U17040 Set of slits and diaphragms
Instruction sheet

®
The set of slits and diaphragms can be used in a variety of experiments on geometrical and wave optics.
1. Description, technical data
The set of slits and diaphragms consists of five optical
objects in slide frames 50 mm x 50 mm.
1 Slit Slit width 1 mm
1 Threefold slit Slit width 1 mm
Slit spacing 5 mm
1 Fivefold slit Slit width 1 mm
Slit spacing 5 mm
1 Apertured diaphragm 8 mm Ø
1 “F-diaphragm”
2. Examples of use
• The slits are used for the generation of rays or
beams of light for experiments on refraction, reflection, determination of focal lengths of lenses
and mirrors etc.
• The apertured diaphragm finds use e.g. with the
demonstration of lens abberations, spherical and
chromatic.
• Use the “F-diaphragm” with the proof of the lens
laws e.g. magnification, image, Camera obscura.
