technician as directed by FCC regulations. Use of an antenna other than that outlined in the FCC and IC certification filings for
each of the radio products may violate FCC regulations. This device operation is subject to the following two conditions:
1. It may not cause harmful interference.
2. It must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
The OmniSTAR Demodulator Kit provides a link between the GeoSteer system and the OmniSTAR correction satellite for
your region. This manual provides the instructions for installing the OmniSTAR Demodulator Kit onto the GeoDock of the
GeoSteer system. Follow the instructions provided to install this kit.
Procedure
1.Turn off the GeoSteer system, disconnect the RF cables
from the GeoDock and remove the GeoDock from the
vehicle.
_____________________________________________
Note: The GeoSteer system must always be turned off
before connecting or disconnecting cables.
____________________________________________
2.Remove the GeoDock cover by removing the eight Phillips
screws from the bottom of the GeoDock using a #1 Phillips
screwdriver
3.Locate cable ties on the bottom of the GeoDock and cut
4.Locate the GPS cable (201-0540-01) attached to the front
of the GPS antenna. Unscrew the connector and remove
the cable
Note: If necessary, the GPS antenna can be loosened and
rotated by loosening the bolt in the center of the GeoDock
magnet with a 7/16" wrench.
5.Replace the cable you have just removed with the
OmniSTAR RF cable (201-0536-01) provided with the
installation kit.
Note: Hand tighten only. Do not overtighten.
6. Route the OmniSTAR RF cable on the side opposite of the
Cell Modem cable (201-0538-01) and secure both cables
with cable ties.
7.Reinstall GeoDock cover removed in Step 1 with the eight
Phillips screws and a #1 Phillips screwdriver.
________________________________________________
Note: To insert the screws on the plastic cover, slowly
rotate the screw counterclockwise until the screw thread
drops into the existing threads on the cover, then turn the
screw clockwise to tighten. Do not over tighten the screws.
Do not exceed 10 in-lbs (1.1 Nm) torque.
________________________________________________
8.Attach the OmniSTAR Demodulator Assembly to the
bottom of the GeoDock assembly using two M6 x 25mm
screws with two M6 split washers.
9.Tighten the screws with a #3 Philips screwdriver.
10. Attach the OmniSTAR RF cable to the TNC connector on
the OmniSTAR demodulator as shown in photo.
Note: Connector only fits on one side of the OmniSTAR
demodulator despite the two ports looking similar. Do not
force connector, if connector does not engage, check to see
it is the proper port.
Note: Hand tighten only. Do not over tighten.
11. Attach the GeoDock assembly to the GeoDock Mounting
Plate on top of the vehicle.
_______________________________________________
Note: The GeoSteer system must always be turned off
before connecting or disconnecting cables.
_______________________________________________
Note: If this is the initial GeoSteer install, refer to the
GeoSteer installation manual for proper installation
procedures.
12. Attach the 7M Coax GPS Cable (201-0516-01) to the rear
of the OmniSTAR Demodulator.
13. Attach the 7M Cell Modem cable (201-0539-02) to the
GeoDock Cell Modem cable (201-0538-01)
Note: Hand tighten only. Do not overtighten.
14. Attach the Power and Data Extension Cable (PN 201-0535-
01) to the rear of the OmniSTAR Demodulator. The
connectors have keys and will only engage in the correct
orientation. If the connector does not engage, check the
orientation. To avoid possible damage, never force the
connector.
Note: To disconnect the cable from the radio, press the two
side latches on the cable connector and pull away from the
radio.
15. Route Power and Data Extension Cable with the GeoSteer
coaxial cables running to the GeoSteer Control Unit.
16. Bundle the cables together every 12” (30cm) using the
cable ties provided. Use a wire cutter to trim.
17. Attach the Power and Data Extension Cable to the
EXPANSION connector of the GeoSteer Main Cable
Harness.
18. Refer to your GeoSteer User Manual for the OmniSTAR
setup instructions.
Note: In order for the OmniSTAR Demodulator to receive a correction signal, a subscription to the OmniSTAR service must
be purchased and the Demodulator must be set to the proper frequency for the region it is operating in. Refer to the GeoSteer
User Manual for instructions on setting the radio frequency. For region frequencies, see reference table below. For
OmniSTAR subscription information, contact your OmniSTAR service representative.
The OmniSTAR Demodulator Kit has an onboard LED light that can assist with troubleshooting in the event of a malfunction.
Figure 1 OmniSTAR Demodulator Diagnostic LEDs
Normal Operation
During normal operation, the LED will be illuminated green with an orange LED blinking rapidly (1-2 times/second). If the
LED is steady green with only one blink every 4-5 seconds, it means the unit is powered up but is not receiving data from the
OmniSTAR satellite. If the unit is not receiving data, verify the OmniSTAR Demodulator is set to the proper frequency for the
region of operation. Refer to your GeoSteer user manual for instructions on how to change the frequency as well as Table 1 in
this manual and the OmniSTAR website for regional frequencies.
