Repacking the Color Printer and its Accessories
Overview
It is very important that you follow the correct repacking procedure before shipping your color printer. Failure to properly repack the printer can cause damage to the printerÕs internal components.

Turning off the printer

Use the rear-panel This places the print head in the proper position for locking (described later in this document), which is necessary for safe shipment. Do not turn off the printer by pulling the power cord.

Removing the maintenance tray
Caution
To avoid damaging the printer, always remove the maintenance tray before moving
or shipping the printer. Never ship a partially used maintenance tray.

Open the printerÕs front cover.

Grasp the maintenance tray by the front edge and lift up while sliding it out of the
printer. Once youÕve removed the maintenance tray, keep it level.

Caution
A used maintenance tray leaks drum fluid if tipped. Keep the maintenance tray
level to prevent spills. Contact with maintenance tray fluid poses no health risk.

Place the used maintenance tray in a plastic bag and seal the bag. Store the used
maintenance tray for future use.

Caution
To avoid damaging the printer, always lock the transit restraint before moving or
shipping the printer.

Locate the transit restraint on the right side of the printer.
Insert a wide coin into the transit restraint slot.

The power switch is turned off while ink is being loaded into the
printhead.
The printer encounters a fault condition which results in the immediate suspension of all printer operations. Typically the front panel displays a "Service Required" message.
If the printhead is in the wrong position for locking, you will need to turn the printer on again and allow sufÞcient time for the printer to initialize. When the printerÕs front panel displays Ready, wait an additional 10 minutes and then turn the printer off using the

Warning
1. Repack the printer’s accessories.
2. Repack the printer.
The printer weighs about 100 kg. (220 lbs.). Do not attempt to lift it without the assistance of three others. Always use the four pull-out handles located under each corner of the printer when moving it.

documentation in the accessory box shown in step

Use the following instructions and illustration when repacking
the printer.
a.
Ensure that the bottom cushion is properly oriented inside the wooden pallet. The arrow on the bottom cushion should point in the same direction as the arrow on the pallet. Pull down the bottom cushionÕs side ßaps to provide adequate clearance for the printerÕs handles. Ensure that the bottom cushionÕs front and back ßaps are locked in place with the cardboard locking tabs.

Place a plastic shipping bag around the printer and lift the printer using the four built-in carrying handles located at each corner of the printer.

Place the bagged printer into the bottom cushion. The front of the

printer should face the same direction as the arrow points on the bottom cushion.

Slide the carrying handles in and tuck the plastic bag surrounding the printer into place between the printer and bottom cushion.

Place side cushions into position. An arrow molded into each side cushion points the same direction as the arrow on the bottom cushion.
f.
Place the top cushion onto the printer; an arrow on the top cushion indicates the proper orientation.
g.
Place the accessory tray on top of the top cushion; an arrow on the tray indicates the proper orientation. Make sure that the alignment guides in the top of the top cushion properly mate with the recesses in the bottom of the accessory tray. Place the loaded accessory box into the accessory tray.
h.
Orient the outer shipping cartonÕs trap door (covered with a plain brown label) facing the same direction as the arrow in the top cushion. Secure the carton in place with plastic clips.
3. Optional: Repack the Lower Paper Tray Assembly.
Assembly, repack it for shipment using the original packaging.
