Detail:
<Symptom> When a copy/print is made on A3 paper, color displacement of magenta occurs along the leading edge of the image. In particular, points around 120 mm of the trailing edge show conspicuous color displacement of black.
<Cause> If the engagement of the coupling of the ITB coupling gear shaft (FL2-0541) and the intermediate transfer belt becomes faulty, the drive roller of the belt is likely to start rotating too early, thus causing color displacement of magenta along the leading edge. When the transfer cleaning blade comes into contact with the transfer belt, the force temporarily stops the rotation of the transfer belt, thereby causing a delay in black deposit, ultimately causing displacement of black near 120 mm of the trailing edge of the image. <Factory Measures>
1. Add a means of braking to the transfer roller 2 (FC5-1661) of the intermediate transfer belt assembly to prevent the ITB drive roller from rotating too early.

2. Change the shape of the ITB coupling gear shaft for the drum ITB drive assembly to prevent faulty engagement.
Service Work:
If the foregoing symptom occurs, add the remedial brake to the transfer roller 2 (FC-1661) of the intermediate transfer belt assembly as follows to prevent the ITB drive roller from rotating too early.
Adding the Remedial Brake:
1. Detach the transfer belt from the intermediate transfer belt assembly by referring to 7.11.28 "Removing the Intermediate Transfer Belt" of the Service Manual.
2. Remove the E-ring [1], and detach the transfer roller 2 [2] from the bushing.

3. Fit the brake [1] to the shaft of the transfer roller 2.
