Authorized use
2. AUTHORIZED USE
WARNING!
The device may only be used for the applications indicated in the chapter Operating conditions for the devices, and only in connection with third-party devices or components recommended or approved by Bürkert. Observe the instructions in this operating manual, as well as the conditions of use and permissible data specified in the chapter “5.1. Operating conditions of the devices”.
The proper and safe function of the system depends on proper transport, storage and installation, and on careful operation and maintenance.
• The device serves exclusively as a piezoelectric actuator for the media stated in the data sheet and for use in Explosion Group II, Category 2 G and Temperature Class T6 (see data on the
approval plate).
• The type of protection used is inherent safety EEx i. Connection is made by rectangular connectors, circular connectors or via 2 impressed wires.
• The device must be installed in a housing with a protection type of at least IP 20 to EN 60529.
• The device may be used in a potentially explosive atmosphere only in the manner approved by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, i.e. the values specified in the approval or the electrical wiring must be observed.
• Any other use or use exceeding the specific scope is considered to be non-intended use. Bürkert will not be liable for any damage resulting therefrom. The risk will be borne by the user.
2.1. Limitations
If exporting the system/device, observe any existing restrictions.
EX approval
The EX approval is only valid if the modules and components authorized by Bürkert are used as described in these operating instructions.
Type 6106 may be used only in combination with the additional components released by Bürkert, otherwise the EX approval will be voided!
If any unauthorized changes are made to the device, modules or components, the EX approval will also be voided.
2.2. Licences
The EC type-examination certificate PTB 01 ATEX 2194 X was issued by the

• Before starting work, be sure to switch off the supply voltage and secure it to prevent restarting!
• Observe all applicable accident prevention and safety regulations for electrical equipment!
Danger of explosion caused by electrostatic charge!
If there is a sudden discharge from electrostatically charged devices or persons, there is a danger of explosion in the EX area.
• Using suitable measures, ensure that no electrostatic charges can occur in the EX area.
• Clean the device surface by gently wiping it with a damp or antistatic cloth only.
WARNING!
General Hazardous Situations.
• Do not supply the medium connectors of the system with aggressive or flammable mediums.
• Do not supply the medium connectors with any liquids.
• Do not put any loads on the housing (e.g. by placing objects on it or standing on it).
• Do not make any external modifications to the device housings. Do not paint the housing parts or screws.
To prevent injuries:
• Ensure that the system cannot be activated unintentionally.
• Installation and maintenance work may be carried out only by authorized technicians with the appropriate tools.
• After an interruption in the power supply or pneumatic supply, ensure that the process is restarted in a defined or controlled manner.
• The device may be operated only when in perfect condition and in consideration of the operating instructions.
• The general rules of technology must be observed for application planning and operation of the device.
Failure to observe this operating manual and its operating instructions as well as unauthorized tampering with the device release us from any liability and also invalidate the warranty covering the devices and accessories!

5. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
5.1. Operating conditions of the devices
1. Individual assembly / Block assembly The piezoelectric actuator Type 6115 is suitable for individual and
block assembly (see „Electrical data“).
2. Ambient temperature range The devices are suitable for an ambient temperature range of
-25 °C ... +65 °C (temperature class T6).
The piezoelectric actuator must be installed in a housing with a protection class of at least IP 20 according to EN 60529.
The ambient temperature range of the piezoelectric actuator must not drop below -25 °C or exceed +65 °C both for individual and block assembly.
The piezoelectric actuator may be used for switching non-combustible media only.
The piezoelectric actuator shall only be operated in a built-in state, or if otherwise can be guaranteed that explosive atmosphere will penetrate into the interior valve only infrequently or for a short period.
The piezoelectric actuator may be connected to certified intrinsically safe circuits only.
The supply must not exceed the specified limit values.
