It is important that this manual be kept in a safe place where any operator of the Challenger Drum Lifter can refer to it and understand the operating principles of this device. All users of this Challenger Drum Lifter should read this manual in full and understand the safe operating principles of the device.

GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
The operator shoud read the instructions before using this drum lifter to avoid any injuries
The drum lifter should only be operated by persons who are competent or authorised to do so
Always use the drum lifter on a firm and flat floor.
Do not overload the drum lifter
Only transport the drum lifter when the clamp is securely attached
Only transport the drum in the lowest possible position
Pay attention to and ensure all loads are secured correctly
If the load moves when the drum lifter is in use, brake immediately
Ensure correct maintence of the drum lifter according to service instructions
Do not modify or repair the drum lifter without first consulting the distributor
This drum lifter is not designed to be weather resistant. When not in use store in dry conditions
GUIDE TO SAFE OPERATION
Position the drum lifter frame (5) and mast (3) against the drum
Apply the drum lifter locking brake (6) to prevent the drum lifter from moving
Turn the release lever (2) clock wise to close the release valve
Pump the operation handle repeatedley until the lower lip of the mast (3) contacts the drum lip
Apply pressure to the drum clamp (1) handle by pulling back towards yourself and continue
pumping the operation handle (4)
To move the drum lifter, disengage the locking brake (6) and push or haul using the operation
handle (4)
To lower the drum slowly, turn the release lever (2) counter clockwise until the drum is
completely lowered
Push the drum clamp handle (1) forward to release the clamp

MAINTENANCE
REGULAR INSPECTION OF YOUR CHALLENGER DRUM LIFTER WILL HAVE A TWOFOLD RESULT BY ENSURING THE UNIT IS SUITABLE FOR SAFE OPERATION AND WILL ASSIST WITH EXTENDING THE OPERATING LIFE OF THE UNIT. THE FOLLOWING INSPECTION SHOULD BE PERFORMED BOTH PRIOR TO, AND AFTER, EVERY USE:
Check the packaging
Check the frame (5) and front wheels. Ensure that the rear caster is firm
It is feasible and reasonable to change hydraulic oil while change packing. It is suggested to
use equivalent performance hydraulic oil
Use different hydraulic oils according to the temperature scale below
Check and maintain the drum lifter, make sure the drum is always fully engaged
Check all of the connecting parts e.g. pins and fasteners
Temperature Hydraulic Oil
-5C to +45C L-HM68 Hydraulic Oil
(equivalent to ISO VG68)
-15C to -5C L-HM46 Hydraulic Oil
(equivalent to ISO VG46)
