The ZigBee® wireless multi-sensor is a surface-mount
wireless selectable function detector. By default, the
detector is a Door Window Detector for monitoring
door or window open or closed position. The detector
can also be configured as a Water Detector or Tilt
Detector. The Low Temperature Alarm Function, which
detects when the temperature is less than 40°F (5°C),
is an option available when the detector is configured
as a Water Detector. The detector also monitors
temperature, and includes tamper detection. The
ZigBee® compatible radio allows connection to a
security or home automation system.
Functions
Configurable detector type
The multi-sensor is initially configured to operate as a
Door Window Detector, but is configurable to operate
as either a Water Detector or a Tilt Detector.
Magnetic gap width and Hall effect sensor
Through use of an advanced technology Hall effect
sensor, the Door Window Detector achieves a best in
class break distance width of greater than or equal to
1.3 inch (33 mm). This provides exceptional
installation flexibility and improved false alarm
immunity relative to competitive models that utilize
older reed switch based sensors. This also ensures

reliability of installation in difficult environments, such
as doors and windows that experience misalignment
as environmental conditions change.
LED indicator for magnet positioning
During a door or window installation, the integrated
LED flash rate indicates the strength of the magnetic
field. The LED turns off at the optimal placement of
the magnet to the detector allowing the installer to
have confidence that the detector and magnet are
properly aligned.
LED radio link quality indicator
During the enrollment process, an LED indicator
allows the installer to verify proper RF signal strength.
The color of the LED indicates the radio link quality
(RSSI, LQI). If the LED is green, the signal strength is
acceptable. If the LED is red, the signal strength is not
acceptable indicating to the installer to relocate the
magnet and detector.
Exceptional battery life
This detector utilizes a single CR2 lithium battery to
achieve better than 5 years battery life under normal
operating conditions.
High power radio
The detector incorporates a radio power amplifier that
ensures exceptional range as well as high reliability of
communications with the security and home

automation systems that it may be enrolled in. This
provides significantly better performance than coin
cell battery operated devices that cannot utilize a
power amplifier due to current draw and battery life
trade-offs. The Total Radiated Power (TRP) is
approximately 15dBm, which is 12 to 13 dBm
higher radio power than typical coin cell operated
devices.
Flexible magnet mounting configuration
The detector includes a standard magnetic mounting
base as well as a 90 degree mounting base for
exceptional door/window installation flexibility. Two
exceptionally strong rare earth magnets are included
in each magnetic housing and are removable for use
on doors or windows where there is minimal space.
This also allows for more discrete mounting of the
magnet.
Water detection
The detector includes a water probe which detects the
presence of water on a floor or surface.
Low temperature alarm
The Low Temperature Alarm function is an optional
feature available when the detector is configured as a
Water Detector. This feature detects when the indoor
air temperature drops below 40°F (5°C).
Tilt detection
The detector includes technology that senses when a
moveable surface is tilted 45° from a vertical to a
horizontal position.
ZigBee technology
This motion detector utilizes ZigBee technology, a
global wireless standard for communicating to both
smart devices and security systems in a home
automation environment. This ZigBee Certified
product works in global 2.4 GHz networks supporting
ZigBee HA1.2.
