Safety and Use

Thank you for purchasing this product. We recommend that you read
this chapter carefully before using your phone. The manufacturer
disclaims any liability for damage, which may result as a consequence
of improper use or use contrary to the instructions contained herein.

•TRAFFIC SAFETY：
Given studies, which show that using a mobile phone while driving a

vehicle constitutes a real risk, even when the hands-free kit is used
(car kit, headset...), drivers are requested to refrain from using their
mobile when the vehicle is not parked.
When switched on, your phone emits electromagnetic waves that can
interfere with the vehicle’s electronic systems such as ABS anti-lock
brakes or airbags. To ensure that there is no problem:

- do not place your phone on top of the dashboard or within an airbag
deployment area,

- check with your car dealer or the car manufacturer to make sure that
the dashboard is adequately shielded from mobile phone RF energy.

• CONDITIONS OF USE：
Switch the phone off before boarding an aircraft to avoid prosecution.

Switch the phone off when you are in health care facilities, except in
designated areas. As with many other types of equipment now in
regular use, mobile telephones can interfere with other electrical or
electronic devices, or equipment using radio frequ en cy.
Switch the phone off when you are near gas or flammable liquids.
Strictly obey all signs and instructions posted in a fuel depot, petrol
station, or chemical plant, or in any potentially explosive atmosphere.
When the phone is switched on, it should be kept at least 15 cm from
any medical devices such as a pacemaker, a hearing aid or insulin
pump, etc. In particular when using the phone, you should hold it
against the ear on the opposite side to the device, if any.
To avoid hearing impairment, pick up the call before holding your
phone to your ear. Also move the handset away from your ear while
using the “hands-free” mode because the amplified volume might
cause hearing damage.
Do not let small children use the phone without supervision.
When replacing the cover please note that your phone may contain
substances that could create an allergic reaction.

Always handle your phone with care and keep it in a clean and
dust-free place.
You are advised to switch off the telephone from time to time to
optimize its performance.
Do not allow your phone to be exposed to adverse weather or
environmental conditions (moisture, humidity, rain, infiltration of
liquids, dust, sea air, etc).The manufacturer’s recommended operating
temperature range is -10°C to +55°C.Over 55°C the legibility of the
phone’s display may be impaired, though this is temporary and not
serious.
Do not open or attempt to repair your mobile phone by yourself.
Do not drop, throw or bend your mobil e phone.
Do not paint it.
Use only Alcatel batteries, battery chargers, and accessories that are
compatible with your phone model. (See Accessories List, page 64).
T&A Mobile Phones Limited and its affiliates disclaim any liability
for damage caused by the use of ot her chargers or batteries.
The UIM card mentioned in this manual is only used for UIM version.
In some countries we use NON-UIM version. It is country dependent.
Your phone should not be disposed of in a municipal waste. Please

check local regulations for disposal of electronic products.
Remember to make back-up copies or keep a written record of all
important information stored i n your phone.
Some people may suffer epileptic seizures or blackouts when playing
video games. These seizures or blackouts may occur even if a person
never had a previous seizure or blackout. If you have experienced
seizures or blackouts, or if you have a family history of such
occurrences, please consult your doctor before playing video games
on your phone. Parents should monitor their children’s use of video
games. All persons should discontinue use and consult a doctor if any
of the following symptoms occur: convulsion, eye or muscle twitching,
loss of awareness, involuntary movements, or disorientation. To limit
the likelihood of such symptoms, please take the following safety
precautions:

- Take a minimum of a 15-minute break hourly.

- Play in a room in which all lights are on.

- Play at the farthest distance possible from the screen.
When you play games on your phone, you may experience occasional
discomfort in your hands, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of your
body. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis,

carpal tunnel syndrome, or other m usculoskeletal disorders:

- Take a minimum of a 15 minute-break every hour of game playing.

- If your hands, wrists, or arms become tired or sore while playing,
stop and rest for several hours before playing again.

- If you continue to have sore hands, wrists, or arms during or after
playing, stop the game and see a doctor.

