Road safety
Road safety has priority . Only operate your radio unit if the road and
traffic conditions allow you to do so.
Familiarize yourself with the unit before setting off on your journey.
You should always be able to hear
police, fire and ambulance sirens
from afar. For this reason, set the
volume of whatever you are listening to to a reasonable lev el.
Installation
If you want to install your car radio y ourself, please read the installation and
connection instructions that follow these
operating instructions.
Accessories
Only use accessories approved by Blaupunkt.
Remote control
The optional RC08 or RC10 remote
controls allow you to safely and con v eniently access the most important functions of your car radio from your steering wheel.
Amplifier
All Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used.
CD changer
Y ou can connect the follo wing Blaupunkt
CD changers:
CDC A 06, CDC A 08, CDC A 072 and
IDC A 09.
Y ou can also connect the CDC A 05 and
CDC A 071 CD changers by using a
special adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.:
7 607 889 093).
Subwoofer
You have the option of connecting an
active subwoofer to y our unit.
Y ou can connect the subw oofer using a
Blaupunkt cable (Blaupunkt no.: 7 607
609 093), which is available from stores
selling audio accessories.

installation instructions at the back of
this booklet.

REMOVABLE CONTROL PANEL
Removable control panel
Theft protection
As a way of protecting your car radio
against theft, the unit is equipped with
a removable control panel (flip-release
panel). Without this control panel, the
car radio is worthless to a thief.
Protect your car radio against theft by
taking the control panel with you every
time you leave y our vehicle. Do not leave
the control panel in your vehicle - not
even in a hiding place. The flip-release
panel has been designed to be easy to
use.
Note:
● Never drop the control panel.
● Never e xpose the control panel to
direct sunlight or other heat sources.
● Store the control panel in the sup-
plied case.
● Avoid making direct skin contact
with the control panel’s contacts . If
necessary, clean the contacts with
a lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.
Removing the control panel
➮ Press the button 1.

➮ First, pull the control panel straight
off the unit and then out towards
the left.
● The unit switches off after the con-
trol panel is removed.
● All the current settings are saved.
● Any CD already inserted in the unit
remains there.
Attaching the control panel
➮ Slide the control panel from left to
right into the unit’s panel locking
mechanism.
➮ Press the left-hand edge of the
control panel into the unit until it
clicks into place.
Note:
When attaching the control panel, make
sure you do not press the display.
If the unit was still switched on when
you removed the control panel, the unit
will automatically switch on with the last
settings activated (i.e. radio, CD, CD
changer, or A UX) when the panel is replaced.

SWITCHING ON/OFF
Switching on/off
There are various ways of s witching the
unit on/off:
Switching on/off using the vehicle
ignition
If the unit is correctly connected to the
vehicle’s ignition and it was not switched
off using button 3, it will switch on/off
simultaneously with the ignition.
You can also switch the unit on even if
the ignition is off:
➮ To do so , press button 3.
Note:
To protect the vehicle battery, the unit
will switch off automatically after one
hour if the ignition is off.
Switching on/off using the
removable control panel
➮ Remove the control panel.
The unit switches off.
➮ Attach the control panel again.
The unit switches on. The settings (radio, CD , CD changer or A UX) that w ere
set before the unit was s witched off will
be reactivated.
Switching on/off using button 3
➮ To switch the unit on, press button
3.
➮ To switch the unit off, press button
3 for longer than two seconds .
The unit switches off.
Switching on by inserting a CD
If the unit is switched off and the CD
drive does not contain a CD ,
➮ Press the b utton 9.
The flip-release panel opens.
➮ Gently insert the CD with the print-
ed side uppermost into the CD
compartment until you feel some
resistance.
The CD will be drawn automatically into
the drive.
You must not hinder or assist the drive
as it draws the CD in.
➮ Gently close the control panel
whilst exerting a little pressure until
you feel it clic k into place.
The unit switches on. CD playback begins immediately.

