Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage54.
Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage66.

SetPowerLineFrequency
PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage65) orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.
Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply .Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.
PTZMode
PTZmodeissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault settings.TheproductcanuseeitherOpticalzoomforinstallationorOpticalZoomformonitoring.ThedefaultmodeisOptical zoomforinstallation.Inthismodeopticalzoomisdisabledformonitoring,butitispossibletoenableviewareasanddigital PTZ.TheGatekeeperfunctionisnotavailableinthismode.
SelectOpticalzoomformonitoringtouseopticalzoomonlyformonitoring(suchasforGatekeeper).InthismodedigitalPTZ andviewareasaredisabled.
Congurecapturemode
CapturemodedenesthemaximumresolutionandmaximumframerateavailableintheAxisproduct.Thecapturemodesettingalso affectsthecamera’sangleofview.
Selectthedesiredcapturemodefromthedrop-downlistandclickOK.
Ifyouselectanothercapturemodethandefault,theproductneedstorebootforthechangestotakeeffect.

BarrelDistortionCorrection
Barreldistortionisalenseffectthatcausesanimagetolookcurved.Theextentofdistortiondependsonthezoomlevel.
Toeditbarreldistortionsettings,clickEditfromVideo&Audio>CameraSettings>ImageCorrection.IntheBarrelDistortion Correctionwindow,adjusttheslidertocorrectthedistortion,usingthegridforassistance.
Note
Barreldistortioncorrectionalsoaffectsimagewidth,height,andresolution.Ahigherlevelmeansthattheimagewidth isretainedattheexpenseofimageheightandresolution.Alowerlevelmeansthatimageheightandresolutionare retainedattheexpenseofimagewidth.
EnableDefog
EnablethisfeaturefromVideo&Audio>CameraSettingstocountertheeffectsoffoggyweatherandforaclearimage. Alternatively,clicktheDefogbuttonintheproduct’sLiveViewpage.ThisbuttoncanbeconguredtoappearintheLiveViewpage fromLiveViewCong>LiveViewLayout.UsetheDefogEffectslidertoadjustthedegreeofcorrectionasrequired.

Widedynamicrange(WDR-ForensicCapture)providesbalancedimagesinsceneswhenthereisaconsiderablecontrastbetween lightanddarkareasintheimage.Thecameraautomaticallyhandlesthetransitionbetweensuchscenesandlow-lightconditions.In complexlightconditionsdisablingWDRmightgiveabetterimage.

Exposureistheamountoflightthecamera’ssensorcapturesforascene.Toomuchlightresultsinawashedoutimageandtoo littlelightresultsinadarkimage.
Exposurevalue-UsetheExposurevalueslidertoadjusttheoverallbrightnessoftheimage.
Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.
Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum imagequality .Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage, selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency. TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.
Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto settingcanbeused. YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata. TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone. NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow. Tip:Ifanareaisextremelybright,drawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto blockoutthebrightareas.
Exposurepriority-WhenMotionisprioritizedandmaximumShuttertimeissettoasmallvalue,motionblurintheimageis minimized.Thiscanbeusefulforrecognitionofmovingobjectssuchaspeopleandvehicles. However,prioritizingmotionmaycauseanincreaseinimagenoise,especiallyinlowlightsituations.WhenLownoiseisprioritized andGainissettoasmallvalue,imagenoiseisminimized.Thelesizeisalsoreduced,whichcanbeusefulifstoragespaceor bandwidthislimited.Beawarethatprioritizinglownoisemayresultinaverydarkimage,especiallyinlowlightsituations.
