1 General Introduction

Thank you for purchasing of CDMA Fixed Wireless Phone of ALCATEL. The phone has been designed to operate with the latest digital communication technology - Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA).
The phone provides advanced features as follows:

2 Important Information

The product can only be installed indoors. Do not place the phone near high temperature objects, under direct sunlight, near source of
water, near fire or near inflammable and explosive materials. Avoid using the phone in high temperature or humidity.
The phone may interfere with heart pacemaker, hearing aid and other electronic medical devices.
Therefore please follow the instructions given by your equipment suppliers or consult your doctor. Turn your phone OFF in health care centers if any regulations posted in the area instruct you to do so. Hospitals or health care centers may be using equipment that may be sensitive to external RF energy.
Place the phone away from other electronic devices like TV and Radio to avoid interference. Keep the product away from magnetic field and static electricity. Place the phone out of the reach of small children. Do not attempt to reassemble the phone by yourself. Only authorized personnel could service the
phone and its accessories. Faulty installation or service can be dangerous and may invalidate the warranty.
Do not clean the phone while in operation. Before attempting to clean the phone, turn the phone
off, disconnect the external power adapter and take out the battery. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
Do not drop, knock or shake the phone. Rough handling may break the phone body and internal
circuit boards.
Do not use the phone if the antenna is damaged. Replace the damaged antenna immediately by
a qualified technician. Use only a manufacturer approved antenna. Non-approved antennas, modifications or attachments may impair call quality and damage the phone.
Do not hold the antenna during operation. This may affect call quality and cause the phone to
operate at unintended power levels.
Keep the antenna free from obstructions and position the antenna straight up. This will ensure
best call quality.
Only use the battery and the power adapter approved by the manufacturer. If not, it may cause
an explosion or result in a short circuit.
It is highly recommended to fully charge the battery before initial use. The battery might have
been discharged during storage and delivery.
Do not throw battery. Batteries are not to be disposed off by putting them in fire. It may explode
or catch fire.
The power adapter must be used within the specified AC voltage range. Take out the battery if you won’t use your phone for a long time and keep the battery well. During lightning, do not touch the power plug. It may result in an electric shock or death. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Always grasp and pull the plug, not the cord. Do not put
heavy things on the power cord or bend it too much.
During daily use, do not pull out the power adapter. The battery is used for backup power, which
will not cause the increasing consumption of electricity.
Don’t use the power adapter if the power cable is damaged. Contact the maintenance center
immediately and replace the adapter.

4 Basic Operations

4.1 Powering On/Off

Switch the “Power” switch (on the rear of the Phone) to ON, your phone should go to idle screen and is ready to use.
You can turn the phone off directly by switching the “Power ON/OFF” switch (on the rear of the phone) to OFF position. If the phone will not be used for long time, please turn this switch to OFF.

4.2 Making a Call

You can lift the handset or press the SPEAKER Key, and then enter a phone number, the number will be automatically dialed after several seconds; or you can press the DIAL/REDIAL key to make a call.

4.3 Answering a Call

When the phone rings, LCD will display the incoming number or name. Pick up t he handset or press
SPEAKER Key to answer the call. The ring tone and ring-tone volume can be changed in the Settings menu.

4.4 Ending a Call

Press SPEAKER key to end a call when you answer the call by pressing SPEAKER key. Put down the handset when you answer the call by picking up the handset.

4.5 Speed dialing

In the standby mode, you have two ways to speed dial:
1) Press * key and then key 2 to 9 to speed dial a number. If you have not set the number for speed dial please go to CONTACTS>Speed dial to set. Key 1 is set as Voice mail number.
2) Press one of the 5 keys on the right of the phone directly. You can input a number and then press one of the key to save as the speed dialing number.

