Bacharach NOx Operating Manual

NOx Filter Installation
Instruction 0024-9469
March 29, 2016

1. Overview

These instructions describe how to install the NOx Filter into the probe and hose assembly of various Bacharach combustion gas analyzers. The NOx filter removes cross-interfering acid gases, including NO, NO
and SO2, that

could affect the CO measurement.

3. Procedure

Use the following procedure and Figures 1, 2, and 3 to insert the NOx Filter in-line with the sampling system.
Step Description
1. Locate Locate the gas sample hose. Refer to Figure 1 for examples, or check the documentation associated with your gas monitoring instrument.
2. Separate If the gas sample hose is connected to an additional parallel hose (e.g., draft hose or T-Stack hose), separate a portion of the gas sample hose (approximately 5” or 12.7 cm) from that parallel hose using scissors to carefully cut along the connective webbing. Be sure to cut ONLY the connective webbing between the hoses and not the hoses themselves. Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2.
3. Remove Using scissors, carefully cut and remove a piece of the gas sample tubing (approximately 1.5” or
3.8 cm in length) where the NOx filter will be placed. Make the first cut approximately 2” (5.1 cm) from the end of the gas sample tubing. Cut the hose and place the 2” end piece (with metal connector if applicable) aside. Make another cut approximately 1.5” (3.8 cm) from the previous cut and discard the 1.5” (3.8 cm) section of hose. Refer to Figure 1, Figure 2, and Figure 3.
4. Insert Insert the NOx filter in-line where the piece of gas sample hose was removed by pushing each section of tubing about halfway onto the NOx filter barbs. Note that the NOx filter is not direction dependent.
5. Trim In applications that have a draft hose, trim excess tubing from the end piece of the gas sample hose so it and the draft hose are the same length.
NOTE: Filter life is dependent on the application and has a capacity of approximately 3000 ppm•HR. When new, the filter material is purple, but will change to dark brown as the filter loses its capacity to remove acid gas.
NOTE: A barbed hose connector is included in the NOx Filter Kit to reconnect the gas sample hose when the NOx filter is not in use.
IMPORTANT: The housing of the NO glycol, as these substances will cause the NO

filter is made of nylon. Do not expose it to alcohol, solvents, or

filter to deteriorate prematurely and fail.
