in all topics regarding work safety, rst aid and
environmental protection and knows the operating instructions and, in particular, the safety instructions contained therein.
DANGER!
Danger of death caused by electric current
Upon contact with live parts, there is a direct danger of death.
Electrical instruments may only be installed and connected by skilled electrical personnel.
Operation using a defective power supply unit (e.g. short circuit from the mains voltage to the output voltage) can result in life-threatening voltages at the instrument!

4. Design and function
4.1 Description
The analogue temperature transmitter is used for converting a resistance value into a proportional current signal (4 ... 20 mA). The analogue signal is transmitted to a series-connected logic unit. For cable break monitoring the logic unit must be capable of recognising HI alarms (> 21 mA) and LO alarms (< 3.6 mA).
The electrical components of the transmitter are assembled in a plastic case and completely encapsulated. Due to the internal analogue signal processing, this transmitter can also be used in multiplexed systems.
The temperature transmitter described in these operating instructions features a galvanic connection internally between the sensor input and the analogue output. There must not be any external conductive connection (e.g. via earth) between the connected sensor and the analogue output!
4.2 Scope of delivery
Cross-check scope of delivery with the delivery note.
5. Transport, packaging and storage
5.1 Transport
Check the instrument for any damage that may have been caused during transportation. Obvious damage must be reported immediately.
5.2 Packaging
Do not remove packaging until just before mounting. Keep the packaging as it will provide optimum protection during transport (e.g. change in installation site, sending for repair).

5.3 Storage
Permissible conditions at the place of storage:
Storage temperature: -40 ... +85 °C
Humidity: 95 % relative humidity (condensation allowed)
Avoidance of exposure to the following factors:
Direct sunlight or proximity to hot objects
Mechanical vibration, mechanical shock (putting it down hard)
Soot, vapour, dust and corrosive gases
Potentially explosive environments, ammable atmospheres
Store the instrument in its original packaging in a location that fulls
the conditions listed above. If the original packaging is not available, pack and store the instrument as described below:
1. Wrap the instrument in an antistatic plastic lm.
2. Place the instrument, along with shock-absorbent material, in the packaging.
3. If stored for a prolonged period of time (more than 30 days), place a bag containing a desiccant inside the packaging.
WARNING!
Before storing the instrument (following operation), remove any residual media. This is of particular importance if the medium is hazardous to health, e.g. caustic, toxic, carcinogenic, radioactive, etc.

6. Commissioning, operation
In hazardous areas, only use temperature transmitters that are approved for those hazardous areas. The approval is marked on the product label.
6.1 Mounting
The model T24.10 transmitters are designed to be mounted on a measuring insert in a Form B DIN connection head. The connection wires of the measuring insert must be approx. 40 mm long and insulated.
Mounting example:
2476890.A1
Mounting on the measuring insert
Mount the transmitter on the circular plate of the measuring insert using two countersunk M3 screws per ISO 2009.
Check the screw length before xing the transmitter to the measuring
insert: Insert the screw into the circular plate and verify length of 4 mm!

WARNING!
Observe the safety-related maximum values for the connection of the power supply and the sensors, see chapter 8.3 “Safety-related maximum values”.
When working on the transmitter (e.g. installation/removal, maintenance work) take measures to prevent electrostatic discharge from the terminals.

6.2.1 Power supply / 4 ... 20 mA-loop
The T24 is a 2-wire temperature transmitter and depending on the version, it can be supplied with various types of power supply. Connect
the positive pole of the power supply to the terminal marked with ⊕
and the negative pole of the power supply to the terminal marked with
⊖. With exible leads we recommend the use of crimped connector
sleeves.
The T24 temperature transmitter requires a minimum terminal voltage of DC 10 V. The load must not be too high as, otherwise, in the case of relatively high currents, the terminal voltage at the transmitter will be too low.
Maximum permissible load depending on the supply voltage:

6.2.2 Connecting the sensor
The connection of a resistance thermometer (e.g. per ICE 60751 or similar) into a 2-, 3- or 4-wire sensor connection. The sensor input of the
transmitter has to be congured in accordance with the actually used
sensor connection type, otherwise a complete use of the possibilities of connection compensation is not possible; furthermore this may cause
additional measuring errors (see chapter 6.3 “Conguration”).
6. Commissioning, operation
GB
WIKA operating instructions temperature transmitter, model T24 17
2370242.09 08/2013 GB/D
If a 2-wire conguration is used:
Set a jumper between the input terminals and . Otherwise the transmitter will signal a sensor burnout and set the output signal
< 3.6 mA or > 21.0 mA, dependent on conguration.
6.3 Conguration
Sensor type, sensor connection, measuring range, signalling as well
as further parameters can be congured (see data sheet TE 24.01).
The temperature transmitters are delivered with a basic conguration (Pt100, 3-wire, 0 ... +150 °C, downscale) or congured according to the customer‘s specications within the given conguration possibilities.
For customer-dened congurations, the input and measuring range
is given on the product label. The initial value of the measuring range is between -200 ... +200 °C (T24.10.2Px) or between -150 ... +150 °C (T24.10.1Px). The possible end value of the measuring range is dependent on the respective initial value of the range. For possible combinations of initial value of measuring range/end of measuring range see the diagram on page 19. For the purpose of clarity this dependency is represented in 50 °C steps in this diagram, though
intermediate values are also congurable. Possible combinations of
the lower and upper limits of the measuring range can be check easily
by the software WIKA_TT. Amendments to conguration should be noted on the product label with a waterproof bre-tipped pen.
To congure the T24 temperature transmitter, a simulation
of the input value is not required. A sensor simulation is only required for the functional test.

Conguration via the PC
To congure the transmitter, the WIKA_TT conguration software and the PU-448 programming unit are also required. Therefore WIKA oers an optional conguration set (order no. 11606304), consisting of the
following components:
PU-448 programming unit to connect between a Windows PC and the transmitter
Quick connector model magWIK
For further important instructions for the programming unit see chapter 6.4 “Connection of the model PU-448

6.4 Connection of the model PU-448 programming unit
WARNING!
Transmitter, programming unit and PC must be used
outside the hazardous area during conguration.
Tighten the screws of the terminals to avoid communication errors. The electrical connection of the terminals for the head-mounted versions is achieved using the patented magWIK quick connector.
During the conguration, no additional power supply is
needed - the power for the PU-448 and the transmitter is supplied from the PC, directly through the USB connection.
The wiring is made as shown in the diagram. The connection of the plus and minus terminals of the transmitter must be made to the red and black magWIK terminals respectively.
