LP-C12
The Yorkville Sound LP-C12 is a highly flexible stage lighting controller that doesn’t sacrifice ease of use to achieve a wide range of functionality. With twelve channels of lighting control and a broad assortment of chase, audio, and other effects to choose from, the LP-C12 has what it takes to get you through nearly any job you can throw at it. The
LP-C12 can be used to control any combination of the Yorkville LP series light bars, including the older LP302 and LP304.
Please note that the LP-C12 will not work with other brands of lights that use DMX control.

QuiCk Start Guide

1. Connect a standard XLR cable from the LP-C12 to any compatible Yorkville lighting product (LP-LED4, LP302 and/or the LP304).
2. Plug the light bar into a standard 3-pronged grounded AC receptacle, both the light bar and the controller (which is powered from the light bar) will turn on.
3. Push the Scene 1 button on the controller and set up your lights for your first scene (the color control is active only for the LP-LED4 and other LP-LED color controllable products).
4. Changes to a scene are stored in memory in real time, so you don’t need to do anything to store the scene you’ve created. The next time you load Scene 1, it will come back just as you’ve set it up now.
Hint: The factory preset scenes and some of the effects patches were created with the assumption that lights 1-4 and lights 5-8 are set at the front of the stage facing back on performers and lights 9-12 (if used) are set up shining on the rear wall behind the performers.

BaSiC OPeratiOn

The LP-C12 was designed specifically to work with the Yorkville LP-LED series products like the LP-LED4, but it was also designed to be backward compatible with our legacy LP302 and LP304 light bars. All of the functions described here are the same for all Yorkville lighting products except where specifically noted.

ChanneL COntrOLS

The channels are grouped in three rows of four controls, with each row corresponding to one of the XLR outputs on the rear of the controller. Each channel has two controls:

Color – This rotary encoder is used to select the color of the corresponding light. (The LP302 or LP304 lights will ignore the color control)
Intensity – This control is used to set the brightness of the corresponding light head. When this knob is pushed down, it will momentarily flash the corresponding light to full intensity.
There is a yellow LED indicator on each channel that illuminates with a brightness correspond-
ing to the brightness of the light on that channel.

SCene SeLeCtiOn

This bank of thirteen scenes allows you to store your favourite or most frequently used lighting scenes in the LP-C12’s internal memory for instant recall at any time. To recall a scene, simply push the corresponding button, and the lights will change to your stored setting. Changes to scenes are stored in real time; to save a scene all you need to do is select the scene you wish to change and make your changes.
The LP-C12 has a scene auto-advance feature. This feature moves through the scenes from Scene 6 to Scene 13, and then back to 6 again. If you look at the controller, you will notice that Scenes 1-5 are grouped together, and Scenes 6-13 are together. This arrangement is to help you remember which scenes the auto-advance feature uses.
Hint: Use scenes 1 to 5 for special scenes like when the leader of the performance is talking to the audience or to highlight solo portions of the performance. Set scenes 6 to 13 to vary generic lighting of all the performers. This way when using the Auto Scene Advance the solo lighting scenes will not be used.

FunCtiOnS

Effects – Press this button to engage effects (see next section for description of effects). If this button is pressed when the effects are on it will turn off the effects and return to the active scene. The channels that receive effects are selected by the effects Patch control. The type of effect is selected by the effects Select control. The effects operation is described in detail later.
Flash: All White – This function momentarily turns on ALL connected lights to white.
NOTE: For LP302/LP304 the flash function will not change the color of the lights. Whatever gels are in use will be the colors that are flashed by this function.
Flash: All Red – This function momentarily turns on ALL connected lights to red.
NOTE: For LP302/LP304 the flash function will not change the color of the lights. Whatever gels are in use will be the colors that are flashed by this function.
All On – This function turns on all lights to a pre-determined color (different colors on each channel). If this button is pressed while already in the ALL ON mode the All On mode will be cancelled and the unit will return to the active scene.
NOTE: For LP302/LP304 the colors will be determined by the gels in use rather than by the program.
BLACKOUT – As its name implies, this function will turn off ALL connected lights. Pressing this button again will return to the active scene, exiting the blackout mode.

Auto Scene Advance – This feature causes the controller to automatically change through your preset scenes, starting with Scene 6 and going through to Scene 13. At the end of the cycle, it goes back to Scene 6 and continues.

The timing knob directly above the switch for this feature controls how frequently scene changes occur. It offers scene-advance speeds from 3 seconds up to 10 minutes. At its center position, it is calibrated to approximately 1 minute intervals. This mode does not cancel the effects mode, blackout or all on. Effects will continue to operate in this mode. This allows effects an auto scene advance to operate simultaneously. Channels that are not selected by the effects patch will light according to the active scene as selected by the auto scene advance.

Fade Rate – When scenes are changed, they fade from one color to the next; this controls the duration of that fade.

Effects Speed – This knob controls the speed at which effects operate. This control also affects the fade rate, including the fade rate of audio effects.

To turn the effects on depress the EFFECTS button. The indicator beside the button will light to indicate that the effects are active. Depressing the EFFECTS button while the effects are on will turn off the effects and return the control of all channels to the active scene.
eFFeCtS PatCh
The Effects Patch control determines which channels will be controlled by the effects. This allows the user to send effects to certain channels while leaving others as determined by the active scene. Setting the Patch control to ALL CHANNELS will send effects to all channels. Other positions will send effects to one or more light bars, leaving the remaining bars controlled by the active scene.
The positions marked Bar 1, 2, 3 TMB and Bar 1, 2, 3 TBb are intended to be used with the four channel audio effect. TMB is Treble, Mid, Bass, in this case 90 Hz bass. TBb is Treble, bass and bass. B is 90 Hz bass and b is 45 Hz bass. In most music the 90 Hz bass hits first and the 45 Hz is the fade out of the bass. In some music these will be separate beats. Some music will have very little 45 Hz content and will not often trigger the blue lights. Each Bar is one band and all the lights on one bar go on together.
The patch position marked Ch. 1, 2, 7, 8 spreads the effects over two light bars leaving two lights on each to illuminate per-formers. The position marked Bar1, Bar2, 9-12 is intended for use with audio effects, it will flash one whole bar with the 90 Hz bass, another bar with 45 Hz bass and the remaining bar (if used) will show 3 or 4 channels depending on the audio effect selected. The Position marked Ch. 3, 4, 5, 6, 9-12 sends effects to all but four lights.

eFFeCtS SeLeCt

The effects on the left hand side of the control and bottom are not affected by the audio input. The effects on the right hand side and top of the control are affected by the audio input. The fourband and three-band audio are full range effects, while the remainder of the audio effects are 90 Hz only.
ChaSe
There are four non-audio Chase functions differing only in color. The colors chase has 7 colors so that each head flashes in many colors before repeating. The speed of the non-audio chases is controlled by the effects speed control. The fade rate varies with the effects speed adjust. The lower end of the chase speeds can be used as a color fade effect, changing colors ever 20 seconds but with only one light one at a time.
