Aboutthis documentAbout this document
Purpose
The ES64U is an extension of the 1675 LambdaUnite MSS capabilities. It provides
Ethernet Layer 2 switching features across the different physical interfaces provided by
the way of Ethernet I/O boards. This equipment is also supplying an SMP management
interface based on an Alcatel-Lucent proprietary MIB definition.
The complete SMP MIB description is supplied by Alcatel-Lucent via AS.1 files.
This document aims to describe the usage of this MIB from the management system point
of view. It is proposed by Alcatel-Lucent to customers in order to help the development of
a dedicated management system dealing with the full discovery and provisioning of the
ES64U.
Intended audience
This document is intended to who ever is concerned with the SMP management of the
ES64U.
It is considered as a reference guide for ES64U network management via SMP
interface.

MIB field name Description
sysDescr
sysDescr [2,3] represents the Major version (number)
sysDescr [4,5] represents the Minor version (number)

Generic interface MIB tables
The generic interface MIB tables are:
•
IfStackTable (standard)
•
IfInvStackTable (standard)

IfTable (standard)
•
IfXTable (standard extension)
•
OpticsIMIfTable (proprietary)
•
OpticsIMEthConfTable (proprietary)

•
OpticsIMEthVLANTypeTable (proprietary)
The relevant managed attributes of the tables involved in the interfaces/ports management
are the following:
IfStackTable (IF-MIB)
The ifStackTable contains information on the relationships between the multiple
sub-layers of network interfaces.
Object identifier (OID):
1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.2
Full path:
iso(1).org(3).dod(6).internet(1).mgmt(2).mib2(1).ifMIB(31).ifMIBObjects(1).ifStackTable(2)
Description
In particular, the ifStackTable contains information on which sub-layers run on top of'
which other sub-layers, where each sub-layer corresponds to a conceptual row in the
ifTable. For example, when the sub-layer with ifIndex value x runs over the
sub-layer with
ifIndex value y, then this table contains:
ifStackStatus.x.y = active
For each ifIndex value, I, which identifies an active interface, there are always at least
two instantiated rows in this table associated with I. For one of these rows, I is the value
of
ifStackHigherLayer; for the other, I is the value of ifStackLowerLayer.(IfIis

example, two rows exist even for an interface which has no others stacked on top or

ifInvStackTable (IF-MIB)
The ifInvStackTable contains information on the relationships between the multiple
sub-layers of network interfaces.
Object identifier (OID):

Full path:
iso(1).org(3).dod(6).internet(1).mgmt(2).mib2(1).ifInvMIB(77).ifInvMIBObjects(1).ifInvStackTable(1)
Description
In particular, the ifInvStackTable contains information on which sub-layers run
'underneath' which other sub-layers, where each sub-layer corresponds to a conceptual
row in the ifTable. For example, when the sub-layer with ifIndex value x runs underneath
the sub-layer with ifIndex value y, then this table contains:
ifInvStackStatus.x.y = active
For each ifIndex value, z, which identifies an active interface, there are always at least
two instantiated rows in this table associated with z. For one of these rows, z is the value
of
ifStackHigherLayer; for the other, z is the value of ifStackLowerLayer.(Ifzis
not involved in multiplexing, then these are the only two rows associated with z.)
For example, two rows exist even for an interface which has no others stacked on top or
below it:
ifInvStackStatus.z.0 = active
ifInvStackStatus.0.z = active
This table contains exactly the same number of rows as the ifStackTable , but the rows
appear in a different order.

OpticsIMEthAvailableBandwidth (RO)
Index of the table A unique value greater than 0
Indicates the available bandwidth of a
specific port (this value applies to the
value which can be decrease from
opticsIMIfRateLimitedSpeed)
Indicates the available bandwidth of a
specific port.
1. This parameter represents the
available BW which can be assigned
for CIR services using this port as
their egress port
2. This parameter is meaningful only
when
opticsIMEthCirOverbookingFactor
is set to a non-zero value.
3. This parameter is decreased by the
CIR value of the traffic descriptors
associated with services using this
port as outflow.
4. Initial Available Bandwidth value is:
In kbit/s
Minimum value: 1Mbit/s
Default value: 0 Gbit/s
• In case of rate limit = 0
• Initial value = ifSpeed * (60
/
72)*(CirOverbookingFactor/
100)
• In case of rate limit ≠ 0
• Initial value = ifSpeed * (60
/
