System Description and Operation
The Solarc Light Source is used to supply high-quality , w hite light
for video and optical illumination systems.
1. Plug the power supply into a grounded AC receptacle. The
power switch should be in the OFF position .
If your So
option, turn it to the minimum position (Figure 1). Plug the
fiber optic bundle into the light port and conne ct t he oppo sit e
end to the equipment being used.
2. Turn the power switch to the ON position .
If your So
option, set the light intensity to the desired level (Figure 1).
3. Turn unit OFF when not in use.

Caution Do not restart the Solarc Light Source immediately after shutting it
off - it may fail to light. If this occurs, turn the power off and wait 10 to 15
seconds before turning the unit back on.

To Replace the Lamp
1. Turn the So
larc Light Source of f () and unplug the power
cord from both the wall outlet and the rear of the unit.
2. Remove the five screws from the So
larc Light Source using a
#2 philips head screwdriver. Pivot the cover to expose the
lamp.

3. Flip up the retaining latch. Pull the lamp base back and up
against the retaining spring to remove th e lamp.
4. Remove the lamp, with harness attached, and then
disconnect the lamp connector.

5. Replace with Welch Allyn replacement lamp AL - 1824 only.
DO NOT touch the lamp or the interior reflective surface of
the lamp. Skin oils on the lamp will cause premature lamp
failure. Only hold the outside of the reflector or the base of
the lamp. Remove any grease or fingerprints with a clean Qtip moistened with alcohol. Do not leave any lint on the lamp.
6. Connect the new lamp to the connecto r and insert lamp to
properly seat the alignment pin located on the bottom of the
lamp into the slot located on the lamp bracket.

7. Close the retaining latch and replace the cover. Secure the
five screws on the So
larc Light Source. Reconnect t he power
supply.
Caution Do not operate the device without the cover in place.

Dispose of the lamp according to local, state, and federal
laws.
Cleaning
1. Turn the Solarc Light Source off () and unplug the power
cord from both the wall outlet and the rear of the unit.
2. Wipe the external surfaces clean with a clot h dampen ed with
mild soap and water. DO NOT IMMERSE.
3. Wipe the power cords clean with a cloth dampe ned with mild
soap and water. DO NOT IMMERSE. DO NOT RECONNECT
WET.
4. DO NOT plug the power source into a wall outlet until it is
thoroughly dry.

Welch Allyn warrants the Solarc Light Source, when new, to be
free of defects in mat erial and workmanship and to perform in
accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications when subject
to normal use and service for a period of one year from the date
of purchase from Welch Allyn or an authorize d agent. W elc h Allyn
will either repair or replace any components found to be
defective or at variance from the manufacturer’s specifications
within this time at no cost to the customer. It shall be the
purchaser’s responsibility to return the instrument to the
authorized distributor, agent, or service representative.
This warranty does not cover the So
