YAMAHA FX140 Oil clearance inspection sheet

FX140 engine service

Engine unit removal:

1. Beam

2. Water lock

3. Exhaust pipe assy

4. Air cleaner case cover

5. Throttle cable

6. Fuel hose connector

7. Pilot water hose

8. Cooling water hose

9. Front inspection hatch

10. Wire harness couplers (fuel level, speedometer, switches)

11. Power coupling cover

12. Grease hose

13. Oil filter

14. Electrical box

15. Mounting bolts
(removed shims have to be packed individualy)

Preparation:

1. Air cleaner box removal (including intake assy)

2. Exhaust manifold removal

3. Oil tank

4. Front cover and reduction gear unit (powerr coupling have to be removed)

Disassembly:

1. Cylinder head cover removal (do not drop O-ring, bolt for water discharge pipe)

2. Make the crank shaft in position of No. 1 cylinder at TDC (confirm the marking
on the cam sprocket and the chain)

3. (camshaft journal clearance)

4. Camshaft removal(do not drop the chain)

5. Cylinder head removal (do not capsized the head or the shims dropping)

6. Crank case removal (note the stamped number)

7. Crank shaft removal (note the stamped number)

8. Piston assembly removal (note the stamped number)

9. Valve spring removal (note the direction of the springs)

Measuring:

1. Big end jounal clearance

2. Crank shaft bearing clearance

3. Camshaft journal clearance

Oil pump (two pumps in one casing, oil filters)
Chain tensioner retracting