Prolonged exposure to music at full volume on the music
player may damage the listener's hearing.
This symbol on your telephone, the battery and the

accessories means that these products must be taken to
collection points at the end of thei r life:

- Municipal waste disposal centers with specific bins for
these items of equipment

- Collection bins at points of sale.
They will then be recycled, preventing substances being disposed of in
the environment, so that their components can be reused.

In European Union countries:

These collection points are accessible free of charge. All products with
this sign must be brought to these collection p oints.

In non European Union countries:

Items of equipment with this symbol should not be thrown into
ordinary bins if your country or your region has suitable recycling and
collection facilities; instead they are to be taken to collection points
for them to be recycled.

• BATTERY:

Before removing the battery from your phone, please make sure that
the phone is switched off. Observe the following precautions for
battery use:

- Do not attempt to open the battery (due to the risk of toxic fumes and
burns).

- Do not puncture, disassemble or cause a short-circuit in a battery,

- Do not burn or dispose of a used battery in household rubbish or
store it at temperatures above 60 °C. Batteries must be disposed of in
accordance with locally applicable environmental regulations. Only
use the battery for the purpose for which it was designed. Never use
damaged batteries or those not recommended by T&A Mobile Phones
Limited and/or its affiliates.

• CHARGERS:

Mains powered chargers will operate within the temperature range of:

0 °C to 40 °C. The chargers designed f or your mobile phone meet with
the standard for safety of information technology equipment and
office equipment use. They should be used for this purpose only.

Your telephone is equipped with a built-in antenna. For optimal
operation, you should avoid touc hing it or damaging it.

• RADIOWAVES:

Proof of compliance with international standards (ICNIRP) or with
European Directive 1999/5/EC (R&TTE) is required of all
mobile phone models before they can be put on the
market. The protection of the health and safety for the user and any
other person is an essential requirement of these standards or this
directive.
THIS MOBILE PHONE COMPLIES WITH INTERNATIONAL
AND EUROPEAN REQUIREMENTS REGARDING EXPOSURE
TO RADIO WAVES. Your mobile phone is a radio
transmitter/receiver. It was designed and manufactured to comply with
the radiofrequency (RF) exposure thresholds recommended by
international requirements (ICNIRP) 1and by the Council of the

These limits are part of a set of requirements and establish authorized
radiofrequency levels for the public. These limits were established by
independent groups of experts on the basis of regular and detailed
scientific assessments. They include a significant safety margin
intended to ensure the safety of all, regardless of age or state of health.
The exposure standard for mobile phones is determined by a
measurement unit known as the Specific Absorption Rate or “SAR”.
The SAR limit is set by international requirements or by the Council
of the European Union at 2 watts/kilogram (W/kg) averaged over 10
grams of body tissue. The tests used to determine SAR levels were
carried out on the basis of standard usage modes with the phones
transmitting at their maximum power level over the entire range of
frequency bands.
Although the SAR was established at the highest certified level, the

actual SAR level for the mobile phone during use is generally much
lower than the maximum values. In fact, since mobile phones are
designed to operate at many different power levels, they only use the
minimum level of power required to provide a connection to the
network. In theory, the closer you are to a base station antenna, the
lower the power level required by the mobile phone.
The highest tested SAR value for this mobile phone for use at the ear
and compliance against the standard is 1.0 W/kg. While there may be
differences between the SAR levels on various phones and at various
positions, they all meet the relevant International guidelines and EU
requirements for RF (radio-waves) exposure.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) considers that
present scientific information does not indicate the need for
any special precautions for use of mobile phones. If individuals are
concerned, they might choose to limit their own or their children’s RF
exposure by limiting the length of calls, or using “hands-free” devices
to keep mobile phones away from the head and body (fact sheet n°

2. Getting Started

2.1 Set-up

Inserting the UIM card (If any, since some operators are using
NON-UIM version)

Align the tab on top of the battery with the slot in the battery
compartment of your phone. Press down the battery until the latch is
securely in place.

Note：

Long press the key to power off the phone. Pls wait for 10
senconds before you take out the battery to avoid any damage to the
phone memory.