4.6 Operations during a call

During a call, you can input another number and press DIAL/REDIAL key to make a three-way call. Press the left soft key to: Mute /Unmute the conversion Move to the menu of Contacts and Messages

4.7 Text input guide

4.7.1 Text input methods
The phone includes five text input methods: Alphabetical English ( abc, ABC), ENG, numbers and symbols
4.7.2 Changing the text input method
In the text edit screen, press the “#” key to change the input method (ENG, abc, ABC, 123, Symb).
4.7.3 Entering English
For English method, as soon as you insert characters in sequence to form a word, the common word is automatically displayed. If this word is not the one you expect, use the up and down keys to view the required word. Then, press OK key or “*” key and numeric key to select. Press “0” to input a space.
4.7.4 Entering number
In 123 mode, press the number key to enter the corresponding number.
4.7.5 Entering symbols
In the text input mode, you can press “*” to insert the common punctuations. In Symbols input mode, you can choose one kind of symbol and press OK to confirm and use the up and down keys to view the required symbols. Then, press OK key or “*” key and numeric key to select.

5 Main Menu

Press Left Soft Key to enter the main menu from the idle screen. The main menu includes: Contacts, Messages, Call log, Tools, and Settings. The menu tree is as follow:

6 Contacts

The phone can store up to 200 contacts. From the standby mode press the right soft key to display the list of contacts directly.

6.1 Add new

1) Select Menu > Contacts > Add new;
2) Scroll to the item you want to add, press Left Soft Key to input the item, press Left Soft Key to
finish the inputting, the phone will ask you to input the name of the contact, input the name to finish adding a contact;
3) You can input new phone number in standby mode firstly, and then select relative item and
finish adding new contact ;
4) If you want to add a new item to a contact stored in phone, you could view the contact
information, then press L.KEY, scroll to the item you want to add.

6.2 Search name

You can search a contact by name or by first letter.

6.3 Groups

6.3.1 Add a Contact to the Group
1) Select Menu > Contacts > Groups, scroll to the group that the desired contact belongs,

2) Press OK , then press Left Soft Key, select Add,
3) Scroll to the desired contact, press Left Soft Key to add the contact to the group.
6.3.2 Delete a Contact from the Group
1) Select Menu > Contacts > Groups, scroll to the group that the desired contact belongs,
2) Press OK, then press Left Soft Key, scroll to Delete, press Left Soft Key, change the contact’s
group to No Group.
6.3.3 Rename a Group
There are 5 groups in your phone; these 5 groups can not be renamed. You could rename the group you add.
1) Select Menu > Contacts > Groups, scroll to the group you want to rename, press Left Soft Key,
2) Scroll to Rename, press Left Soft Key, rename the group, and press Left Soft Key to rename the
group.

6.4 Delete all

1) Press R.KEY to view the contact list in standby mode, scroll to the desired contact, press Left
Soft Key twice, scroll to Delete, and then press Left Soft Key
2) You will be prompted “Delete?”, choose OK to delete the contact.

6.5 Speed dial

Select CONTACT>SPEED DIAL to set speed dial number for key 2 to 9, where key 1 is set for Voice mail number. Press left soft key to choose a number from CONTACTS. If the number has been set already, press the left soft key to ADD NEW or DELETE.

6.6 Memory status

Select CONTACTS>MEMORY STATUS to check the status of phone and UIM.

7 Messages

You could compose a new message, view the inbox and outbox, perform SMS setting, voice mail. In standby mode, you can press Left Soft Key and then select Messages to access.

7.1 Create a Message

You could send a message to one recipient or multiple recipients.
1) In Messages, press Create and Left Soft Key to compose a new message,
2) Input the text, press Left Soft Key to finish inputting the text,
3) You can choose Input Number or select the recipients from Contacts. Or you can choose Send
to many, add the numbers you want to send .You can also set the priority by selecting Priority. Or you can save the message to outbox by selecting Save.

7.2 Inbox

1) If there is a new message, the phone will ring alert. In standby mode, press Left Soft Key to read
the message,
2) Or you could read the new message in the Inbox. Select Menu > Messages , scroll to Inbox,
press Left Soft Key, scroll to the message you want to read.
3) Then press L.KEY you can
a) Reply: Reply the message.

b) Call: Call the number(s) in the message. c) Forward: Forward the message d) Save Number: Save the number(s) in the message e) Delete: Delete the message

7.3 Outbox

1) In Messages, scroll to Outbox and press Left Soft Key to view the outbox
2) Scroll to the message you want to read, press Left Soft Key to Save Number, Call, Forward,
Delete.

