Whensettingtheinitialpassword,thepasswordissentincleartextoverthenetwork.Ifthereisariskofnetworksnifng,
rstsetupasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionbeforeresettingthepasswords.

Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforthedataandservices.Axis’productsdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasproducts
maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations,buttoprotectyourdatadothefollowing:

•Don’tusethedefaultpasswordthatcomeswiththeproducts.

•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablyusingapasswordgenerator.

•Don’texposethepassword.

•Changepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear .

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustberesetto
