How to use the guide
Example:
The Ericsson Control Applications is a state-of-the-art business communications system. Its alliance of features and facilities effectively improves communications for virtually any kind of organisation.
This user guide will describe how to operate the functions in the Control Application (including Radio Access Communication), with the Control Telephone Terminal, CTT10C.
Note: Some of the functions described in this guide are dependent
on system settings controlled by the system administrator. The CTT10C supports more functions than described in this user guide, e.g. “Personal number”, “Integrated voice mail”, “Do not disturb” etc., for a description of such functions see the user guide for the Dialog 3213 system telephone.
The description of each feature is divided into two columns. To the left on the page, symbols are used to describe both what key(s) are to be pressed and the response of the system. To the right on the page, the description texts are presented, with requests to perform an action presented in
bold
typeface.
An incoming IDA call is indicated by a ringing signal. Simultaneously, the incoming call status and call identification is indicated in the concerned line key. As long as there is a free line key, all incoming IDA calls are indicated on the panel.
Note: Line 3 is reserved for outgoing traffic only.
Press the relevant line key to answer the call, that is in the incoming call state
The key status changes to “Active call”.

Description
DIRECT ACCESS KEYS
ABCD
RADIO ACCESS KEYS
FUNCTION KEYS
Direct Access (DA) keys
The DA keys are used to make an outgoing call (without manually dialling any number), to answer a DA call or in combination with a function key to perform specific functions (e.g. transfer of calls). The DA keys provide fast access to a large number of pre-programmed parties. The incoming as well as outgoing connections are established at the touch of a key. The DA keys are organised in a number of pages that allows you to have many pre-selected parties.
Radio access (RA) keys provide fast access to up to thirty radio channels. It is possible to activate monitoring as well as transmission paths to the pre-defined radio channels. The RA keys are organised in five pages. See section “Radio keys”.
These keys are used to activate control functions such as hold, DTMF, Auto transfer, transfer, monitor, conference, broadcast, handsfree, transfer map, divert, logout/lock and redial etc. Further there are keys to activate the pop-up keypad (on the panel), macro keys and the speed dialler. Functions that are not available at a position will be removed or dimmed.
Hold
To park an active call. The call is not disconnected, but can be taken and activated by pressing the parked line key again.
Transfer
To transfer an answered incoming or an outgoing call from this position to another position.
Diversion
To activate or deactivate the function of different diversion types of IDA calls to other (pre-programmed) terminals or extensions.
Conference
To select a call to be included into a conference, or to “mark” a monitored line for monitor conference.

The system administrator may determine how new calls are to be handled when arriving (incoming call) or placed (outgoing call) at the terminal. It is possible to choose between a number of options, which are set on a per-system basis:
- New call will automatically be connected to the free handset
- Existing call will automatically be disconnected
- Existing call will automatically be put on hold (both DA and IDA)
- Not allowed, user must disconnect or put the existing call on hold
When a wrong procedure is performed, or when a function is unavailable, or when a system limit (e.g. maximum number of parties in a conference) is reached, “the Illegal operation” icon will appear on the key.

Each user may initiate or receive a call on this line. When one user initiates or receives a call, the other positions where the key is represented will get the indication “Line in use on other position” on that key. If these other users wish to join in this call, they may do so by activating the key (provided the call has not been made private and multiple intrusion is not barred for this key).

Radio channel assignment

RADIO CHANNEL ASSIGNMENT
Radio channel assignment is the process of defining the radio channels (from the available predefined radio channels) to be displayed at your position. It is possible to assign up to twelve radio channels for simultaneous presentation. The assignment of radio channels normally takes place from the management system, but the MD110 Control Application provides a function allowing you as an operator to configure or reconfigure one or more of the radio keys at any time.
ASSIGNING A RADIO CHANNEL TO A RADIO ACCESS KEY
Assigning a predefined radio channel to a radio access key (radio channel selection key).
The radio channel selection key to be assigned (or reassigned) must first be deselected, see section “Radio channel selection”. You may change the radio page at any time during the assignment, see section “Radio keys”.

Incoming forced speech selcalls are only shown in channel mode, and not in queue mode.
The following facilities are available :
• Initiate individual and group selcalls to mobile units (MUs)
• Answer incoming selcalls
• Display selcall details including: Channel identity Mobile unit identity Time of arrival for incoming calls Call status(incoming, outgoing, answered, busy, parked) Call priority

RADIO TELEPHONE INTERCONNECTION

The radio telephone interconnection (RTI) function is applicable in duplex and semi-duplex radio systems only, and provides communication between a mobile unit on a radio channel and a telephone line. A radio channel may be automatically accessed from a telephone line, using the RTI facilities. This implies that a telephone line may be connected to a radio channel, using a normal telephone call and facilities such as transfer, redirect and diversion.
The terminal operator may make two different types of RTI calls: IDA and DA calls. The procedure for IDA calls described below is also applicable when making radio calls from an ordinary administrative telephone set.
The RTI function also allows mobile units to call telephone extensions.
Make an IDA call To automatically select a line:

When ring tones have ceased, wait for a confirmation tone before proceeding with the call. See section “On the air” how to generate further ring tones, selcall codes etc.
63

Radio telephone interconnection

Make a DA call In order to make an RTI call using a DA key, the DA key must
be preprogrammed. The number on the DA key must comprise of either:
ROD CH 712
*
The access code for the required radio channel followed by “*”
or
ROD CH 712 12305
The access code for the required radio channel followed by the selcall id of a particular mobile radio unit or group, e.g. 71212305, where 712 is the telephone access coder of the radio channel, and 12305 is the selcall id of the required mobile radio unit.
The first method is used to get access to the radio channel, and the second method is used to address a particular mobile radio unit.
Regardless of what method is used, the methods described in section “On the air” may be used to access more/other mobile radio units. Many DA keys may be programmed in this way for quick access to various radio channels and /or different mobile radio units. The proceeding RTI is indicated on the chosen radio channel key at all operator positions.
Monitoring and transmission during RTI
Channel monitoring and transmission can be performed during an RTI. Transmission will be received by both RTI parties.
Note : If the system is configured to temporarily disable RTI monitoring, it may be re-enabled by briefly pressing the
PTT key (provided the channel is selected for transmission) or sending an outgoing selcall on the radio channel.
An outgoing RTI may be force released at any time. See section “Forced release”.

Automatic Disconnection If there is no speech on the channel for a number of
(configurable) seconds (typically 20 seconds), a missing speech warning beep will be heard and if no more speech is detected, the connection will be disconnected after a few seconds. In any case, an RTI cannot last longer than a number of minutes (configurable), then it will be disconnected.
