The 8948 combines Allied Telesyn Layer 3 performance and a compact 1RU size, using less rack space and providing a lower per port cost than comparable Fast Ethernet switches. Designed specifically for access and aggregation in complex service provider and MTU networks, the 8948 offers exceptionally strong QoS with features such as: strict priority scheduling, 3­drop precedence, premarking and remarking, assured forwarding, bandwidth limiting and traffic prioritization. Can implement CIR, CBS/EBS, PIR and PBS protocols, and allows service providers to implement customer SLAs, per hop prioritization and forwarding behavior at downstream devices.