VOLUME ADJUSTMENT
Volume adjustment
The volume can be adjusted in steps
from 0 (off) to 66 (maximum).
➮ To increase the volume , turn the
volume control 2 to the right.
➮ To decrease the volume , turn the
volume control 2 to the left.
Setting the power-on volume
You can set the volume that the unit will
play at when it is switched on.
➮ Press the MENU button 8.
➮ Keep pressing the button : un-
til “ON V OLUME” appears in the
display.
➮ Set the power-on volume using

If you set the power-on volume to “0”:
every time you turn the unit on, the power-on volume will be the same as the
volume lev el that was set before the unit
was last switched off .
Risk of serious injury! If the power-on volume is set to maximum, the
volume lev el can be v ery high when
the unit is switched on.
If the volume was set to maximum
before the unit was s witched off and
the power-on volume is set to “0”, the
volume lev el can be v ery high when
the unit is switched on again. This can
cause hearing damage.

Mute - instantaneous volume
reduction
This feature allows you to instantaneously reduce (mute) the volume to a
level preset by y ou.
➮ Briefly press button 3.
“MUTE” appears in the display.
Setting the mute level
You can set the unit’s mute level.

til “MUTE LEVEL” appears in the

Telephone audio / navigation

If your car radio is connected to a mobile telephone or a navigation system,
the unit’s v olume will be muted as soon
as you “pick up” the telephone or as
soon as a navigation announcement is
made. The caller or voice output will then
be heard over the car radio loudspeakers. In order f or this to work, the mobile
telephone or navigation system must be
connected to the car radio in the manner described in the installation instructions.
Y our Blaupunkt dealer will be able to tell
you which navigation systems can be
used with your car radio.

Automatic sound
This feature automatically adjusts the
volume of the car radio to suit the speed
at which the vehicle is travelling. In order for this to work, your car radio must
be connected in the manner described
in the installation instructions.
The automatic sound level can be adjusted in six steps (0 to 5).

confirmation beep
For some functions, you will hear a confirmation beep if you keep a button
pressed for longer than two seconds,
e.g. after storing a radio station to a station button you will hear a confirmation
beep. You can set the volume of this
beep.

RDS function
This unit is equipped with an RDS radio
receiver . Many of the receiv able FM stations transmit a signal that not only carries the program but also additional information such as the station name. The
station name appears in the display as
soon as it is received. You can switch
the RDS function on/off.
Switching the RDS function on/off
➮ To use the RDS function, press the
RDS button 4.
The RDS function is active when “RDS”
lights up in the display with a symbol.
Selecting the frequency range /
memory
This unit can receive programs broadcast over the FM and AM frequency
ranges. There are three preset memory
levels f or the FM r ange and one f or the
AM range.
Six stations can be stored on each
memory level.
➮ Briefly press the FM/TS button 5
to switch between the FM memory
levels.
➮ Press the AM button ? to select
the AM frequency range.
Tuning into a station
There are various methods available f or
tuning into a station.
Automatic station search mode

Y ou can only tune into stations man ually if the RDS function is deactivated.
Browsing through broadcasting
networks (only FM)
If a radio station provides several programs, you hav e the option of browsing
through its so-called “broadcasting network”.

If you want to use this feature , the RDS
function must be activated.
You will then only be able to switch to
stations that you have received once

Storing stations manually

Storing stations automatically
(Travelstore)
You can automatically store the six stations with the strongest reception in the
region (only FM). The stations are stored
in the FMT memory.
Note:
Stations that were previously stored in
this memory are deleted in the process.
➮ Keep the FM / TS b utton 5
pressed for longer than two seconds.
The automatic station storing procedure
begins. “TRAVEL-ST ORE” appears in
the display. After the process is completed, the station stored in FMT memory location 1 will be played.
Listening to preset stations
➮ Select the memory or the frequen-
cy range.
➮ Press the preset station button 1 -
6 > of the station you want to lis-
ten to.
Scanning receivable stations
(SCAN)
You can br iefly play all the receivable
stations. Y ou can set the scanning time
to between 5 and 30 seconds in the
menu.
Starting SCAN
➮ Keep the OK button ; pressed f or
longer than two seconds.
Scanning begins. “SCAN” briefly ap-
pears in the display follo wed by a flashing display of the current station name
or frequency.

Treble reduction feature during
interference (HICUT)
The HICUT function improves reception
during poor radio reception (only FM).
If interference occurs, the treble is automatically reduced thus reducing the
interference le v el.
Switching HICUT on/off

til “HICUT” appears in the display.
➮ Press the or button : to set
HICUT.
“HICUT 0” means no reduction will be
made. “HICUT 3” means a maximum
automatic reduction of the treble level
and interference lev el.