2.2 Charging the battery

The switching charger includes a plug type according the local norm
and after insert the cable, the charger can be plugged to the phone with
a jack. (Please only use Alcatel chargers)

USB port with the mini USB cable (included in the package), the
battery can be charged with the power provided by the computer

（3）To achieve the best performace of the battery we suggest you

charge the battery for12 to 14 hours for the first 3 times.
（4）The battery will be auto discharged if not being used for long

（5）Don’t use the battery or charger with any damage.
（6）The battery performace will be very poor after being charged and

discharged for hundreds of times. Pls change the battery once the
working time is obviously shorter.

2.3 Headset

One headset is included in the package. Before using the headset

please disconnect the charger first since they share the same jack.

3. Basic Function

3.1 Power On/Off

Long press the key to power on and off. If phone password or
PIN code is activated you have to input the right password before
you can use the phone. Please go to [Menu /Security Setting] to set
[PIN] code and [Phone password].

3.2 Making Calls

3.2.1 By enter phone No. directly

In idle screen, enter the phone number (please enter city code first if it

is a long distance fix line) and press key to make calls.

3.2.2 By fast index

In idle screen, enter “Number + #” to lead to a record in the [Contact]

(The Number is the record index in the [Contact]) and then press

key to make calls.

3.2.3 By call records

In idle screen, press key to access Call Records. Use

3.2.4 By speeddial

In idle screen, long press key 1 to 9 to call speeddial numbers. If no
speeddial is set yet, the phone will remind you “No speeddial, set
now?”, press left softkey to access [Contact] to choose number for
speeddial. Please refer to [Contact/Speeddial] for the settings.

3.2.5 Conference Call

When you are talking to the second party over phone you can simply
call the third party from [Contact] or enter the third party’s number

and then press . Once the third part answers the call you can press

again to start a conference call.

 Note：
（1）If the contact has several numbers, the default number is the first

one.
（ 2） Please contact your operator to activate the funciton for

conference call before use it.

3.3 Answering Calls

For incoming calls, if the name and number have been saved, the
name and number will be displayed, otherwise only number will be

displayed. Press to answer the incoming call. You can also set

other keys to answer the incoming calls, please refer to [Menu /Phone
Setting/Answer Mode].

 Note：
The incoming line identification function has to be activated by your

operator to display the incoming call number.

3.4 Setting during Conversation

During conversation，press left softkey [Menu] for the following
functions: [Silent/Unmute], [Contact] a nd [Mess ag e].

Silent/Unmute：the receivers can’t hear caller’s voice.
Contact：to access contact function
Message: to access message function.

4. Contact

The [Contact] allows you to store phone numbers and names (or files)
either in the UIM memory and/or the phone memory. You may store
up to 300 entries in the phone memory. You can access your [Contact]

in idle screen by pressing right softkey , or press “9” in
main menu.

4.1 Contact menu

View: Access the list of contacts (alphabetic order).
Search: to search for a contact (alphabetic order)
Add: to enter number and name of a new contact. (If you add a

contact to [Phone], you can edit name, 3 numbers, Email , Address,
URL, Remark, Incoming call ringtone and Group)
Group: group together names by category: [Family], [Business],
[Friends], [VIP], [Schoolmates], [Phone Records] and [UIM Records].

Speed Dial: to set speed dial numbers for number key 1 to 9
Copy All: to copy all the records in phone to UIM card or all the

record in UIM card to phone

Delete All: to delete all the records in phone or in UIM card
My Number: to enter your own phone numbers for future reference.
Memory Status: to ch eck the number of contacts and the memory

space left.

4.2 Consulting your contact (“View”)

From the idle screen, select [Contact] then [View] to access the list of
your contacts. The names are sorted in alphabetical order.

4.2.1 A vailable options in the contacts list

Once you have selected a name, press the left softkey to access the
following options:
View: to display the name, phone number and location (UIM card or
Phone)

Call: to call the number you have sel ected
Send Message: to create a message to send to the selected contact.
Send Contact: to send the current contact to several recipients by

SMS

Edit: to edit the data of the selected contact.
Delete: to delete the selected contact.

Copy to Phone/ UIM: Copy the file to the phone or UIM contact.

4.2.2 Making the call

Press the key when the name is selected to make a call or select

[Call] in the options menu.

