Before the dryer is removed from service or discarded,
WARNING:
precautions, including the following:
To reduce the risk of re, electric shock, or injury to persons when using the washer, follow basic
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
n
Read all instructions before using the washer.
n
Do not wash articles that have been previously
cleaned in, washed in, soaked in, or spotted with
n
n
petrol, dry-cleaning solvents, or other ammable or explosive substances as they give off vapours that
n
could ignite or explode.
n
Do not add petrol, dry-cleaning solvents, or other
n
ammable or explosive substances to the wash water. These substances give off vapours that could ignite or explode.
n
Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be
produced in a hot water system that has not been
n
n
used for 2 weeks or more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system has not been used for such a period, before using the washer, turn
n
n
on all hot water taps and let the water ow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated
n
hydrogen gas. As the gas is ammable, do not smoke or use an open ame during this time.
n
This appliance is not intended for use by children or
by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instructions concerning safe use of the appliance by persons
n
n
responsible for their safety. Such persons must also understand the possible hazards involved during use.
Cleaning and user maintenance by children must
be supervised.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
Children less than 3 years of age should be kept away
from the appliance unless continuously supervised.
Before the washer is removed from service
or discarded, remove the door or lid.
Do not reach into the washer if the drum, tub,
or agitator is moving.
Do not install or store the washer where it will be
exposed to the weather. Do not tamper with controls. Do not continue to use this appliance if it appears
to be faulty. Do not repair or replace any part of the washer
or attempt any maintenance unless specically
recommended in this Use and Care Guide.
Repairs and servicing should only be carried
out by competent service personnel. See Installation Instructions for earthing instructions. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced
by Whirlpool or its service agent or a similarly
qualied person in order to avoid a hazard.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
n Do not use this washer if it appears to be damaged or is defective. Contact the owner of the washer to have proper repairs made.
n Do not use this washer if industrial chemicals have been used for cleaning.
What’s New Under the Lid?
Your new washer will operate differently than your past agitator-style washer.
Lid Locked
When the Lid Locked light is on, the lid is locked and cannot be opened. When the light is off, the lid is unlocked and can be opened. If you need to open the lid to add a garment, you must press START/STOP/PAUSE/UNLOCK LID and wait for the lid to unlock. The lid will only unlock and the Lid Locked light will only turn off after washer movement has stopped. Depending on when in the cycle you try to pause, it may take several seconds to several minutes for the lid to unlock.
Sounds
At different stages of the wash cycle, you may hear sounds and pauses that are different from those of your previous washer. For example, you may hear a clicking and hum at the beginning of the cycle as the lid lock goes through a self-test. There will be different kinds of humming and whirring sounds as the agitator tests for load balance or moves the load. And, sometimes, you may hear nothing at all as the washer allows time for clothes to soak.
IMPORTANT:
• Washer will not operate if the lid is open.
• Washer will not begin to ll with water until the lid is closed.
• The washer cycle will cancel and water will automatically drain if the lid is left open for more than 10 minutes.
Specications
These units are sold in multiple regions with different requirements for measuring capacity. Below are a few of the valid forms of measure posted on this product:

GULF (GSO) Capacity: A capacity measure that represents the capacity at which performance testing was completed.
GULF (GSO) Water Consumption: Water consumption which the manufacturer declares will be used in a specic cycle.

• staff kitchen areas in shops, ofces, and other working environments;
• farm houses;
• by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential-type environments;
• bed and breakfast-type environments;
• areas for communal use in blocks of ats or in launderettes.

SOIL LEVEL
1
Soil Level settings adjust the agitation time as needed for your load. The Light setting is for lightly soiled garments and the Heavy setting is for garments that need a longer wash time to release the soils from the fabric.
WASH TEMP
2
Temperature Control senses and maintains uniform water temperatures by regulating incoming warm and cool water. This ensures the correct temperature is used to maximize cleaning while protecting the garments.
Select a wash temperature based on the type of fabric and soils being washed. For best results and following the garment label instructions, use the warmest wash water safe for your fabric.
NOTES:
• The temperature of hot and cold water depends upon the temperature of the water entering your washer.
• Warm and cool water will be cooler than what your previous washer provided.
• Even in a cold and cool water wash, some warm water may be added to the washer to maintain a minimum temperature.

DEEP FILL (on some models)
Set at “Yes” to add extra water to any cycle. Water will be added automatically, with the amount determined by the size of the load.
NOTE: Washer will continue to operate with agitation even as water is added.
WASH CYCLE KNOB
4
Use the Wash Cycle knob to select available cycles on your washer. Turn the knob to select a cycle for your laundry load. See “Cycle Guide” for detailed descriptions of cycles.
5
START/STOP/PAUSE/UNLOCK LID BUTTON
• Press to start the selected cycle.
• Press again to pause the cycle and unlock the lid.
• Press and hold for 3 seconds to cancel a cycle. NOTE: If the washer is spinning, it may take several
minutes to unlock the lid.
Use to Manually Soak Garments:

CYCLE STATUS LIGHTS INDICATOR
The Cycle Status Lights show the progress of a cycle. At each stage of the process, you may notice sounds or pauses that are different from traditional washers.
SENSING FILL
When the Start/Stop/Pause/Unlock Lid button is pressed,
the washer will ll with water and begin the wash cycle.
WASH
You will hear the agitator moving the load. The motor
sounds may change at different stages in the cycle. The wash time is determined by the selected soil level.
RINSE
You will hear sounds similar to the wash cycle as the washer rinses and moves the load. You may hear the motor turning on briey (short hum) to move the basket while lling.
FINAL SPIN/SPIN
The washer spins the load at increasing speeds for proper water removal, based on the selected cycle.
CYCLE COMPLETE/DONE
Once the cycle is complete, this light will come on. Remove the load promptly for best results.
LID LOCKED/LOCKED
To allow for higher spin speeds, the lid
will lock and the Lid Locked light will turn on. When this light is lit, the lid is locked and cannot be opened. When this light is off, the lid is unlocked and can be opened.
If you need to open the lid, press START/STOP/PAUSE/UNLOCK LID. The lid will unlock once the washer movement has stopped. This may take several minutes if the load was spinning at high speed. Press START/ STOP/PAUSE/UNLOCK LID again to resume the cycle.
EXTRA RINSE (on some models)
7
This option can be used to automatically add a second rinse to most cycles.
NOTE: To open the lid during the rinse or extra rinse phase after the rst spin, you must rst press START/STOP/ PAUSE/UNLOCK LID to unlock the lid.
8
PRESOAK (on some models)
This option can be used to automatically add a presoak time to a wash cycle. Items will gently tumble through the detergent and water for the selected time to help loosen tough stains.
