NOTE: Brooder heaters are equipped with safety legs and must be removed from shipping position and reconnected so they project below the bottom of the heater.
IMPORTANT: “Quartz-Ray” heaters must be installed so that the length of the quartz tube runs horizontally (see diagram below). Off horizontal installations can cause the element to sag and short out. DO NOT install in a vertical position.

QUARTZ TUBE INSTALLATION
Tubes are shipped separately and must be installed after installation of heating units. The following steps will facilitate installation:
1. DO NOT remove element from cardboard tubing by pulling on ceramic end cap.
2. DO NOT remove protective plastic from tube until installed. Tube covering is necessary to avoid finger marks.
3. Upon removal of the end reflectors and guard, the tube clamps and wiring terminals are exposed.
4. Press tube into position and attach wire terminals by removing nut and washer, slip on wire terminal, washer and nut, then tighten nut by holding ceramic end cap firmly.
5. DO NOT attempt to tighten nut unduly firm.
6. Remove plastic covering from tube - replace guard and end reflectors.
