SOFFIT CHIMNEY
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: THIS ILLUSTRATION SHOWS A CEILING INSTALLATION.
SOFFIT CHIMNEY CAN BE MOUNTED TO A WALL USING KEYHOLES IN BACK

This Soffit Chimney takes the place of a soffit in vertically ducted
or horizontally ducted installations.
1. Inspect the installation location.
Make sure the following items have been accomplished according to the instructions packed with the hood:
þ The ceiling or wall has been properly framed and wall ma-
terial finished.
þ The rough-in plate has been installed (including ductwork
& electrical wiring).
þ The blower is securely attached to rough-in plate.
þ The four (4) inner mounting screws are driven partially into
framing.
2. Secure soffit chimney to ceiling or wall.
Lift soffit chimney into position and hang it from the four (4)
inner mounting screws. Make sure screws are engaged in small
end of keyholes and soffit chimney is against the wall. Tighten
screws securely.
Drive four (4) additional mounting screws (packed with hood)
through the small end of outer keyholes, through the ceiling or
wall material, and into the framing.
NOTE
BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT OF THE HOOD - MAKE SURE
THAT THE OUTER MOUNTING SCREWS ARE DRIVEN
INTO THE SOFFIT FRAMING AND NOT JUST THE WALL
MATERIAL.
CAUTION
MAKE SURE THE HOOD MOUNTING SCREWS ARE ENGAGED HALFWAY INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE SOFFIT
CHIMNEY BEFORE LIFTING THE HOOD INTO POSITION.
3. Attach hood to soffit chimney.
Lift hood into position and hang it from the eight (8) mounting
screws in the bottom of the soffit chimney. Make sure screws
are engaged in small end of keyholes and hood is against the
wall. Tighten screws securely.
4. Refer to hood instructions.
Follow the steps in the hood instruction maual to finish the installation.
Begin with Step 3. under the “INST ALL HOOD” section on Page 9.