4.2.3 Group

You can group together names by category ([Family], [Business],
[Friends], [VIP], [Schoolmates], [Phone Records] and [UIM Records])
and select a special ringtone. For each group, you can select the
following options:

View: to check the contacts in the group
Modify Group name: to chan ge the name of the group.
Group Ring: to set a special ringtone for that group.

4.2.4 Searching for a name by its first letter

You can search for the person’s name by pressing the key associated
with the first letter of his/her name. For instance, if you press twice,
names starting with “B” will be displayed.

5. Message

From your phone, you can read, write, send and receive SMS message
and share them with other phones.
To access the message from the idle screen, press the top of the

key or press the left softkey and select [Message].

5.1 New Message

In the [Message] menu, select [New Message] and enter your message.
Press the left softkey to access the following list:
Send：send the current message. When no number is edited for
destination, you can either enter the number directly or go to [Conta ct]
by pressing left softkey to pick up one number. Once a number is
entered, press left softkey to [Send Only], [Send & Save], [Save Only]
and [Contact]. [Send Only] to send the current SMS, [Send & Save] to
send the current SMS and save it to [Outbox], [Save Only] to save the
current SMS to [Drafts] and [Contact] to choose destinations (up to 9
receivers).
Save：to save the current SMS to [Drafts]

5.2 Inbox

In the [Inbox], read and unread messages are shown with different
icons. Press the left softkey to access the following list:
View： to check the detailed information about current SMS and then,
by pressing left softkey, the following functions are available:[Reply],
[Delete], [Forward], [Extract number], [Call] and [Prefix].

Reply：to reply SMS to the sender
Delete：to delete the current SMS
Delete all：to delete all the SMS in [Inbox]
Forward：to edit and send the current SMS to someone else
Call：to call the sender

5.3 Outbox

The [Outbox] includes sent and unsent messages. Press the left
softkey to access the following list:
View： to check the detailed information about current SMS and then,

by pressing left softkey, to delete or forward it

Forward：to edit and send the current SMS to someone else
Delete：to delete the current SMS
Delete all：to delete all the SMS in [Outbox]

5.4 Drafts

The [Drafts] includes all the unfinished messages. Press the left
softkey to access the following list:

Edit：to edit the current SMS
Send：to send the current SMS
Delete：to delete the current SMS
Delete all：to delete all the SMS in [Drafts]

5.5 Text Template

A list of predefined message are available. Select one, edit it if
required, and then send it.

5.6 Smiley

A list of predefined smiley are available. Select one, edit it if required,
and then send it.

5.7 Setting

You can change the message setting here:
Save Option：to choose save position [Phone] or [Card]. If you
choose [Phone] the received SMS will only be saved to UIM card
after the phone memory is full.

Validity period：you can choose 12 hours, 1 day, 3 days or Max
Delivery Report：to [Activate] or [Deactivate] this function. Once

activated you’ll receive the confirmation [Sent or Unsent] from the
network after you send the SMS.
Priority：to choose [Normal], [Interactive], [Urgent] or [E m er g en cy]

5.8 Memory St atus

To check the memory status in phone and UIM card.

6. Call Record

From the idle screen, press the key and your phone displays a call

list.
Each call is displayed with an icon indicating the type of the call
(Missed calls, Incoming calls, Outgoing calls).

Select a phone number in the list and press the key to redial it or

press the left softkey to access the following options:[View], [Save],
[Call], [Send Message], [Delete].

6.1 Missed Calls

The [Missed Calls] includes all the missed calls. Press the left softkey
to access the following list:

Save：to save the number to [Contact]
Call：to call this number
Send Message: to send SMS to the current number
Delete：to delete the current record

6.2 Incoming Calls

You can check all the incoming calls here. Press left softkey to access

the following list:
[View], [Save], [Call], [Send Message] and [Delete]. Please refer to
[Missed Calls] for detailed operation.

6.3 Outgoing Calls

You can check all the outgoing calls here. Press left softkey to access

the following list:
[View], [Save], [Call], [Send Message] and [Delete]. Please refer to

Please only save the mid or MP3 files in [MUSIC] file or root

（1）The UIM card will be locked if you enter the wrong PIN code 3
