When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed t o reduce the risk of fire, ele ctric shock and inj ury, including the follow ing:
1) R ead and understand all the i nstructions.
2) Fo llow all warnings and inst ructions marked on the p roduct.
3) U nplug this product fro m the wall outlet before clea ning. Do not use liquid clea ners or aerosol cleaner s. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.
4) D o not use this product nea r water (for example, near a bath tub, k itchen sink, swimmin g pool).
5) D o not overload wall outlets an d extension cords as thi s can result in the risk of fi re or electric shock.
6) Unplug this product form the wall outlet and refer servicing to VTech under the following conditions
• When the power s upply cord or plug is damag ed or frayed.
• If the produc t does not operate normal ly by following the operat ing instructions.
• If the produc t has been dropped and the c abinet has been damaged.
• If the produc t exhibits a distinct chan ge in performance.
7) Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning.
8) D o not use the telephone to rep ort a gas leak in the vici nity of the leak.
9) U se only the supplied NiM H (Nickel Metal Hydride) bat teries! The operatio n periods for the handset s are only applicable wi th the default bat tery capacities
10)The use of other bat tery types or non -rechargeable bat teries/primary c ells can be dangerous. T hese may cause interfe rence and/or unit dam ages. The manufacturer w ill not be held liable for damag e arising from such non -compliance.
11)Do not use third par ty charging bays. The bat teries may be damaged.
12)Please note the c orrect polarit y while inserting the ba tteries.
13)Do not immers e batteries in water, do not plac e in fire.

Setting up the telephone
Package contents
The package f or the VT1050/VT1050T contains the foll owing items:

Location
The maximu m range between the bas e station and the hands et is approximately 30 0 meters. Depending o n the surrounding conditions as well as spatial and structural factors , the range may be r educed. The r ange indoors is normally less than outdoors.

Before you can start using your telephone you must plug in the telephone connection cords and the mains cable.
Connecti ng the base station
1) P lug the power supply & line co rd into the base station.
2) Plug the power s upply & line cord into the wa ll socket.
3) A lways use the cables prov ided in the box.
• Your telephone will not function if the mains plug or adapter is not plugged in. Thus, firs t charge the battery before you connec t the unit with the telephone network. The unit will function only if it is charg ed completely.

1) Slide open the bat tery compartme nt cover.
2) Place the 2 bat teries as indicated. Res pect polarity.
3) Slide the batt ery compartment c over back.
4) Put the handset on t he base and charge for 16 h ours first time. A be ep indicates that th e handset is proper ly placed on th e base .

Use only the pow er pack provided for the bas e station. Use only NiMH rechargeable batteries.

1. PAGE Press the Page on the ba se station to page your handset. It will ring for approximately 60 seconds. Press on the handset or on the base to stop the paging.

The LCD display gi ves you information on the c urrent status of the telep hone.
Scroll up / dow n the menu items / Phoneboo k list / Redial list / Call List
Steady when t he handset is in range of the bas e. Flash when out of range of the b ase or not registered to the base.
Steady when an intercom is in progress. Flash when the re is an incoming interna l call.
Indicate a c all is in progress.
Indicate th at the ringer is switched o ff.
Steady when an alarm is set. Flash when th e alarm time set before reac hes.
Indicate th at the keypad is locked.
