access to some of the product’s channels.
The SlimBANK™ TRI-18 uses up to 13 DMX ch annel s in its 13-channel DMX personality,
which defines the highest configurable address to 500.

To select the DMX personality and start i ng address, do the foll owing:
1. Press <MENU> repeatedly unt i l 3-CH (3-channel mode), 5-CH (5-channel mode),
9-CH (9-channel mode ), or 13CH (13-channel mode) shows on the display.
2. Press <ENTER> and d 1—d512 shows on the display.
3. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to sel ect t he st arting addres s.

(Standalone)
Sound-Active
Set the product in one of the standalone modes to control without a DMX controller.
•Connect the product to a suit able power out let.
Nev er co nnect a product that is operating in any standalone mode (Static, Auto, or
Sound-Active) to a DMX string connected to a DMX controller. Products in standal one
mode may transmit DMX signals that could interfere with the DMX signals fr om the
controller.
To enable the Sound-Active mode, do the following:

Sound Sensitivity
To set the sound sensitivity, follow the instructions below:
1. Press <MENU> repeatedly unt i l SenS shows on the display.
2. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to select the desired sound sensitivity (u 0–u100).
3. Press <ENTER>.
The product will only respond to low frequencies of music (bass and drums).
Auto Program
To select an auto program, do the following:
1. Press <MENU> repeatedly unt i l P-- shows on the display.
2. Press <ENTER> and P 1–P 14 shows on the display.
3. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to sel ect t he desir ed aut o prog ram.
4. Press <ENTER>.
Program Speed
To set the auto program speed, follow the instructions below:
1. Press <MENU> repeatedly unt i l S-- shows on the display.
2. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to select the desir ed aut o prog ram speed
S 1–S100 (slow to fast).

3. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to sel ect t he desir ed pres et color.
4. Press <ENTER>.
To custom mix a color, follow the instructions below:
1. Press <MENU> repeatedly unt i l U-- shows on the display.
2. Press <ENTER> and one of the following colors shows on the display: rXXX (red),
gXXX (green), or bXXX (blue).
3. Press <ENTER> repeat edly to select the d esired c olor.
4. Use <UP> or <DOWN> to sel ect t he desir ed color va lue 0–255 (0 to 100%).
NOTE: Selecting 0 will turn the c olor of f.
5. Press <ENTER> to set the color value and continue to the next color.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 until you create your desired color.
To select the dimmer mode, do the following:

Master/Slave
The Master/Slave mode allo w s a s ingle SlimB ANK™ TRI-18 unit (the “master”) to

control the actions of one or more Slim BANK™ TRI-18 units (the “slaves”) without the
need of a D M X c ontroll er. The mas ter unit will be set to op erate in ei ther an auto
program or So und-Ac t ive m ode, while the slav e unit s will be set to operate in Slave
mode. Once set and connected, the slave uni ts will op erate in unison with th e m aster
unit.
Configure the units as indicated below.
Slave un its:
1. Set th e DMX address to d001.
2. Connect the DMX input of the first slave unit to the DMX output of the master unit.
3. Connect the DMX input of the subsequent slave units to the DMX output of the
previous slave uni t.
4. Finish setting and connecting all the slave units.
Master unit:
1. Set th e m aster unit to opera te i n either a n auto program or Sound-Active mode.
2. Make the master unit the first unit in the DMX daisy chain.
• Configure all the slave units before connecting the master unit to the DMX daisy
chain.
• Never connect a DMX controller to a DMX string configured for Master/Slave
operation because the controll er may interfere with the signals from the m aster unit.
• Do not connect more than 31 slave units to the master unit .

5.TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Dust build-up reduces li ght output performance and can cause overheati ng. This can

performance and minimi ze wear, clean the product at least twice a month. However,
usage and envi r onm ental conditions contribut e to increas ed cleaning frequency.
To clean the product, follow the instructions be low:
• Unplug the product from po w er.
• Wait until the product is at room temperature.
• Use a vacuum (or dry compressed air) and a sof t brush to remov e dust collected on
the external surface and vents.
• Clean all external optics and glass/transparent surface s wi th a mild soap solution,
ammonia-free glass cleaner, or isopropyl alcohol.
• Apply the soluti on directly t o a soft, lint-free cot ton cloth or a lens cleaning t i ssu e.
• Softly wipe any dirt or grime to the outside edges of the external optics or
glass/transparent surface.
• Gently poli sh the external optics and glass/transparent surfaces until they are free of
haze and lint.
Always dry the external optics and glass/transparent surfaces c arefull y after cl eani ng
them.

and accessories. CHAUVET® will not issue call tags.
Clearly label the package with the RMA number. CHAUVET® will refuse any product
returned without an RMA number.
Write the RMA numb er on a properly affixed l abel. DO NOT write the RMA numb er
directly on the box.