7.4 Draft

Select Messages>Draft to access the list of draft messages. Press left soft key to EDIT or DELETE a message.

7.5 Voice mail

Select Messages>Voice mail to access the voice messages. Press left soft key to:
Voice mail: View and receive voice messages. Listen to voice mail: Check voice mail notification. Voice mail number: Set the voice mail number.

7.6 Delete Messages

You could delete one message in Inbox or Outbox menu, or you could Delete all Inbox, Outbox, Draft or all messages by selecting Delete Messages in Messages menu.

7.7 Memory Status

In this menu, you could check the phone memory status and UIM card memory status for message s.

7.8 Message Settings

You can set Send mode, Call back number, Deliver reports menu.

8 Call log

You can find Missed Calls, Received calls, Dialed calls, Call time and Delete record menu. In standby mode, press Left Soft Key and then select Call log.

8.1 Missed Calls

1) Select Missed Calls in Recent Calls menu,
2) The missed calls list will be displayed; you could scroll to the desired number,
3) Press L.KEY to view the incoming call information, press Left Soft Key to:
a) Send SMS: Use this number to send a message, b) Save: Save this number to contacts, c) Delete: Delete this number in the list.

8.2 Received calls

1) Select Received calls in Call log menu,
2) The Received calls list will be displayed; you could scroll to the desired number,
3) Press Left Soft Key to view the received calls information, press Left Soft Key to:
a) Send SMS: Use this number to send a message, b) Save: Save this number to contacts, c) Delete: Delete this number in the list.

8.3 Dialed calls

1) Select Dialed calls in Call log menu,
2) The dialed calls list will be displayed; you could scroll to the desired number,
3) Press Left Soft Key to view the incoming call information, press Left Soft Key to:
a) Send SMS: Use this number to send a message, b) Save: Save this number to contacts, c) Delete: Delete this number in the list.

8.4 Call time.

Select Call time in Call log menu, you could scroll the cursor to Received calls, Dialed calls , All calls, Reset time to view total duration of the received calls, dialed calls, all calls and reset call time.

8.5 Delete Record

Select Delete Record in Call log menu, you could scroll the cursor to Delete Missed calls, Received calls, Dialed calls and All calls list.

9 Tools

9.1 FM radio

Select Menu > Tools > FM radio, you can find:
Play: To play FM radio, and press Left Soft Key again, the FM radio will be closed Global search: Search the available channels automatically. You need choose to save or give up the channel first and then it will search the next one. Channel list: Access to channel list:
View: display the channels you have saved. Add new: you can input the channel you have known directly. Delete: delete the channel you have chosen. Delete all; delete all channels you have saved.

9.2 Schedule

You could add your schedule in the phone, to add a schedule, please Add new: To add a new schedule, move the cursor to the date you want to add the schedule, then press OK key, input the schedule, then press Left Soft Key to set the schedule time.
View: View the schedule you added. Press left soft key to delete or view the details. Delete all: Delete all the schedules once

9.3 Alarm

Here you could set the alarm clock. Select Alarm in Tools menu, and then press Left Soft Key to Set the alarm or Disable the alarm.

9.4 Calculator

You could find Calculator in the Tools menu. “*” key to enter a decimal point, “#” key is for a negative sign, select the operation by pressing keys. Press Left Soft Key the show the result, Right Soft Key to clear a number.

9.5 World time

This Function provides some world time information for you.

10 Settings

10.1 Tones

Here you can set the ring tone and volume.

10.1.1 Ring tone
In Tones menu, select Ring tone, then you can set the ringer for Contacts, Messages and Alarm.
10.1.2 Volume
In Tones menu, select Volume, then you can set the volume for Ring tone, Keypad tone, Handset and Hand free.
10.1.3 Alert
In Tones menu, select Alert, and then you can turn on/off the alert of Service Change, Minute Alert, Call Connect, Call hand up and Call waiting.