Switching bandwidth during
interference (SHARX)
The SHARX function allows you to
largely avoid interference caused by
neighboring radio stations (FM only).
Switch on the SHARX function if you
experience a high radio station density .
Switching SHARX on/off

til “SHARX” appears in the display.

switch SHARX on/off.
“SHARX OFF” means no automatic
bandwidth switching will be carried out.

Displaying scrolling text
Some radio stations use the RDS signal to transmit advertising or other information instead of their station name.
These scrolling texts appear in the display. You can deactivate the feature for
displaying scrolling texts.

This unit is equipped with a multiband
tuner. This means that the tuner can be
configured to suit requirements that are
specific to various countries. The countries/regions available are: USA, Europe, Asia and Thailand. The tuner will
only function optimally if it is configured
for the country/region in which the unit
is being operated.

You can use this unit to play standard
CDs with a diameter of 5 inches.
Risk of damage to CD drive!
CD singles with a diameter of 3 inches and contoured CDs (shape CDs)
are not suitable for playback in this
unit.
We accept no liability for any damage to the CD drive that may occur
as a result of the use of unsuitable
CDs.

Naming CDs
The car radio allows you to assign
names for up to 30 CDs so that you can
recognize them more easily . The names
can be a maximum of eight characters
long.
If you try assigning more than 30 names,
“FULL” will appear in the display.
Entering / editing CD names
➮ Listen to the CD you wish to name.
➮ Press the MENU button 8.
➮ Press the or button : until
“CD NAME” appears .
➮ Press the or button : twice.
You will now enter editing mode. If your
CD does not have a name yet, eight
underscores will appear in the display.
➮ The currently active input position
flashes.

lect the character you want. If you
want an empty space, simply select

Note:
In the case of the CDC A 08 and the
IDC A 09, all the CDs in the changer
are selected randomly. In the case of
other changers, all the tracks on one CD

The time can be set automatically using the RDS signal. How ever , if you cannot receive any RDS stations or the
RDS stations that you listen to do not
support this feature, you can also set
the time manually.

EQUALIZER
Switching loudness on/off
If loudness is activated, the bass and
treble levels are aurally compensated,
i.e. they are increased at lower v olume
levels .
➮ Press the AUD / LD b utton = for
approximately two seconds.
LD lights up in the display when loudness is switched on.
Setting the loudness intensity
The loudness level can be set in steps
ranging from 1 to 6.
➮ Press the MENU button 8.
“MENU” appears in the display.
➮ Keep pressing the button : un-
til “LOUDNESS” appears in the dis-
play.

Equalizer
This unit is equipped with a parametric
digital equalizer. In this case, parametric means that one frequency can be
increased or decreased (GAIN +8 to
-8) individually for each of the five filters.
The following filters are av ailable:
● SUB LOW EQ32 - 50 Hz
● LOW EQ63 - 250 Hz
● MID EQ315 - 1,250 Hz
● MID/HIGH EQ1,600 - 6,300 Hz
● HIGH EQ8,000 - 12,500 Hz
These filters can be set without the need
for measuring equipment. They will allow you to significantly influence the
sound characteristics in your vehicle.
Notes on adjusting the settings
We recommend you use a CD that you
are familiar with for making changes to
the settings.
Before adjusting the equalizer, set the
audio and volume distribution settings
to zero and deactivate loudness. For
further details, refer to the chapter entitled “A udio and v olume distribution settings”.
➮ Listen to the CD.
➮ Analyze the sound impression.
➮ Now read the “Sound impression”
section in the table entitled “Help
adjusting the equalizer”.
➮ Set the equalizer values as de-
scribed in the “Measures” section.

Setting the spectrometer
The spectrometer (level displa y) briefly
provides a symbolic display of the volume, the audio adjustment settings and
the equalizer settings whilst you are
making your changes.
When you are not changing any settings, the spectrometer displays the car
radio’s output level.
Y ou can also set the type of spectrometer in the menu.
There are two types availab le.
Setting the spectrometer type

In addition to the CD changer , y ou can
also attach other external audio sources that have a line output, f or instance ,
portable CD players, MiniDisc players
or MP3 players .
If no CD changer is connected, you can
connect two external audio sources.
The AUX input must be activ ated in the
menu.
If you want to connect an external audio source, you will need an adapter
cable. You can obtain this adapter cable
from your authorized Blaupunkt dealer.
Switching the AUX input on/off
