Duplex and simplex printing
The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra Line is a single-pass duplex printer, based on Océ’s unique Gemini technology. This ensures unsurpassed performance for duplex prints, such as very accurate front-to-back registration, and provides a very reliable paper transport, as sheets do not need to be turned.
Because of this inherent duplex printing concept, Océ recommends that the Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra Line is predominantly used for duplex print work.
Working environment
The minimal recommended working environment is 75 m3, with a refresh rate of two times per hour.

Do not use paper that is dusty or bears any trace of grease or dirt.
If you use reams of paper it is recommended to remove the rst and the last sheet from the
ream of paper, because coating residue from the wrapping could be on these sheets.
Do not use paper that is contaminated with glue residue (e.g. from the wrapper).
Always wave some air into the paper stack, especially with preprinted materials.
Make sure that all paper edges are cut cleanly and evenly.
When in doubt, contact your Océ representative.

Media specifications
The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra Line is equipped with a sophisticated print-engine to achieve outstanding high print quality and productivity. The print process has been designed to meet such quality consistently during a very long life of the machines’ supplies. Paper however may become a limiting factor in achieving the desired performance, particularly when it is deformed or when it contains high quantities of polluting constituents.
Paper must contain only minimal quantities of materials that may pollute the cold and/or hot machine parts. These materials are disperse chemicals, by-products or contaminants, whether homogeneously divided or spot-wise. Especially avoid contamination at or near the sheet’s surface. Examples of migratory substances are:
talc, waxes, glue (required melting point > 120 ºC), sticky resins,
and paper dust. ASA and rosin/alum bulk sizing are suitable without restrictions. In case AKD is used as the bulk sizing, Océ recommends
Specifications for paper
Océ advises to choose a paper specially intended for digital printers, that matches your requirements for whiteness, thickness, smoothness, opacity, etc. To ensure good runability and long-term behaviour, general specifications as mentioned in the European
that the paper contains only minimal quantities of these waxy byproducts. Preferred AKD types are liquid or low melting. Crystalline (stearyl-based) AKD is not recommended. Application of AKD in the surface sizing is not allowed.
When in doubt, contact your local Océ representative.
Standard EN 12281: November 2002 are applicable. Although
this standard is originally intended for cut sheet papers, its general principles are also valid for roll papers.
Packaging
Paper must be packed in moisture-protecting packaging. Packaging materials, such as a protective paper wrapper coating, plastic foil or low melting adhesives, should not contaminate the paper.

Please note that stiffness, grain direction and coatings are limiting factors
In case of run ability problems please verify the grain direction (lower grammages grain direction in transport direction and higher grammages grain direction in cross direction)
Océ CopyPress technology shows extremely good image quality results on specific graphic arts papers (very rough surface)
Too low / high humidity content can influence the run ability or print quality
Height difference in input trays Use lower stacks to prevent problems in event of very great height differences
Rotary cut preferred No edge damage
Prevent damage to tab Always use straight collated tabs