10.2 Display

Here you can set the backlight, contrast, language.
10.2.1 Backlight time
In Display menu, select Backlight , then you can change the timer of turning off the backlight by selecting Backlight time, or you could turn on/off the backlight in Backlight settings menu.
10.2.2 Contrast
In Display menu, select Contrast, then you can change the contrast of LCD. There are 7 levels, 1 is the highest contrast.
10.2.3 Language
In Display menu, select Language, then you can change the phone language.

10.3 Security

The initial password is “0000”, input the password, press OK key, then you can enter the security menu.
10.3.1 PIN settings
In Security menu, select PIN settings, then you could Disable PIN, Enable PIN, and Change PIN. This menu is for UIM mode only.
10.3.2 Restrict Received
In Security menu, select Restrict received, then you could Restrict All, or input the Restrict Numbers. There are 10 restrict numbers you can set, select the empty restrict number, then input the
number you want to restrict.
10.3.3 Restrict Dialed
In Security menu, select Restrict dialed, then you could Restrict All, or input the Restrict Numbers. There are 10 restrict numbers you can set, select the empty restrict number, then input the number you want to restrict.
10.3.4 Change Password
In Security menu, select Change Password, then you could change the password of ente ring security menu. Select Change Password, you will be prompted to enter a new password twice, press
OK key to confirm inputting, Press CANCEL key to clear a number.
10.3.5 Reset
In Security menu, select Reset, then you set keypad password. Select Set Keypad Password, you will be prompted to enter a new password twice, press OK key to confirm inputting, Press CANCEL key to clear a number. If you want to cancel the keypad password, input nothing twice. Once this

function is set and keypad is locked, each time before you using the phone, the keypad password must be entered. In standby mode, hold the CANCEL key over 2 seconds, the keypad lock function will be active. You can only answering calls or dialing emergency call in this mode. To deactivate the keypad lock function, press any key, you will be prompted to enter password, please input the password you set before.

10.4 Call settings

10.4.1 Auto Answer
Select Auto Answer in Call Settings menu, you can choose On or Off.
10.4.2 Voice Privacy
Select Voice Privacy in Call Settings menu, there are 2 options to choose, Enhanced and Standard.
10.4.3 Dial Delay Time
Select Dial Delay Time in Call Settings menu, you could set the dial delay time after you input the numbers, the timer from 0 second to 9 second. It means that you input the receipt’s number; the phone will dial this number after the timer you set.

10.5 Network Service

Please consult your operator for details on this function.

10.6 Phone Info

You could check the phone information in this menu. The phone information include s Phone Number (need you to input the number first), SW Version (Software Version), HW Version (Hardware Version).

10.7 Port Speed

Please consult your operator for details on this function.

10.8 Data/Fax

Please consult your operator for details on this function.

Appendix

Data Service

Model CF45d, CF80d, CF19d can provide high speed data service (up to 153.6 kbps, the actual speed depends on your CDMA service provider and the service you have purchased). You can use the phone as a modem for your computer. The user manual of this function please refers to the user manual in the CD disk for data service.

Quick Troubleshooting Guide

Unable to send/receive data/fax calls: Check the connections to computer and verify that
necessary software has been properly installed and configured.
Moisture or ventilation problems: Visually inspect the phone body, moisture can damage the
phone. Ventilation is also very important. Move the phone to improve the ventilation as necessary.
No power: Verify that AC power source and its corresponding circuit breaker are functioning
properly.
If Phone can’t make data connection:
¾ Make sure to follow Modem installation procedures ¾ Make sure that you have purchased CDMA1x service from your CDMA service provider ¾ Make sure that both PC’s modem driver and proper software are installed correctly
Unable to receive incoming calls:
¾ Make sure that the incoming call is not restricted; ¾ Make sure the FAX/DATA mode setting is OFF ¾ Make sure that your Phone is having good signal reception
Unable to make outgoing calls:
¾ Make sure that the numbers you dialed are not restricted; ¾ Make sure that your Phone is having good signal reception
Unable to receive SMS: Make sure that your Phone’s memory is not full for storing SMS. If the
memory is full, please empty inbox.
While charging the battery, DON’T disconnect the charger before the battery is fully charged.
