ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot
Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS
certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The
HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage46.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe
resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeHowtoresettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage57.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

1.ClickUseHTTPS.

Atemporarycerticate(validforoneyear)iscreated,enablingencryptionofalltrafctoandfromtheproduct,andthe
passwordcannowbesetsecurely.

2.Enterapasswordandthenre-enterittoconrmthespelling.

3.ClickOK.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage57)
orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause
imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Whenusing50Hz,themaximumframerateislimitedto25fps.

Note

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof
theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply.Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.

Theproduct’sheateriscontrolledbytheambienttemperatureandisturnedonandoffautomatically.
Ifrequired,theheatercanbeactivatedmanuallybyclickingtheHeaterbutton.Toshowthebutton,
gotoSetup>LiveViewCong.UnderActionButtons,selectShowheaterbuttonandspecifythe
numberofminutestheheatershouldbeactivated.

EnableordisabletheGatekeeperbyselectingOnorOfffromthedrop-downlist.Formoreinformation

Activateorde-activateIRilluminationfromSetup>Video>CameraSettings.Enablethisbuttonfrom

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

AboutH.264format

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
