Having spent the best part of three decades perfecting two channel amplifier performance,

Cambridge Audio has now turned its attention to the multi-channel market with the 540R 6.1 multi-

channel home cinema receiver, part of the British marque’s dazzling new flagship Azur range.

The company’s first completely new series of products for nearly five years, the sparkling Azur

line-up has been designed from the ground up and builds on years of painstaking audiophile

research and development, as well as a hard won reputation for consistently engineering quality

components at great prices.

The impressive 540R home cinema receiver which utilises state-of-the-art technologies housed in

stylish Azur casework, which takes in a thick aluminium front panel and a specially designed low

resonance, acoustically damped chassis.

The Azur 540R home cinema receiver makes use of some of the very latest processing

technologies from respected manufacturer Crystal, with an ability to decode 6.1 soundtracks,

which include an extra centre rear channel for even more realistic surround sound performance.

Digital Surround 6.1 EX and DTS ES 6.1, but the receiver also processes Dolby Digital and DTS

5.1, as well as Dolby Pro-Logic and the new Pro-Logic II.

Equally impressive is the design’s powerful 80W delivery across each of its six channels (or 100W

in 5.1 mode), while there is a full array of connections. These take in component, S-Video and

composite, as well as all the necessary electrical and optical digital inputs and outputs. Moreover,

you’ll find a full 6.1 preamp output and direct input, plus six line level inputs with a tape loop.

Completing the package are a FM/MW tuner with 40 presets and RDS functionality, along with a

elegant slim-line remote offering full control, including source selection and volume control.
